TEN surprises I found along Japan's rural "Mizuma Railway" line

  • I rode on the little-known Mizuma Railway, a rural train line in southern Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The short (5.5-kilometer) line goes to ten stations between Kaizuka and Mizuma-Kannon stations. I went to every single station and walked around to see what there was to see and do in the area. I was very surprised by what I found - who knew that an obscure little train line could offer such a range of things, from ancient castle ruins to views of Saturn in an observatory!

    As usual, not the tiniest amount of litter to be seen anywhere. What a lovely and respectful society!
    Quite unlike Oakland California!

      I would love to visit Japan. It’s probably, in most respects, the most safe and decent civilization.

      Ha, I was so focused on what I was doing that I hadn't even thought about seeing the same drivers over and over. They must have been raising an eyebrow when they kept seeing me. But I do think they are used to train nerd-types doing stuff like that (maybe?)

    Interesting clip, I bet it’s pretty ridged. England and Probably Europe it’s pretty tough getting a drivers license.The Dutch was the only country Japan would do business with in the early days.

    I am so happy I found your small town Japan explorations and train trips, Jeremy. This is kind of a dream of mine, to be able to do exactly what you are doing...my Japanese wife (from Nishinomiya) thinks I am crazy....LOL. I love random trips to off the beaten tracks.

    Yes, wandering is truly for the soul. I tell my wife my wanderings are called ramblings. Another great video T1D.

    Excellent Jeremy. Glad I found your channel. So clean there. Am impressed. Been to Tokyo on the way home from Hong Kong. But was at Tokyo Airport only one hour,before flying back to Seattle.

    Interesting to see Japan from a different angle. I don't know if I would have courage to go those little alleys that looks someone's backyards. Did you have to pay a ticket every time you entered in the train? In Finland🇫🇮 we usually have that type of local ticket, that is valid for one hour and in that time you can hop on and off so many times you want.

      I wasn't sure at first - some trains here (I think the Osaka subway maybe?) are like that, where you can connect rides that happen soon afterwards. On the Mizuma Railway though, I did have to pay separately for each ride 😅

      I was on another train platform a couple days ago, and again saw the HOT badge on a machine. But this time I knew what it was. Slowly learning basic English over here!

    May i recommend getting some nd filters for your pocket 2? They work really well on super bright days to stop the sky getting completely washed out.

    • @T1DWanderer
      @T1DWanderer  6 місяців тому +2

      I totally agree and am planning on that. Was talking with my friend just recently about it, in fact. I hate it when editing and the big blue sky is just white :/
      Give me a chance to get them, and to spend a couple videos learning how to use them properly 😅 and you should see an improvement

      I bought the official dji ones and I really only found the darkest one useful. I have some from neweer for my drone though, and they're just as good.

    Can you see that the Japanese characters for 200m and 300m are one and the same? How curious. Could you please explain?

    • @T1DWanderer
      @T1DWanderer  5 місяців тому

      That kanji 約 ("yaku") means "about", so it's about 200 meters away. (In Japan, the western numerals and the English letter 'm' for meters are commonly used for distances)

    I know one thing I would never live in Japan I don't like not knowing where I need to go

    • @ibnewton8951
      @ibnewton8951 5 місяців тому

      That would be the same for you in any country where you did not know the language. Have you made the effort to learn another language?

      I learned about the layout of Osaka by riding my bicycle around at random for an hour, then having to find my way back home (with no phone help). Not knowing where to go can be fun :)
