I saw James darren in 1973 at our county fair in cobleskill New York. Of course I had loved him since i was 15 yrs. Old after seeing gidget. My sister and I met him and took a Polaroid picture with him. Unfortunately, my sister lost it. I married my husband after high school because he looked like James darre. We were married 58 years.
Jimmy Darren has always been the epitome of class. Though he, Frankie, Bobby and Fabian are the Prides of South Philadelphia, he will always have my heart. I've adored him since I first saw him as Moondoggie in Gidget when I was a mere 6 years old back in the early 60's. Met him back in the 90's, and he was still the most handsome, nicest GENTLEMAN.
Love them both! They're good guys, married to the same women forever, having traditional families, living sane lives instead of being tainted by the amoral insanity of Hollyweird.
I can't believe this, I'm reliving my youth, my 2 heart-throbs and I'm 80. We never hear anything "bad" about these gentlemen, they didn't seem to have problems with their children or their wives. Such lovely men.
Would love to see these two. I'm a product of the 50's and 60's but always listen to the 50's music. I simply love Jimmy Ercolani (James Darren). He's 10 years older than I but looks 1 years younger. Great genes in his blood.
I was blessed to see these two, as well as Fabian many years ago,. More exciting was being able to take my Mom who grew up listening to them. She was thrilled!
Have been in love with James Darren since I was 10 yrs. old. He was 13 yrs. older but I was still smitten. Still am! Love these two in this video. How much fun. Both look great and sound great. Would love to see them. Especially Jim! Dream on....LOL!
+Marianne McKenna It sounds ridiculous but I fell head over heels for James Darren when I was just 5 years old after watching him in the original Gidget movie. I remember I was devastated when the movie ended because I couldn't see him anymore. Still love that movie and him.
@@gloriahayes-thomas2797 I was 6, and for years thereafter, wished I could be a Gidget, so I could have my own Moondoggie. I have adored him ever since.
Love these guys, still got it, and I've had a crush on Frankie for a while and recently I have became infatuated with James. Even though he is a year younger than my father I still think he's great. Just got Gidget trio for my b-day April 22 and I've watched it 20 times already.
I LOVE BOBBY RYDELL, JAMES DARREN AND FRANKIE..ALL AMAZING MEN AND UNKNOWN TO MOST....James wed 1960 with 3 kids. Frankie, wed 1963 w/ 8 kids and Bobby, wed 09 w/ 2 and all 3 are still married. I worked w/ Frankie on "Back to the Beach" (89) and he looked the same......as did Annette.
Of course they knew each other. They lived just blocks from each other in South Philly. As did Bobby Rydell and Fabian. The neighborhoods were close and its' inhabitants even closer. My late Mom's girlfriend's niece actually dated Frankie Avalon before he met who would become his future wife, and another of her friends was Fabian's first manager. I was always told that I got a kiss on the cheek from him when I was 2, when my parents attended a wedding that both he and his manager attended back in the late 50's.
They should have duet-ed on Come Fly With Me. James Darren covered the song as Vic Fontaine. And Frankie (not Sinatra) sang the song over the film's title credits (1963). Sinatra sorta shanghai-ed the song and made it his own.
James Darren is like a fine wine...better and better with age. Frankie...not so much. He seems to be trying comedy to cover the fact that his voice is not as it was. Both very gracious, however. Philly boys!!

Met him several times over the years, at autograph shows. Always so kind!

I always wondered if James Darren and Frankie Avalon know each other. I got my answer when I cam across this video.
Both from South Philadelphia

Jimmy Darren was absolutely the best in every way.

Not everyone ages the same. He is still charming.

FRANKIE LOOKS LIKE HE'S WEARING A RUG
Still think they should team up and maybe with James Darren in casual clothes.
It's hard to get your groove back
