Hinkley, California's successful lawsuit against the corporation who contaminated their drinking water was made famous by the 2000 film 'Erin Brockovich'. But what happened after the cameras left town? The short documentary 'Based On A True Story' returns to Hinkley twenty years after the landmark case and finds that its residents didn't receive a Hollywood ending.
