Gasoline Fuel Storage in Blue Plastic Drums

  • A video discussing the storage of fuel in blue plastic drums from my experience and its similarities to red fuel cans. Red fuel cans and blue UV resistant drums are both made of HDPE (High-Density Poly Ethylene).
    Oh, by the way, we researched the extra number on the black drum. It references the casting process. Here's an extra backup link to Wikipedia on HDPE.

    Because I just got five of the good ones for fuel just like that one but they have the lid. I’m going to make airtight, but I also want to put a pressure relief valve on it.

    What about a pressure relief valve or a temperature relief valve for pressure

      That is a good idea. A lot of guys keep the barrels full to the highest point. It seems to keep pressure away.

    Won't gasoline melt plastic?

      Certain plastics. The blue and black drums are made out of the same plastic the red gas cans are made out of, not to mention much thicker. I hear you, i'd prefer steel drums, but I have both now. Both are full of gas and i have no problems.
