Don't walk from Downtown to the Strip. Even though The Strat doesn't look that far away, it's actually at least a 45 minute walk just to The Strat through some seedy parts of town.
I think a big mistake people make is not getting the players cards at hotels if they're going to do any type of gambling. This is the best way to get rated, comps, etc... If you get high enough rating they'll waive the resort fees, valet fees, etc... Great video Norma, always love watching your vlogs and tips and tricks videos. Someday I'd love to meet up and collab with ya! Take care!
The biggest mistake is not having some plans. Have a few restaurant reservations and maybe a show or two. Then I have a list of things that you want to do but not on a certain day or time. That way there's always something to do when you have lost your gambling budget for the day. So your not tempted to chase your losses.
Thank you so much for pointing out the tip about being nice to staff (even when things go wrong). I can say first hand that this tip came in handy for us a week ago when we had issues at Luxor with our room not getting cool. While the end result was us having to move over to Horseshoe at midnight and having to check out and reschedule/replan a lot of our planned content on a whim, I cannot say anything bad about the staff at Luxor and how well they handled it, and how willing they were to work with us just because we were calm and worked with them to try to get the matter resolved. As someone who works in hospitality, this tip really hit home and staff is always more willing to work with you when you are calm. So many great tips in this one. -Paul
@@larrybudsock6507 at the time, Luxor and similar priced MGM properties were all completely booked up. No rooms to move us to. That was actually the first thing we asked about. -James
@@larrybudsock6507 I agree... but there were no rooms at all. The MGM app literally had everything but Vdara listed as sold out when James checked it. Which prompted me to then pull up my Caesars app and look for available options. But circling back to Norma's topic of the video, be nice to staff - We didn't yell at the person at the desk when this happened nor did we demand, we explained the issue, asked them about solutions to it, allowed them to provide said solution (bringing a fan up, doubling our dining credit, and checking the AC), and then when said solution did not work, we went back down and worked with the staff to find a workable solution which was them releasing us from the room and us going elsewhere. -Paul
Overbooking and over planning our trip. I normally make so many plans that we’re always on the go and never really get to relax. The last time we went we just went with the flow and had an amazing time!😊 Thanks for the tips…I always watch your videos and take notes before a Vegas trip.❤
This is a great video Norma. Although I'm a frequent visitor this was a great update to your previous video. Unfortunately, so many things changed since 2020 this was definitely needed, for new and old visitors. Well done! Thank you.
Local here. I combine my travel transport to work at the strip via ebike and 2 busses. You are 100 percent right on with the jaywalking which is my biggest pet peeve when I get off the bus at RIP Tropicana Casino and bike/walk my way towards CityCenter for work. I just shake my head when hordes of people rush in to cross when the light is still palm red especially the crosswalk between Denny's and M&M store by Hard Rock Restaurant and MGM Resort area.
You are correct about the resort fees, however you can have them waived if you show that you have been spending in the properties associated with what ever brand you are staying with eg: MGM or Caesars If you can "tier up" as I like to call it you can have those fees waived for your stay and you will also receive better bounce back offers from the company you were staying with....In this case always charge EVERYTHING back to you room to show your spending to the company and solely gamble at any of that companies properties
Attempted to pre check-in at Golden Nugget. Was told to pay the early check in fee or come back at 3pm and wait in line again. Have had success at other properties though..
I moved to Vegas 4 months ago and I've wanted to know all about the hidden gems and local places to go and meet people love your channel I'm happy I found this hidden 💎
Informative video, though I partially disagree on two items. First, I prefer to use a taxi over Uber to and from the airport, mainly for convenience. Uber pick up spots can be confusing to find, and they are often placed in inconvenient spots at the hotels, requiring a longer walk in the hot weather. With the fixed pricing in place, taxis are just faster and more convenient. Secondly, it’s not only international travelers that haven’t visited certain fast food and chain restaurants. In-N-Out is primarily a west coast operation, and I can tell you where I live there is only McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC and Jack In the Box. You can bet when I fly to Las Vegas I will visit places like Raising Cane’s, Whataburger and Dairy Queen at least once. It allows me to try different things at lower prices.
Me and my daughter were there in March and had opposite experience at airport with taxis vs Uber. We tried to find Uber pick up but was not easy (granted, we are from smaller city in Canada but we saw no signs and trying to follow directions from others we did not do well at). We found the taxi pick up easy and it ended up being $7 less! We tried using uber once more day after and heck of a time again finding Uber pick up spot at the near-by hotel we had to go to and then it dropped us off in the Paris garage way at back. Taxi was much easier to use in our experience, and we enjoyed the deuce bus as well! 😊
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! For mentioning the crosswalk in front of Paris!!!! It is BY FAR the worst crosswalk issue I've dealt with anywhere. I use it daily and nearly see someone's death DAILY. The city or county or both NEEDS TO completely remove the middle section where people stand and rework that whole intersection to fix the issue. The lights are TOTALLY mistimed with how long it takes people to cross. I remember from one of your F1 videos last year you had a close call in that exact spot! My HOPE is that when Bellagio's expansion is being done they retool that area to make it as close to a true 4-Way intersection as possible.
Bring tip money. I don't care where you're from. Vegas is a service driven industry. A couple bucks truly goes a long way in vegas. Free room upgrades, faster valet, cutting long lines, show seating upgrades, faster entry to venues, better drinks, awesome experiences, etc
@@joshuadrake1993 yes they should. I don't tip everywhere for no reason. But that is another conversation. These monsterous properties require so many people to function. Some go above and beyond And deserve to be rewarded. And if you want a basic experience then don't tip. But a couple bucks have helped me a lot. Cut 30 minute lines for buffets for a couple bucks. Valet has left my car right out front and still brought it a couple feet to me so I don't have to wait. I was standing in the middle of the Bellagio buffet and I finished my juice and a worker asked to take my glass. Did the open bar on the high roller and the bartender was making everybody a drink at a time cause it was pretty full. Couple bucks and he gave my group of 6 multiple shots. I booked the Fonatinebleau and arrived to my check in very early last month. I believe like 11am or close to noon. I checked in and they told me that my room was ready so I got to put my stuff and rest at my room earlier than I expected. That was good. I'm glad you mentioned that in your video.
Looking beautiful as always Norma, 😍 I love your grey top! To get from the airport to the strip, I usually use public transit! It is not obvious where the buses are, though! They need to put better signage. But, basically, when you get out of the gate, you want to keep going straight all the way to the other side of the airport, then go down to the bottom level, and when you go outside, go to the right, and you should see a few public transit buses parked there. In other airports there's usually signs that say "ground transportation" and then "public transportation this way" with an arrow...they need more of that at LAS! 🙂 Also, what would really help is to extend the monorail to the airport! 🙂 One downside of taking the bus, it does take longer, 40-60 minutes, versus 15 minutes in a cab, but it's a lot cheaper. 🙂
In the past I would stay at the Bellagio, but they have become so expensive. I am switching to the Horseshoe. For a Fountain View King size bedroom, it is saving me over $2,000. Plus, I spend a lot of time on the Horseshoe side of the Blvd. That will save me a lot of walking time. Also, I know to budget my gambling, to $ XXX per day. If I have money left over from a day, I put that aside.
Fun fact on Friends Ross and Rachel got married at A Little White Chapel (according to the sign they showed out front 😊) and my husband and I got married there 2 years ago. We stayed at the Mirage and I met you at the concierge desk! ❤
Regarding taxi or rideshare from the airport: we fly to Vegas 3-5 times a year. Rideshare IS usually cheaper BUT you have to walk further to pickup points in the garages and wait in a longer line most of the time. You can generally walk straight out from baggage claim and get right into a cab or maybe have only 1 or 2 people ahead of you. For us time is more important than saving $5 or $10 so to your point, yes it’s the start of your trip and we like to get it rolling quickly LOL
For number 1 I rented a limo to take me to the airport, thus avoiding the lines and hassle of getting a taxi. Number 2 i always see lines of people trying to check-in early in the morning, usually locals that want to stay an extra day for free.
It is to the best of my understanding illegal to sell the drinks from coolers on the strip. What the people will do is pick through the garbage for water bottles and then fill them in the resort bathrooms. When they hand them to you they will twist off the cap first. Also remember that glass bottles and cups are also illegal on the strip that is why the resorts have plastic cup stands by the doors to put your drink in before you walk out.
I will say, with regards to the airport, you can also get a shuttle which can be cheaper for 1 person, but you will have to wait up to an hour for the shuttle, and then you still gotta wait to get to your hotel.
Great tips as always Norma. I'm from the east side of Canada and I do look forward to my Shakeshack burger and In-n-Out but I normally frame that with the more expensive eats so that I get the best of both worlds. As well there still are pretty good mid price places to eat if you know what you are looking for. One of your suggestions I always follow is check the temp before you fly. I've been there in 117f summer and 50f late fall with radical changes between day and night. Thanks as always for all you do.
The incidental deposit in Las Vegas is also CRAZY! It’s for each night, that’s on top of the resort fee.. I notice no one talks about the room deposit, I mean you get it back a check out but a lot of ppl get surprised by it when checking in cause all you expect is resort fees
I can't believe I didn't put two and two together about drunk driving in Vegas. In general I think a big mistake is to not be aware of your surroundings especially while on the strip. All the landmarks and sights are fun, but they're also distracting. Not only could you get hurt tripping over something or wandering into traffic, you also run the risk of pickpocketing if you aren't careful. Big fan of these videos, you've been a big help when it comes to prepping for my trip in the fall!!
I would add that people who don't visit Vegas often tends to drink alcohol way too much when they're in the city and they don't drink water. My first visit to Vegas, I got so dehydrated that I felt like crap the whole day and didn't get to do much on my first day in Vegas.
As usual, norma is 100% right on all these. I had to learn a few of these myself the hard way. I needed a Norma decades ago when I started going to LV. Lol
Love all your information, will be in Vegas in October for a week and making plans now. Got married in Vegas 30 years ago and going back to celebrate 🎉
So many much needed and really great tips, tricks, ideas, and suggestions. Vegas is always changing, so these tips and such are even helpful for the visitors that travel to Vegas often. I truly loved this video, and even learned a few things. Exceptional job Norma!! 🌠
April 1st 2024 , flew in from Boston was about 11pm we scored a taxi to NY NY and our room wasn’t ready until 3:30 am . Took away all hotel fees but omg sweat pants and pocket full of cash for almost 5 hrs
This video reminded me to make my dinner reservation for Thanksgiving. If you are kind of cheap and do not want to walk, get a bus pass you can use on The Deuce, which runs in a continuous loop from the Las Vegas sign to downtown Las Vegas. Realize there is more to Las Vegas than gambling - there are shows, people watching, restaurants, specialty stores, and if you want to splash out some money, and it is the right season, you can take in hockey and pro football. Youi can also take tours to places like the Grand Canyon, to see amncient petroglyphs, or to Mt. Charleton, Hoover Dam, etc. Or if you have a vehicle, go to the Neon Museum or Area 15. Also, pick your hotel for the type of person and experiance you want. If you are older and want something more upscale, you will be at places like Bellagio, Paris, Venetian, Wynn, Encore Fountainbleau, etc. Young party person - you will be at Planet Hollywood, Flamingo, Linq, or most any of the hotels in downtown Las Vegas. Family trip - Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Horshoe and only visit Excalibur or Circus Circus.
An excellent advice video!!! You covered the best tips!! Although it’s amazing how many people ignore these tips!!🤦🤦🏻♀️. I see you snuck in a cameo of Periwinkle!! And I think Richard needs a live in girlfriend…..name her Raquel!!!😂😂
I live in Chicago and definitely do my fair share of jaywalking. In Vegas though, nahh. It was wild just standing there waiting for the light and watching people just walk around into the street without even looking for cars.
Hey Norma ! I agree with most of this except your advice on taking a taxi from the airport. It’s almost always less then Uber and Lyft or at least in the same range and there are a million of them lined up outside waiting for you . The chaotic ride share area at the airport plus the widely fluctuating prices are a turn off so for me the taxi is the way better option. As for resort fees ..with my Caesars Diamond status and MGM gold I haven’t paid resort fees in more than 5 years . Lots of great tips though …appreciate all you do 😎😎😎
Such great tips! I watched many many of your videos before we went on our trip this past March (1st timers, took my daughter for 21st) and your videos were very helpful. We had a great time! Even though we lost our grand canyon trip as our flight was canceled twice and delayed so lost over a day.😢. I was lucky as I booked an extra day so we still had a great time and I’m hoping one day to get back to see/do more and 💯 see the Grand Canyon! 😊
I am a gambler. I go to Las Vegas to gamble, I'm not looking for a gastronomic experience. I had the $19.99 steak at the Four Queens and that was good enough for me. Again that's me. Now if you are going to Las Vegas for the food then of course you will be looking for the best.
I’ve been going to Vegas for 20 years, at least 10 visits. Norma G. Is the most concise and informed reviewer! My last trip to Vegas was my most efficient and memorable thanks to Norma’s excellent recommendations ! She’s the best!! 🤩 I’m so glad I found her unrivaled content.

Thank You Norma for such an informative video! 👍 Enjoyed watching! 😀 You are still one hot 🌶 🧲 👍
Hi Norma, Love your videos!!! I love the Paris Hotel. We always stay there whenever visiting Las Vegas!!!
Awesome info! Thank you, Norma!
Norma you're the best at what you do, keep up the great work!
The incidental deposit in Las Vegas is also CRAZY! It’s for each night, that’s on top of the resort fee.. I notice no one talks about the room deposit, I mean you get it back a check out but a lot of ppl get surprised by it when checking in cause all you expect is resort fees
I have been a fan for years. This is your best video!❤
Good point. 👍
Another useful video. Thanks
Awesome job Norma drop a like for you
6:40 good advice as I booked a reservation in advanced. Ill be checking the lobster buffet at ACYE buffet.
Love the bloopers ! TIMBO
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
Great job Norma. You look great as always.
Great info. I have a whole list of foodie places and sites to see. I don't really gamble much.
WHY HOTELS CHARGE RESORT FEES EVEN THOUGH ITS ILLEGAL BY THE NEVADA STATE LAW🤔🤔🤔🤔
agreed. on all the tips, I love Vegas
Cold casino tip is norma gold 👌
Norma You have the prettiest smile on you tube love watching your videos
Easy pervert
"Dont do it corner"!!! - Norma needs shirts 🤣😂🤣
You always do a great job Norma and your vids are enjoyable. Keep up the good work :)
That resort fee caught me off guard when I went a couple of years ago. Thank goodness I had the $200.
You can get resort fees waived. Work your way up to diamond tier for Caesars and gold for mgm.
The money you blow working your way to those statuses has already paid for days of resort fees
Always great content 👌 Norma 😊
Don't do it...Not the children the grandmas and the wheelchairs! Thanks Norma for another great video! I think the new mics sound good.✌
Thank you for this informative vlog. Have an amazing weekend. Cheers.
Great Video Norma..!!! Thanks for sharing......now I know.... :D
Hi Norma! 😊 I'm flying to Vegas this afternoon, doing the Star Trek Convention this weekend. Yay!
Excellent job as always! Sending thanks 😊
Lots of great tips though …appreciate all you do 😎😎😎
That's a decent run around of sights and sounds.
Great points Norma.
Agree about people jaywalking.
Have seen so many near misses because people don't give a darn.
Don't do it!!!
I’ve been to Vegas 5 times you are so spot on about everything 😊
You're the best Norma!
I am a gambler. I go to Las Vegas to gamble, I'm not looking for a gastronomic experience. I had the $19.99 steak at the Four Queens and that was good enough for me. Again that's me. Now if you are going to Las Vegas for the food then of course you will be looking for the best.
Omg Norma looks so pretty here. ❤️
Great video. Very informative
🌴Aloha !! SO True ! Love your videos 😎good info🤙🏽Mahalo !
Thanks Norma, you always look after us and make sure we have the best time ever 🫶
Caesars does wave resort fees Diamond tier player’s card holders. Plus, free parking for Platinum tier or higher…
Norma is absolutely 💯 correct ✅️ - Avoid the mini bar !
Great video Norma 😊❤ one thing happened to me when trying to get into the night club at Caesar was I was wearing all black Nike hurraches (sp?) and the bouncer didn’t let me go through he even had the nerve to tell me I can go over to the shops and buy acceptable shoes I’m like wtf but then he was cool and let us in cause to was early and we just wanted to get pics inside lol
Another great video! What are you doing to look so FIT?
