  • If you have a Hiatus/Haital Hernia, then you may be like me, left alone with no idea whatsoever of your options. You've just been told you have it, and here's some Medicine you have to take for the rest of your life - I've been taking Omeprazole now for over 3 years and I've heard horror stories about long term PPI effects. This video is about my recent chat with surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary Dr. Goldsmith regarding my surgery options including Linx Surgery.

lifestyle changes are not enough. I didn’t take omeprazole and did everything in my power to not have medication but it was awful and was burning my esophagus. I’m starting omeprazole now and I’m so glad it has helped you keep taking it if it keeps your symptoms free 🙏🏽.

Hiya . It's great that your a chatterbox 🤣. I've not been diagnosed yet with a hiatus hernia but I've been suffering with acid reflux for almost a year now so the doctor has put me on omeprazole 20mg and i was on that a month . It did help reduce the acid but not completely so the plan now is to go on two tablets a day of the omeprazole instead of two. It's so sad that for the right treatment we have to save up and pay it shouldn't be like that . Everyone should receive proper care. Your videos are so helpful. 🌞

Thanks Nicolle! I was the same, I did used to take a higher dose of my omeprazole than I am now. I would like to reduce it even more but I don’t wanna make things any worse (it’s so hard), thanks so much for watching❤️

I had the LINX because I had a hiatus hernia. Best decision I ever made. I got it on the NHS

I found a surgeon that offered the LINX on the NHS and I asked my GP to refer me directly to this surgeon.

@@boochau9621 sorry to hear that you are suffering. My surgery was performed in Epsom so probably too far for you. Maybe Google some to see if there are any LINX surgeons in your area? Best of luck 🤞

i have hiatus hernia as well, in the past I only take esomeprazole when I have symptoms but since i got the covid and h pylori my hiatus hernia are a lot worst, when i stop taking medicine the symptoms rebound really quickly. I did discuss the option with the surgeon he said it is better for me to have a linx surgery i am with the NHS, the surgeon didnt ask me to pay for any surgery. there are lots of things you can try to help to reduce the GERD and acid reflux. Aloe Vera juice, slippery elm, chamomile tea, ginger tea, DGL licorice, mashmellow root, Lemon Balm tea, baking soda, meadowsweet herb tea, apple cider vinegar with the mother all these things can help to relieve the symptoms. before my surgery i need to do another endoscopy and manometry test

Hi seeing your videos have helped me a lot I’m young too to be dealing with this pain. It alters your life so much so someone saying don’t panic it’s not even necessary. We suffer, obviously there’s something wrong and we don’t feel well :( . This was a year ago how are you doing now? I’m also considering surgery how are you doing and what are you doing now?

Hi John, from Simon here. Just a quick advise please. We do have the same thing. I have a hiatus hernia and GERD. I had asked my doctor about the surgery thing and she told me it's totally unecessary as symptoms do come back years after especially the fundoplication. So the best option is to take the medications for life. Yes it is hard but we just have to be on it on daily basis and it's a must or else that acid could irritate the esophagus and cause major symptoms. Also you don't need to go through endoscopy all the time or once a year. Totally not necessary since you've done that before and everything is fine. I guess u are being paranoid. So please if all is fine then no need to panic. Simple never skip your medicine. We both just have to deal with this.

You should do yoga and diaphragmatic breathing also massaging the affected part with castor oil for 2-3 months can fix your hernia and gerd will go by itself once hernia reverses
