I love your new buildings. Growing up in Chicago we would go to the downtown area and all the buildings were big and tall like those you have there. In the winter time all the big department stores pretty much had a whole floor dedicated to Christmas and Santa Clause. Sometimes you would get off the subway underground and walk straight into one of these stores as they had an entrance with store front windows too. Christmas in the City brings all that nostalgia back. Always a joy to relive the old days when I was a small boy.
That’s a wonderful memory Pete. The power of nostalgia is amazing. I have similar memories of Philadelphia at Christmas and the fun of eating at the Automat before a visit to Santa at Wannamakers department store.
I’m 33, and I’m just starting to collect for a Christmas village! Can’t wait to leave these memories for my children and to pass my collection on to them! Loved this video!!

Wonderful! I have family members and friends into Department 56, and this set is extraordinary! If I could convert part of our garage into a diorama, I would also add vintage aircraft with operating propellers and lights; perhaps even an airship 😎
I love the idea of the airship. I recently found a Marklin tinplate airplane at a train show. I'm going to review and restore it on an upcoming episode and then add it to my layout. It sounds like we think alike. Thanks for watching!
Love that you showed all the tall building and train and car to go with them….Still collecting the tall ones The Empire State has gotten so pricy at 800.-1,200 and hope to get it one day. Thanks for video

I think it would be real real neat to see a more uncommon take with some of the art deco skyscrapers of the 1930's such as General electric, 70 Pine, and perhaps Rockefeller. Wonderful showcase.
Thanks. I agree about the Art Deco buildings. Department 56 did do a rendition of the Rockefeller Building Skating Rink that has the large Greek figure above the rink. The full building would be nice,

I found the Empire State Building at the thrift store for $16! Unfortunately it’s missing the plug and the bulbs any idea where I could find those?
Department 56 is selling replacement lights here: department56.com/products/replacement-adapter-3v-dc-1300ma-white-male-auxiliary-clip-w-2-light-bar?_pos=1&_sid=2c190bc75&_ss=r. I'm not sure if this powers the light changing spire at the top as well.
What are the scale of the skyscrapers?
It’s impossible to say with Department 56. Their buildings never fall under a definable scale.

I’d guess somewhere between N and HO scale.
Is the buildings to scale to the seasons bay sets from way back when?
All of these Skyline buildings are scaled down significantly to fit into the villages. They might be as small as 1:110. Most Department 56 buildings range in scale between 1:48 and 1:56. Seasons Bay was closer to 1:64. These differences are very minor in my opinion and they all seem to fit well together. I used all of the different Department 56 Villages in my layout shown in ua-cam.com/video/rHGhUxu86XE/v-deo.htmlsi=T8hQPxP-APKZgDcP and I think they blended together very well. Take a look and see what you think.
I do indeed like your layout but my personal opinion is that the scale works well for like those back drop scenes, I only have the seasons bay but I might try to convince my mom into getting the New York stuff for her model town. I hopefully will give you more information in the coming months.
How do you get the current year on times tower? I just purchased this piece and the first numbers are one piece. Thanks for any help you can give.
The year numbers are paper cut outs. Department 56 issued a pdf of the year numbers a few years ago. They used to be available on the D56 website under “parts” but I don’t think they are still posted.

@@TheBigCrabCake you’re telling me! department 56 is great quality but wow, they are the most expensive brand compared to Lemax and Maynards
