Not bad. Little sandpaper will fix that handle. Decent length for a pack machete. Id prefer at least a 16" for a little extra reach personally but still pretty nice.
I don’t know. I use an 18” Latin blade and it gets a bit heavy and cumbersome. I’m eyeballing this 14” bolo hoping that the bolo will add enough weight to make up for the shorter length while the shorter length makes it a bit more agile.
@@soloproject99like with the Imacasa machetes, the Tramontina ones have extra chonk in the handle with the intention that the end user shapes it to fit their hand to their preference. :-) I have several Tramontinas and a couple of Imacasas, so my recommendation is to use a rasp and sandpaper to get the handle sized to your preference, then use a little boiled linseed oil on the wood (NO polyurethane unless you like blisters and slippery handles LOL). Good luck with these man!
Cool vid. I still have my Grandfathers WW2 Bolo Kokoda Machete. It is an amazing tool. Very high quality steel. The handle is the only con. It is a bit small and slippery. But yeah still a great piece of history....
I just found this channel, but I like the energy. Sub’d 👍🏻 P.S. I wish I had New Knife Fridays at my house. More like annual New Knife Day (which oddly happens to land on my birthday by strange coincidence).
Which is your favourite machete? I have a guess and say your 18’ or 20” Tramontina. The one you use most. I use a 20” with a plastic handle with a wrap. It’s a thinner blade stick than the wooden handled Tramontinas. Very whippy. I do enjoy using my 26” Tramontina with wooden handle. That’s a beast with good reach.
its hit or miss if they come sharp ... I own 4 of them and some were sharper than others but all are razor sharp after 5 minutes with a file and stone (except that blunt tip which I always sharpen)
@@sharpridgehomesteadNão deveria afiar a ponta..é perigoso usar um machete com a afiação até a ponta..se vc acertar uma pedra com ela pode voar lascas de metal no seu rosto..é por isso q a fábrica não afia a ponta nunca.
Most machete come with no edge. As not there. Everyone has different ideas for types of edge . Some people put 3 or more different angles on the edge . Number 2 they are made cheap for the third world
I need a sheath for this...tried contacting an Australian company but they don't reply back...so not getting one there. Also heard about those airpods blowing up in people's ears....stay safe brother. ❤
@@MickAlderson you are correct. I have both the Tramontina and marbles...the sheath fits the Tramontina like a glove. I left a review on knife center under the Tramontina bolo. Thanks for the reply brother.
I love my 12 inch for fishing and hiking. I'm gonna have to get this bad boy soon.
Tomorrow morning, I’ll be setting up camp with it!
Great stuff, man! Great info, & entertaining! Props to your Mom from Alabama, for raising a Dangerous Man!
-from this ole Alabama boy. 👍👍👊
Thanks, my fellow Alabamian!! I’ll be sure to tell her!

Yeah, I prefer the reach too. I’m pretty hopeful that it will make a good little camper companion though.

That's awesome, can't wait for the upcoming vids!
Headed out this morning!

Glad you’re here!! I’ve got a couple new knife fridays in the works!!

I love my Tramontina Bolo. Cleared an acre much faster than a Latin style plastic handle Wal-Mart POS !

Four of them!!!? Oh you do have a problem 😂😂
@@soloproject99 its a good thing they only have 1 species of wooden handle :)

I could use a camping trip but I think its going to get down in the teens next week so maybe I'll just curl up with some bourbon in the man cave👍
It only got down to 30 degrees here. It was well worth it!!
Has anyone reviewed the Martindale Bolo Cleaver Machete with the polypropylene handles ? Once sharpened it's like a small sword !
I’ll have to check it out!!

The Marbles bolo machete sheath fits it quite nicely.
