Clicked so fast in this video! I'm Brazilian but I went to India in 2018, just two weeks before my mom passed out, and I have the place PREPARED ME for that situation. It's so highly spiritual and inspirational, I think I never learned so much in my life despite the crazy environment, so I hope you can let all that millenary culture sink in and embrace it. I know it can be crazy but I can honestly see you becoming a bit Indian yourself. So many nice people and such a beautiful place. And for a vegan girl like you, I bet the food will be amazing! If you're feeling lonely (I often get that since I travel a lot for work) you should definitely try to write! Writing is great company. Love you Niomi.
How fortunate you are to me able to experience another culture for an extended period of time. You have the perfect attitude to take in and learn and grow from this opportunity. With the hell of technology, family and friends can be seen virtually. I’m looking forward to hearing more about what you discover. Enjoy the journey.
Whenever I go to India I usually eat fruit over there. I've had it at hotels and off the road and I'm usually ok with it. You just need to carefully check the fruit when you're buying it off the road just like you would if you're getting it from the market
@@Dianaxox3 The typical rule of thumb is that any fruit that has a thick peel is safe to eat. The concern comes for people who haven't built up a tolerance to the water in India. Fruit that is washed in water could have traces of bacteria that a lot of tourists/foreigners aren't used to and it ends up making them sick. So things like banana and papaya are usually fine because of their thick skin, but fruits like berries might cause problems before your digestive system gets accustomed!
@@Dianaxox3 well I mean normally people who get fruit from the store or market dont immediately get home and eat it. They wash and they look at the fruit to make sure it's ok to eat, youd do the same thing here, maybe especially in a new country.
If you are still looking for an apartment... You HAVE to live in South Bombay..... I cannot stress this enough As a fellow Bombayite, the crowd in the the South Bombay is much more...‘international’ or a better way of framing it would be - most similar to the western culture.... staying to be would be a much easier cultural shift and the people are really great too! A great place in south Bombay is also Colaba, or the Marine Drive are with great sea facing apartments with a killer view and sunset! Also, please take caution of the pollution here, it is WAYYYYY more polluted that’s the UK... trust me, I got a cold this morning cause of the pollution this morning itself and I’ve been living here for 10years🙈 So ya... this pollution is bad..... even for Indians
lol... and as a fellow Indian, for letting your "international" ass know we call this city Mumbai now Bombay is old story, maybe your "international" ancestors deprived you off of this update... :)
It's the Taj Mahal Hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace is in Agra. Glad that you have things planned out in terms of work. You can always get in touch if you want to do some street shopping or some going around. All the best!
Super excited for any content coming our way from India, seems like it will be fun and educational :) and don't worry about taking that week off, your health is a priority. And so happy to see you meeting with creators and trailblazers already, looks like there is so much to India that hasn't been talked about enough 🔥
I moved to Australia from the UK 2.5 years ago. I have been sick more here than ever before- think my body has been adjusting to new bacteria/pollen/air conditioning etc. Can’t wait to see more of this adventure with Joe! ❤️🇮🇳
Glad you’re enjoying it here! Take care of yourself and certain things can be overwhelming about living in India I hope you find your comfort and love in it!💕
Keep in mind, that you get used to the noise at night, but your body will never get used to noises, so the sleep is never as good as without the noise. Perhaps you could use earplugs for a better sleep? :-)
@@mm-bv9yg There's nothing easy about a transition from London to Mumbai, no matter how fancy things are. She really is a strong woman and clearly loves her soon-to-be husband.
Love seeing such an exciting new adventure from you 💛💛 can’t believe I’ve been watching you since, gosh, 2014 I think. Whenever you get in the swing of things and start doing more specific videos instead of vlogs again, I’d love to hear some networking tips from you. You seem so confident in forming connections with new people and it’s something I want to work on in 2020. Thanks for sharing.
This is so nostalgic! I'm in the UK for uni but when I moved to India I stayed in the Taj Mahal Palace until we found our apartment! To see you eating at Le 15 (my favourite place for macarons) and driving around where I've grown up makes my heart hurt but I'm so excited for this chapter of your life and I hope I run into you sometime!
I really do wish Niomi and Joe so much happiness in Mumbai. I do have to say I wont be surprised at all if they end up moving back home to the UK sooner than they think.
As someone who has moved abroad various times, just know that culture shock is a cycle and it's completely normal - first phase is the holiday phase, next is usually missing all of what you're comfortable with and used to, but then comes the true embracing and integration of the new culture. Accept and embrace each phase as they come and you'll be golden 🥰
It was so nice to see a glimpse of what a normal day for you looks like. Please would you be able to show us what you eat as well, like I'd be so interested to know what you had for lunch and dinner and snacks that day! Whether you spontaneously found a restaurant or cafe or did you go somewhere you'd previously read about? Indian food is so delicious but I know it's difficult to find very authentic Indian food outside India, so that's something I'd love to see! I hope you are having the best time. X
Watching this vlog reminisces me much to when I went to Mumbai for work 3 years ago. I'd love to go back and explore more, hopefully for holidays. Good luck for your new adventure in Mumbai, Niomi!
I also moved to india a year and a half ago but to Delhi One thing I really recommend though do get an air purifier and try to wear a mask outdoors and always check the air quality in your area
I’m so glad you are getting out there and exploring a bit on your own. You look and sound happy and excited and that’s so great! I’m so happy for you! Looking forward to more vlogs and seeing more sights, and perhaps learning more about India’s history and culture through your exploration. Just stay aware of your surroundings and be extra careful, just as you would in any big city! Congratulations on making this transition with such a positive attitude! Choosing to make this a wonderful opportunity will ensure it!
So glad to see a video with so much positivity after such a big change for you! Once you're more settled, I'd love to see a video from you discussing some of the challenges you're experiencing. Your audience wants to see the good and the bad! A years ago I did a trip to India for a few weeks, and I remember really just missing having a leafy salad!
I could't feel more identified with you! I moved from Mexico to Germany two and a half months go because my husband got a new job here. It has been quite an experience. I have had so much fun, but also I do get that weird feeling like it's not real or something and like I'm on a holiday, specially because we also lived in a hotel while looking for a place. Its a great experience with little harsh moments, but if you are anything like me you will make the best of the experience and you'll grow so much! Anyway, what Im trying to say is that I'm proud of you for doing this, moving countries with such different cultures, in a place where you don't know a lot of people can be difficult. It's ok to enjoy it, it's ok to miss home. Hope you keep doing great and that you meet lots of lovely people in Mumbai! Xoxo
Pre-cut fruits from a hotel like you are staying is as good as pre-cut fruits we get at breakfast in any hotels in US or UK or even better . The pre-cut fruits you should not eat is what is from the road side or vendors. But buying a whole fruit from them , washing and eating is no problem at all. Well, there are big supermarkets and fancy grocery stores in all Indian cities with almost everything you can get everywhere else in the world. You will figure all out in a few weeks! India is really a vast mixture, there is fully developed modern part(includes the hotel like you are staying and educated and high life style people) to the very extreme poor. But thats what make India incredible. referring to a comment here : Like all big cities around the world ( Spain, Rome, Milan, some parts of UK, San Fransisco etc ), robbery is present in Indian cities too, does not mean you cant wear jewelry or take valuables with you. But like everywhere else, just be cautious. Enjoy! :) And Niomi is already in contact with the celebrity circle, eg: Pooja Dingra :)
But the pre-cut fruit in the hotel has been washed in tap water, right? That is why it's a good idea to avoid it, until your system is used to all the new bacteria.
@@Jojo-cl6pe all the good hotels have trained chef and staff who have the same standards and practices like the chef/staff world wide, and tap water in India is directly consumable depending upon the area and source, plus modern apartments and hotel do have filteration system! Joe works for IPL (means he gets to work with International cricket team members, who are millionaires/billionaires) So definitely Niomi and Joe will be staying in and getting access to all the best facilities anyways. :)
Absolutely loved watching this! Mumbai is my favourite city in the world and that Taj hotel my fave hotel (still have to stay there once)! Also just recently visited Le 15 and you're right it's sooo beautiful. Next time also try the tofu scramble as it's absolutely delicious. You're an absolute trooper and it's lovely watching all your new impressions. Much love and have fun❤️
Was waiting for this video!Niomi in India you'll get to see the real world and how hard life is and how people go on with it as well as all the cool and beautiful things about India! You should actually visit Kerala or Goa once and also make sure to check out cool shows on Netflix India. Loved your video..it was so cool and different from other youtubers hope to see more of it!
Yes Goa & Kerala is not gonna be a part of JOE'S cricket trip.....so you should take some spare parts to check out different cultures such as.... PORTUGUESE CULTURE OF GOA CULTURE OF KERALA actually you would find every difference in between 150-200 kms from one place to another.... Forgive me for my bad english in advance 😅
When I moved overseas from the UK my mum told me not to sit at home and expect people to knock on my door. Instead I need to be proactive and meet up with people at groups or activities (expat groups are great) as the quickest way to make new friends, and she was right! You already seem to be doing this but for others considering a move like yous I hope this helps you settle in quickly and have a wonderful time in your new home :)

Loved the video, it’s so interesting to see what you’ve been up to! You just radiate positivity, I admire how you are embracing it all with such an open mind, I hope you have a fantastic week doing more exploring 😊
I would suggest you to wear PM 2.5 (fine dust) masks. You can google the air quality index AQI and check it every day for your city, i do that always when i am in Asia, especially Seoul and Taipei. If it's really bad i wear a mask, because the fine dust really gets to me. I get throat infections and feel very tired and without energy. So better be protected, especially since you are not used to the fine dust. In London it can be bad too but not even close to the levels India has!
I find it so incredible when people move to a new country, I moved 3 hours away from my friends/family & HATED the first month. I literally cried everyday because I was so home sick. I don’t hate it now...don’t love it either but everyday gets better. It will be interesting to see how you end up liking living in India!

So inspiring , good luck on this new adventure... One positive is you have tons of "fans" from other countries so you can hopefully feel more content knowing people can recommend places, food and even friendships and business opportunities while in the new country. Enjoy xo wow your yoga was amazing.

I'm so glad to see that you keep being so down to earth and just the sweetest. Thank you for showing us a little bit of the city! ❤️
Also, watch Sex Education on Netflix to laugh a little!
You are doing amazing, very inspiring how you are throwing yourself into life in India 💖 hope you and Joe make the best memories there! X
Thank you so much x
I'm so excited to see where your journey will bring you! Can't wait to see more vlogs from India
come to INDIA.
What could be wrong with it though? I dont get the warnings that she got 😂
@@Dianaxox3 I honestly don't know
@@Dianaxox3 The typical rule of thumb is that any fruit that has a thick peel is safe to eat.
@@BeautyMoon6 Ah thank you that makes sense!
Wow your video looks amazing. Please can you do a Q&A soon on your time in India, Can’t wait to see you on this new journey of yours xx
If you are still looking for an apartment... You HAVE to live in South Bombay..... I cannot stress this enough
As a fellow Bombayite, the crowd in the the South Bombay is much more...‘international’ or a better way of framing it would be - most similar to the western culture.... staying to be would be a much easier cultural shift and the people are really great too! A great place in south Bombay is also Colaba, or the Marine Drive are with great sea facing apartments with a killer view and sunset!
Also, please take caution of the pollution here, it is WAYYYYY more polluted that’s the UK... trust me, I got a cold this morning cause of the pollution this morning itself and I’ve been living here for 10years🙈
So ya... this pollution is bad..... even for Indians
What do you mean by 'international'?
@@alex-sv8ru they drink earl grey tea, munch on cucumber sandwiches and say f off instead of bc. Very International.
She means white
lol... and as a fellow Indian, for letting your "international" ass know we call this city Mumbai now Bombay is old story, maybe your "international" ancestors deprived you off of this update... :)
It's the Taj Mahal Hotel, the Taj Mahal Palace is in Agra. Glad that you have things planned out in terms of work. You can always get in touch if you want to do some street shopping or some going around. All the best!
What a beautiful hotel and interior. They blend with your look so well. How lovely! Enjoy this adventure.

Oh and my hair and skin changed so much- frizzy hair and big pores! Haha! I had to change all my hair care and skin care and all settled now!
Good advice ☺️
So true! I learned that the hard way when I moved into a noisy city! Earplugs are a life saver.

@Anna Smith Oh, I think it's wonderful that she went, and I LOVE that she's so supportive, but honestly, I wouldn't have gone. More power to her.
I think she was also looking for an adventure herself. She has been saying for years she wants to live abroad at some time so its the perfect kombo
mnelson2008 she has an easy life though. She just lives in a fancy hotel and eats expensive food.

When you’ve settled in I would love to see a what I eat in a day/week in india

I really do wish Niomi and Joe so much happiness in Mumbai. I do have to say I wont be surprised at all if they end up moving back home to the UK sooner than they think.
As someone who has moved abroad various times, just know that culture shock is a cycle and it's completely normal - first phase is the holiday phase, next is usually missing all of what you're comfortable with and used to, but then comes the true embracing and integration of the new culture. Accept and embrace each phase as they come and you'll be golden 🥰
Thank you for this x
@@niomismart I'm so proud of you.
I also moved to india a year and a half ago but to Delhi
One thing I really recommend though do get an air purifier and try to wear a mask outdoors and always check the air quality in your area
which air purifier would you recommend @nrinejichi

Omg I can’t believe you moved to India!!! I am Indian and couldn’t imagine doing what you are!
So glad u came to India 💓
M from east India.. love u & ur videos.. so inspiring
Perfect timing! I literally JUST finished watching the previous video of them getting ready to move to India!

Enjoy! :)
And Niomi is already in contact with the celebrity circle, eg: Pooja Dingra :)
But the pre-cut fruit in the hotel has been washed in tap water, right? That is why it's a good idea to avoid it, until your system is used to all the new bacteria.
Jo Jo, No. They use filtered water to wash fruit and veggies in hotels.
God these white people - just eat the fruit your probably in a 5 star hotel
@@Jojo-cl6pe all the good hotels have trained chef and staff who have the same standards and practices like the chef/staff world wide, and tap water in India is directly consumable depending upon the area and source, plus modern apartments and hotel do have filteration system! I'm really excited for all the videos from India that coming our way. :)
PORTUGUESE CULTURE OF GOA
CULTURE OF KERALA
actually you would find every difference in between 150-200 kms from one place to another....
Forgive me for my bad english in advance 😅

@KV MCU As a Tourist I have loved the place .. Neatness which is not seen much in other parts of India.. It's virtually God's own Country ..

Looking forward to seeing more of this big adventure. Surprised Joe’s employer hasn’t sorted out an apartment.
Yes, I think the same 😲 you would think his employer would have at least assisted them in finding accommodation.
amcluesent never heard of employers sorting out accomodation..
As an expat, we have to sort that out ourselves. They only pay for it. And there's a budget for the rental as well.
Most companies don’t sort out your accommodations for you. They give you a budget and that’s about it.
@@surlespasdondine wow it's quite common for large companies and high profile jobs. In London near us we have almost an entire street where a company puts their Japanese employees.
