Hey guys, quick tip. At Walmart or wherever ur buying ur paint cans from, they make a 2 dollar snap on. Goes right over the sprayer. It has a trigger u can use. Doesn't make your finger tired and its a consistent spray. Nice little attachment u can use for all your cans. Figured id share so y'all can take a look into it when doing ur projects 🤘😜🔥
Having just cleaned and rebuilt a 92 gallon RV gas tank, I'd recommend to you or anyone else cleaning up a fuel tank for long-term use to add enough large access ports for cleaning and inspection. I made mine but you can also buy them for $$$. I'll add that I tried all sorts of methods to clean and de-rust the tank. Electrolysis worked best for de-rusting (for me). I didn't have one, but, I believe a high-pressure steam cleaner would have worked best for the nasty residue found inside old tanks. BUT #1 advise, BE SAFE, follow all precautions for dealing with tanks or just get a pro to do it for you. PS You have a lovely family and they do a great job! Cheers.
Thanks for the input Wayne Pennington! I lucked out in that my tank was sealed up and had enough petroleum residue that there wasn’t much for rust inside. Good advice for anyone though. Thanks for the kind words also!
I was thinking putting like some kind of more permanent pad for it like a concrete pad or something might be better and also I'm thinking that you definitely should put that thing under some shade out of the Sun it's hard to tell if you're like under really good shade from a tree or something where it is now but I was thinking I would put like a little cover over it all the time otherwise pretty cool I had this idea cool to see somebody take action to put some things together with one. Cool video.
I suggest adding a ground line and ground rod near the tank. Perhaps the hose and nozzle have a ground (wire mesh to strenghten) running through them already? If so, then you only need to pound a ground rod into the ground near the tank. You don't want static electricity to ignite vapors when you fueling something. Look at fueling procedures for aircraft or farm equipment - for motor vehicles you always have the nozzle in contact with the car when fueling so that static electricity (from fuel flow) does not build up and cause a spark to ignite vapors coming off gasoline.
Hi D Schlott- thanks for the comment! I agree this is a good idea. I suppose I could bolt a copper wire to the leg of the tank (scraped to bare metal first) and to the ground rod. And yes the hose has a grounding wire throughout.
Hi TheTuttleCrew! It was purely an aesthetic decision. The tank is much more acceptable to everyone if it blends in with the summer foliage. Probably not ‘code’, I realize. Thanks for watching!
@@NashwaukSteve I picked up some great ideas from you I have 3 tanks 2 for gas and 1 for diesel and I need to clean them tomorrow. So I will use Ajax and my pressure sprayer. I also made a note of the type of pipe thread dope you use so I can pick that up as well as 3 locking ball valves. Where did you find the locking caps on the top end of the tanks? If you remember. I have the trucks coming to fill Thursday or Friday. 325 gallons of diesel, 87 octane, and 91 octane (the type of gases without the ethanol for storage). Thanks again! Cute kids we have 4! New sub!
Hello! I got the locking cap on Amazon. It vents for positive pressure and vacuum. Some say the locking hasp is weak, but I just don’t horse it around, and I’ve had no trouble. Cim-Tek 60002 Locking Pre Vent Cap. Kids make projects fun, usually more time consuming, but still more fun. Thanks and good luck!
There's one thing you also forgot besides anchoring that tank properly so it doesn't roll over ground straps so that this thing doesn't blow up if you create a spark from that tank and yes you also do need a secondary way to capture any fuel that could possibly leak or spill from that tank should the tank rupture it should be a double lined tank they're usually White with a vacuum sealed between the two tanks to ensure there's no leakage to the atmosphere
keep in mind you may need a permit from the local fire marshal for that much fuel storage otherwise you could be in for a very large fine if they find out about it

Thanks for the info! That’s a great idea!
Nice work!
Thanks Gabriel- I’m loving having some gas on my property. Super convenient!

@@NashwaukSteve Thank you for sharing your efforts, knowledge and adventures in life with all of us. I wish you well in all that you do.
Great video! Only one question: how come you did not paint it safety red?

@@NashwaukSteve Thank you Steve! Great job on the Star Wars mural.
Hey, thank you! That mural looks so good in our daughter’s room. I’m very happy with the result!
Good job I'd try to cover it from the sun so you don't get condensation build up especially for diesel

Asking the government......Duh..... were you born yesterday ?
Officials will regulate you to death after they have cleaned out your bank account.

Yep!
I want to put a 24 volt pump and turn it in a gas station just to me...its great idea
Nice idea! Having gas on hand has been awesome since I put this in. Good luck!
Hope you had it filled, if so, you are wealthy.
Nice post! I think you'd enjoy my videos too. Keep up with your great work! ❤️💞
