I also abandoned rap too. I started wearing vintage clothing from the 1950s and living a life. Though I've been judged a few times wearing vintage clothing but I don't care. I wanted to be like as if I were in the 50s. I have a 1950s radio, 1950s camera and I'm saving up for a 1959 Cadillac Coupe. So I'm trying to live a life as if I am in the 1950s. I'm 21 years old right now so I'm young to be wearing vintage clothing lol
Brooke, I was 5 years old when this song came out. I remember thinking all through the 1960s "Why couldn't I have been just ten years older." We all ache for having missed it.
i will not be ashamed to say this; being in my 70's and having lived through the birth of the rock/pop song era into its zenith in the '60's and '70's, "Venus" by Frankie Avalon is my #1 most favorite of them all. The words, melody and Frankie's voice all culminate into a plethora of memories of the late 1950's in my mind! What a glorious time and era from the late '50's to the early '60's we had back then. I sure do miss them!
When the melody was "King", everybody in the family could listen to the radio together, artists presented themselves with class, you could clearly understand the lyrics, and these songs made "The American Songbook" full of classic songs.
That is so true, after I started listening to 50s and 60’s music, I found that I could relate and listen to the songs with my parents and grandparents which is something you could definitely not do if you picked a random song off the radio today.
Also tons of censorship, women couldn't have a bank account, and racism was super alive and well. Music was great, but honestly this generation was a mess. Albeit a beautiful mess.
A dreamy teenager's song and the video is very good. I like the way he moves singing around the manequins dreaming about having a girl which is what we do when we fell the desire of a girl's company and have none. I still recall those days in my early teen years and how I envied my Pals who had steadies whilst I had no one except my own family. It is all part of growing up.
This song 🎶 bring back old memories, still listening in 2023 He have a soulful voice! This is my favorite song 🎶 so tell me are you a fan of Frankie Avalon…?
I would sing this song when I’m in a good mood 😄. I love it. it’s an evergreen song. Frankie was really cool in this song. Just so relax singing it. Thumbs up 👍🏻
I'm so very proud to be a Baby Boomer and I grew up listening to this song 🎵 during the 60's and I'm still listening to this music 🎶 🎵 on the 20th January 2024 and this song 🎵 🎶 will still be played for many centuries into the future 🎵
Yep those were innocent times. Then the 60's came along and the social middle class family structure was attacked and on a decline to where it is at now. Total destruction. Thank the Social Media for that.
First time I've heard this song in English...my mother bought a record recorded in Havana, Cuba, about the same time as this...Combo Cubano...sung in Spanish...in bolero tempo.

Venus is the god of love. Venus is your imagination. Remain faithful in your thought and imagination of your true love, one day very soon as the thought grows root, something magical will happen in your life. Do not doubt. Doubting is working to oppose venus' secret work. Faith and imagination is helping venus' work.

Classic song from my youth. Notice his white bucks and how the kids were dressed? And I would love to see what those young beauties he was singing to - look like today!
What the kids need now days is a good clean singer who could be a wonderful role model .Not like that awful Justin Bieber or that filthy Miley Cyrus;she disgusts me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter is 17 and prefers this type of music over all the modern crap on the radio. She told me she wishes she was born in the 40's instead of now. So glad about that. My son is 14 and feels the same way, however he wishes he was born in the 1100's. Weird
I am not familiar with Frankie Avalon I thought he was the man that played in the Giget movies but he's not. All I can remember is the name Darran not even sure if that's the correct name. I remember he had black hair and oh so handsome. I grew up in 70's and loved those Giget movies. Does anyone have a clue of who I'm talking about.

Can’t apply 2020 standards to 1958...and I don’t think he really meant a “little girl”. It’s just a phrase like back in the late 60’s when we used to say “my old lady “..that didn’t mean your wife was “old”.

It's because music like this has this sense of elegance or magic in it, unlike today's garbage

Frankie Avalon on American Bandstand....it just didn't get any better than that!!!!!
I love this song and the innocence of that era.
True, Joe!
The beauty of innocence, lost in time.
