    "Undergraduate" pilot training was the hardest thing I ever experienced. Kind of like "basic training" for a year. The Highest G's I experienced was 9.6. Once one gets through THAT, things get easier. Training in the aircraft one will fly in active service is MUCH more reasonable. The biggest challange is wolfing down all the things one needs to know about the aircraft systems and operational limits.

    In the RAFVR, we did "Unusual attitudes" under the hood, so could not see out - instructor pulls hard G so the gyros all tumble, THEN give you back the a/c! Nothing to be frightened of - not much to do - close throttle to reduce descent if going down; hold stick firmly in case going backwards (not often). And the plane will sort itself out. The ADI comes back first, then the other gyros. Was fun! I used to chuckle to show instructor how cool I was.......they gave me a Permanent Commission, one of 20 from 4,000 applicants. Very flattering.

Woiud break things in the Mess but nothing ever said....BUT suffered terrible nightmares when pulling hard G; dying several times a night. Not wanting to sleep because AGAIN augering in at 300kts, pulling back but doing nothing. BAM! Would love to take you to do aeros. Pull 7G!!! Unbelievable. Tunnel vision, then black. Cheers.

    I remember going to the recruiting office after college. And wanted to be a pilot. Either F16 or Apache AH-64. When I inquired about it, I was laughed at.
    To the point were the recruiter pointed at me and laughed, then called the other guys and told them that I wanted to be a pilot.
    They all started laughing. I was told it would be a fat chance in h3ll that I would ever be a pilot. They kept laughing to the point that I got upset and just left.
    And never looked back. After that day, I never wanted to be part of any military, because the way I was treated and talked down to like I was 5 years old.

    Prior Navy here. Big difference between the two: When the air force lands, that aircraft and crew are done.
    Navy, because we're "touch 'n' go" orientated, we would land and then maneuver for take off again. This always annoyed the air traffic controllers at Elgin and Nellis.
    We would tease our air force brethren with a mocking motto: "USAF--No War After 4."

    • @SERBZILLA1
      @SERBZILLA1 Рік тому

      @DownloadPizza What are you talking about man? Have you ever skydived? I am. I was a military paratrooper. The speed of descent by parachute is about 5m/sec. The impact on the ground when landing is like jumping from a height of two meters and not from this toy in the video. If the wind is blowing at the same time, the impact is even stronger. And if the legs are bent at the knees before landing, the legs will break like breadsticks.
