I'm a 9, and I think it's a misconception that we 'don't care' or 'don't have an opinion'. I just operate with a persistent awareness that *other* people have a wide range of opinions, and for the most part, I can understand their rationale (that's what makes me a good mediator).
I think what they should say is the 9 doesn’t choose to rock the boat with their different opinion bc that might disturb the peace and unity of everyone.
Agreed, but just remember that the "don't care" is an over simplification of the core subconscious, what is deep down inside you. It's that you don't actually not care, its just the best way to describe to someone that isn't a 9 how you might act or respond.

Completely agree. However, we must take a moment to understand that it is very important for everyone, including us 9's, to voice our opinions. The reasoning is simple, an opinion is more than just a thought that wondered into your head for you to keep hidden, it is a valuable addition you can give to others so that they can learn from it.

I was hoping to learn more about the enneagram and the different types as a whole, but this interview felt more like an affirmation of Christy being type 8. It was informative if you’re an 8, but if you want to learn more about the other types then you should look elsewhere.

Shew blew right past something really interesting he said. He said "8s experience conflict as connection." I'm a 5 but I can relate to that a little bit as well. Anytime you have conflict, it's an opportunity to grow in an understanding each other.
Totally heard that! I have a buddy that loves to argue and it drives me nuts because I thought it was him just being a know-it-all, and I didn’t realize it helps him potentially feel connected
☝️this explains everything much better. Also do search more videos on the topic or get more knowledge from other sources on the internet. You'll understand the whole concept. But in my opinion the science for personality is not that solid. So, I can't say for sure it's 100% accurate.

If we are not suppose to use the enneagram to “diagnosis the other” - what is the process like for Ian to understand his kids and their numbers? Are there certain ages of development where it’s better to introduce these ideas of the enneagram / unconscious motivation?

Christy, 9s certainly aren’t unopinionated and them being passive aggressive is a stereotype. Before making this video, you should have learned more about the enneagram to have avoided doing the common thing of reducing each number to stereotypical behaviors rather than MOTIVATIONS. As a 9, I am very opinionated, probably much more so than most people. But I am also willing to see other perspectives and give them a chance to speak AHEM. ;-)

4s are all about feelings but 5s have little feeling ??????
4 is between 3 and 5. 3 wants to create something to create a positive image of them to the outside world; 5 is mostly inwards and seeking answers, knowledge and information. 4 is in between those: they seek knowledge and information, mostly about themselves and their identity, to find the image of themselves that truly represents their inner emotional life
You could be 4 because you feel that you could be a 5. Five type are creative and playful. 2,3,4 are feeling types and it represents the heart.

I’m a psychotherapist and I have several patients that ask about the enneagram. I always hesitate to endorse it because of videos like this on social media. As a professional in the mental health field; I ask that you represent this assessment with the respect it deserves and not endorse it as a way of being self-absorbed but more about being self-aware. I encourage you to ask questions that are less superficial and more research based. Also, if you’re using this assessment for business purposes; please understand your legal obligation to accurately represent this product as a service.
May I ask how frequently patients raise this subject ? I've brought it up in a professional context many times, and the reaction is always the same - enneagram is about the same as astrology. When I took the free online test and read up on my type, it felt like it was written specifically for me. I'd love to hear about more ways to use what the enneagram has taught me.

When he said an8 experiences conflict with connection Christy bypassed that important comment and went on with her own agenda. The point was missed. That was frustrating and a poor interviewer as she interrupted Mr Cron’s dialogue.

The enneagram is nothing about classification or labeling of personalities.. that is a twisted perspective fo this symbol that is actually a tool for self-remembering.
People want to label you to control you... they want to me air the reigns of who you define yourself as ... and you give it over.. so willingly. I’d you are😮 a believer and the enneagram to be a vessel to categorize and label people with, I ask of you to describe the symbol and its meaning ... and relation to the other facets of connection within the symbol itself. I suspect you cannot.. it is not a symbol to be used to depict and label personalities, so you are missing the mark....

The enneagram is rooted in the occult. When I was in the occult before becoming a Christian we used this symbol all the time. It encouraged members to focus on the old man and not the renewed man in Christ. The Bible. Says we have been made new in Christ. When we focus on the old man and our old strengths or improving our weaknesses to become better in the old person we will never live up to what the Lord has in store for us as the new man in Christ. Focusing on the old man is a form of self glorification. In the end you Start to build self pride that YOU rebuilt the old man and not Jesus. That was the original first sin of Lucifer. Self glorification. He built pride in himself and wanted to become God.

Wow!!!! I couldn’t even get 5 minutes in and was already annoyed & had to stop watching. You are definitely an 8 to the extreme. Kept cutting in, interrupting your guest, terrible listening skills,, and making the interview about yourself. 10/10 did not enjoy this due to the host. I was excited to hear from Dr Cron but you ruined the experience of hearing from the expert.

cron is a conman. ichazo admitted he made the eneagram up and there was no ancient connection. naranjo admitted he got the types through automatic writing.
Will Roach it’s a philosophy. Definitely pretty woo woo but I’d say it’s not a terrible tool for reflection and growing self awareness.
This is probably what drives people who are more attuned to what personality actually is away from Eneagram. It hides behind the mysticism of ancientness which for some reason is meant to infer some infallible accuracy, but in reality it's no different from MyersBriggs or anything similar. It lumps people into (literally numbered) categories and is not useful for any sort of societal prediction making, like the something like the Big 5 is. For this reason, it should be treated no different from MB, with no value exterior to menial entertainment. Your comment is news to me but not surprising, in fact maybe even subconsciously expected. The fact this guy is a therapist is disappointing
1. What is genetic fallacy?
2. If the map was the territory, it wouldn't work as a map.
3. Even if it turns out the enneagram has no value whatsoever, why go after Ian's character? Isn't it simpler to assume that you just disagree about the validity of the system?

The enneagram has weird beginnings and has been "Christianized". It's not a biblical concept at all. More like a high school "personality" test. I am totally against this and this is such a childish way of discovering who you are. I'd stick with the 5 love languages and learn your own dialects. It has less baggage.
