MB should definitely react to some of the Wilburys' songs. Handle With Care and The End of the Line are two of the best, but almost everything on their albums is good. Hardly surprising given the collected talent 😄😄.
The high viewer count is because he was LOVED! He has a HUGE fan base. When he died, the reaction was of shock and sadness it was so sudden. I cried, as did many. He's so missed. He was part of The Traveling Wilbury's, a group of LEGENDS.
Tom Petty is an American Icon. He wrote songs about his life, real stuff, not stuff just to be catchy and make money. People loved him and his death was painful for the whole nation. He grew up in Gainesville Florida and moved to Calif to "make it" in the music bus. At his death, the Univ of Fla in Gainesville started a tradition where at every football game, the whole stadium stands up and sings his song "I won't back down" together. It is amazing. You should check out more of his music, this is just one of dozens of HUGE hits for him.
Dude! I love your reactions! This song can be understood as that of a young person who has left behind what's good in his life for an unmoored existence, possibly with drugs & booze. Free falling-- he's falling, not actually free.
Petty one of the best songwriters--"Listen to Her Heart", "I Won't Back Down", "The Waiting", "American Girl", "Walls", "Southern Accents", "Don't Come Around here no more" (and many more that will be listed by others),--he is born and raised in Gainesville, Florida with his band, but moved to LA and wrote a lot about that area/culture. Really good and smart sense of humor, too. Was big from the late 70s until his untimely death a few years ago. Worth the time.
Tom Petty - You Got Lucky - Don't Do Me Like That - Don't Come Around Here No More - American Girl - Jammin Me - (Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty - Stop Dragging My Heart Around)

Since I’m a huge Stevie Nicks fan I love her collaboration with Tom Petty on Stop Dragging My Heart Around! They were really good friends! RIP Tom! Gone way too soon!
I just have to throw my 2 cents in for Don't Come Around Here No More. Tom has a long list of bangers (most of which are listed above or below) but that one is a lot of fun and often gets overlooked. Also, be sure to catch Tom post Heartbreakers with the supergroup Traveling Wilburys. Their most notable hit was End of the Line.
I saw tom petty on his 1st tour, in a room in our student union, and there was about 50 ppl there. Hung out with him for a long while and had some beers with him. Nice guy.
His last concert in his hometown before he died was amazing!!! He played a different guitar for every song!! You should really check out that video!! RIP Tom

Tom Petty's music is perfect for listening to on those kinds of days where its nice outside, you're relaxing with a beverage of choice and a snack and just enjoying a calm day.
Ha. That reminded me of the interview in Zoolander. "Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that."
No. Sorry, we Floridians claim him. In fact we just had a festival in his honor last weekend in Gainesville. You can't listen to any radio station around here without hearing him constantly.

This is my 23rd or 24th reaction by you I've watched tonight, and I still have another hour or so. I've commented on every video I've watched and totally enjoyed each one. So, for this video I have a story for you ... Back in 1979 I lived in an Orlando, FL, suburb in an apt complex and a couple of Orlando WDIZ Rock station DJs lived in an apt across from mine. I was 13 and my friend and I, who was the same age, had the unique job of spending our Saturday afternoons at their apt listening to new albums sent to them to play. Back then the DJs picked the songs from the new albums to play, so they had us teen girls listen to them and give our opinions of the songs. We listened to them totally blind so our reactions were genuine. One Saturday we were asked to listen to Damn The Torpedoes by Tom Petty, though we didn't know anything about it at all. And there were always lots if people hanging out, listening to music, drinking, smoking weed, etc... My friend and I listened to both sides of the album twice. Then it was time to give our options. But instead of fhe DJ asking, this time it was the really quiet guy in the Lazy Boy. He leaned toward me to pass me a joint and asked us what we thought ... We told him and he introduced himself as Tom, Tom Petty, and it was his album we just critiqued. 😊 I had NO idea who he was or how huge of a star he would be... That day he was just the cool guy who sang Even The Losers, one of my all-time fav songs to this day! Ahhh, to be young again... In the 1970s... Much Love! ❤
I keep my Sirius channel on 3I. The Tom Petty station. He was a musical genius with every day feelings and out of those feelings , wrote some of the greatest songs. They are iconic. I hear their music everywhere even though Tom has passed on. He tells stories we all relate to. What a brilliant musician. Also, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was the best cover band ever!!!!
This is such an ode to the San Fernando Valley, I love it. When the Damn the Torpedos LP came out, I was working at a record store right near where this (later song) was filmed. We had a huge street banner in our store for Tom Petty Day that the city had put on. Just name checking places like Reseda and Ventura Blvd and the freeway in your backyard. The goth kids, the lowriders, the skaters... ❤️ lots of fond memories right here. ❤️
