Fishing was a tiny slice of overall GDP.
Yet, Nige managed to fold in flag shgging and "sovurinty" and turn every pub shouter into a cheerleader.
He put up posters with long lines of Turks, yet failed to spot the turk who clowned his way into clowning st.
And now we've joined CPTPP (WITHOUT A REFERENDUM) we're now lesser in sovurinty because corporations can sue our govt, if any peasant-friendly policy harms their profits!

In a way, the way the sawed the leg off was a big part of the problem. We could have simply chosen a looser form of Union on EFTA/Swiss terms and avoided a lot of the economic hardship. But the far right have full control of the Tory Party now and as they’re learning nothing short of full isolation and sending every migrant to the UK in the past 70 years will satisfy those in control of the Tories. Nothing is going to get better or change until the Government in power changes.

@alanhat5252 There is a difference between manufacturing something and packaging it. If my words made you think Grimsley was adding any value to the supply chain, then I take that back. Their contribution to the supply chain is PACKAGING FISH, and 2 things gave them jobs in the supply chain:
      1) Geographical location (closer to Iceland)
      2) Being part of the EU
It meant they were the gateway to the European market. The second is the most important reason for its place in the supply chain. Now that they are not in the EU, why would Iceland send it's fish through the UK just for packaging when they will have to face the EU regulations in an EU member state further down the supply chain anyways? Grimsley adds no value now. Just get the packaging done in an EU member state that is now your entry point in Europe. Hope that made it clear :D

So, what the fist fisherman says is, "we don't want to be a EU member, but want to have all the benefit of it..."
It's simple, *either you're in the EU or out of it* if you're out, than don't complain, that you've been treated differently ever since. But who could have foreseen that?! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏽‍♂️

In total there have only been 4 people identified as having profited from Brexit: BoJo, JRM, Arron Banks, Nigel Farage. That's it.

£16.00/Kg for Cod!!!! Wow! Thats about €18.50 (oops! Has the pound taken a nosedive post Brexit? Hahaha, hilarious) Where I live, in the EU, fresh Cod fillets are between €9 and €11 per Kilo (source: Carrefour online). That's well over 50% cheaper than in Grimsby - a f'ing fishing town!!! Unreal!!!

Depends on how the old the fish is,a fish fillet (whether cod, salmon, haddock) fresh frozen at sea or say farmed salmon killed at 0800 this morning is ALWAYS going to fetch a higher price than a three day old fillet.
Once you get close to five/seven days (depending on the type of fish) its down to £1 a kilo or less and goes to the smokers or animal feed/fertiliser.
And Grimbarians don't pay full price anyway

The British had one foot out the door for 40 years, they probably had to learn the hard way.
Brexit has helped the EU a lot by snuffing out all the Grexit, Frexit etc movements 😆

The EU is about working together for common prosperity. Brexit is about trying to derive benefits at the cost of others. Fortunately everyone now can see that the common good approach is a winning concept.

to regret: to feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over something that one has done or failed to do. [the Oxford Dictionary of the English Language]
So, regret they might under any other name, but it is futile, for the damage is done and the benefits will never come.

Yeah, but they don't regret what they did, only the consequences.
They're like toddlers throwing a tantrum because they threw their dinner on the floor. They don't regret the mess, only the lack of more food.

To think the EU wouldn't make trade difficult for us post Brexit is comical.

    • @ohauss

The EU didn't "make trade difficult", the advantages of being a member simply ceased to apply. The UK wanted to be a third party country, now it is a third party country, with all that implies. In fact, some of the regulations were drafted by the UK itself when it was still a member...

Really can never get my head around this Britains living in Spain businesses whose biggest trading partner or have an access to a market of 400 million people voted out? What is more shocking is there a Parts or a country that have been redeveloped funded by the European union not by the British government plaques around them they’re enjoying the fruits of this investment. And still they voted out.🤔
