Next year the rye or winter wheat will be choked out by the clover. Same with oats. Good idea though. That’s why they call that a cover crop. I drilled oats and soybeans together last year and sprayed roundup on it the oats made a great weed mat for the rest of the season

We shall see! The Rye established really well after this mowing (I have another video showing the update) so with both the clover and rye growing I don’t think the clover will choke it out. May actually be the opposite with the Rye suppressing the clover due to how thick it is now. Will be interesting to see next spring👍🏻

You should mow to stop the goldenrod on on either side. If you get rain, your clover and rye seed will be in where the goldenrod is now.

When was the initial plant (you said august, right)? What was your seeding rate of the wr and (which clovers?

Initial planting was the previous year about August 25th. This was our Fall 365 mix so the rye portion would come out to around 20 lbs/ac. Clover in that mix was medium red, we added more clover to this years seed mix for a full rate since I thought it was a little light in this plot. The additional clover is ladino white clover to give us more diversity, better weed control, and more forage.

I would have broadcast brassica over it, then mowed it. I’ve had luck with it before

That would definitely be another great option!
