The PS5 is really overheating . And for no reason too. It’ll say overheating but it’ll be cold and it’ll just now turn it on and it still says overheating. Then it turns off by itself
I've got the same problem sons...will be shut down the whole night, then I turn it on in morning and ten or so minutes of the console being on, the warning comes up saying Your ps5 is too hot, switch it of and wait for it to cool. I wish I could post the picture but I can't find an option to do so.

Just in theory, since liquid metal is .....liquid. I think I'm putting my Ps5 horizontal. It just seems that in a vertical position, the liquid is more likely to sit and build up on the bottom of the soc, whereas horizontal it should be more spread out and less likely to leak. If over time the square "sponge" or foam thing were to break down, get hard, possibly leak, again, vertical seems more likely to fail.
I’m sure they considered that when designing it, but you have a point, I’m keeping mine horizontal too lol

Question on the Steel series Artis 7P did they ever fix the tinny mic sounds, where the one end of the spectrum just dies on mic quality?
It's a 12V fan too, very similar to ones found in compact cars for the interior heating/cooling. I'm sure it'll cool the PS5 just fine.

The fact that it is being promoted to be in a standing position in the marketing is disconcerting. Over time that liquid metal being heated in an upright posi8tion will either shift to one side or if the foam isn't on there well will leak out. The Ideal position for the console is going to be horizontal for longevity sake.

So I just got my ps5 and about 30 minutes of playing Spider-Man miles morales it just crashed and the ps5 was unresponsive for a few seconds. After that it turned on and I said to report the crash. Idk what caused this but I checked the ps5 out and it felt pretty hot which is strange since it’s in a pretty open space and it’s pretty cool in my room. What do y’all think is this just a software thing that’ll get patched up?
What is liquid metal exactly made of? Is it liquid mercury? Kinda interested. Also, what if you shake the console around when holding or transporting it? Will the liquid metal spread across and onto the foam? It looks kinda viscous but also slippery

Is it normal then for the back of it to feel really hot? Doesn't seem to be overheating or have not received any messages but it does feel hot just from the back where the connections are.. anyone else having this??
At very least it has some protection unlike early x360 - they were literally programmed to ignore all the warnings and keep working even at 100C - sure the architecture was a problem but did they set the thermal limits the issues would be much smaller as all the revised models did have much lover thermal limits set.

5:35 - That's not how the PS5's variable frequencies work, instead it is based on the total power consumption of the chip, NOT thermal headroom! In his "The Road to the PS5" presentation, Mark Cerny specifically stated that they designed it so that every console will perform identically, regardless of ambient temperature!

It's happening to my sons ps5 right now, started 5days ago. Switch it on in the morning, after a night of it being completely shut down. Ten minutes after switching it on

My PS4 pro is completely silent now. Cleaning the power supply was a big help. I play red Dead redemption 2 and I don't ever hear the fans turn on high
Mine is starting to literally heat the area around it and is really hot at rear...
Seems like Sony variable performance is good in keeping the consoles temp low enough for a long run..while XSX which is always running at near max/full performance..

Like there was even a 0,00001% chance that Sony worked on a console for a few years, engaged probably dozens if not hundreds of engineers to work on it from every possible aspect and test the hell out of it both software and hardware and for some reason they would not stress test it which is pretty much the default test for any electronics including tests that are scenarios nearly impossible for everyday usage. And then they say what? "Whoopsie, we're sorry, we forgot to stress test it, forgive us, it's not like we're a company producing electronics since 1946 so that could happen, right?". Come on, are you Americans or something?!

Gamers nexus has done a in depth look at the thermals and conclusion is that the memory is running too hot at around 93 degrees. Which may lead to premature failures and erratic behaviour.

I noticed my mates got somewhat WARM, not hot.. so it’s not overheating but it’s not cool, he was downloading multiple games at once and they were fairly big in size, so that could be the reason.. but tbh I’m not sure I’m no tech wiz

If I remember right for the PS3 the dinky little fan they had to blow air went out so the system constantly overheated ( not to mention I don't believe the fan is a high-quality one).

my biggest issue the fact ive de-lidded enough processors and watch enough videos to know that Liquid metal doesnt last forever it needs to be re-applied every 1-2 years... long term use of the ps5 concerns me.
basically the same way why the xbox one x and ps4 pro consoles always end up dead in my local library. they bought them for the people who do not have access to those but are too stupid to buy a large enough closet with enough airflow.
That’s way you don’t keep systems on over night unless you have it on restmode
It is, it's been doing that with me recently when I play some PS5 games, it doesn't do it when I play PS4 games, because I got them on an external hard drive

Just choose what games u want to play and then choose the console in which u can play those games because none of the consoles is going to disappoint u in terms of performance
I'm just happy that Sony made it sort of easy to clean the PS5 from dust. Because you're definitely not intended to take that thing apart. I think they did a good job with the side panels and the dust removal ports.
Effectiveness remains to be seen.
