I took from this castle, and it took from me ❤︎ | Wakayama Castle

- I went to Wakayama, Japan and wandered around Wakayama Castle (c. 1580s) and its associated park. The area is full of gorgeous little paths under the trees and beside ponds, where koi fish and ducks swim around and quaint wooden bridges span reconstructed stone moats full of green water. And of course you can go into the castle itself, as well. I paid the entrance fee and stepped inside. There I saw the surprising and fascinating little museum, featuring 16th century (and later) armor, weapons, personal carriages, written letters, and other implements of Japanese society at the time. And the views from the top of Wakayama Castle were truly arresting - after seeing nothing but trees and buildings down below, suddenly you're looking all the way across Wakayama Bay to Awaji Island!
Oh, and the castle gave me one hundred yen, then took it away. How zen.

Another great video. Thank you and keep them coming!
Good video and travelogue. I would love to see the castle since Shogun by Clavel is one of my all time favorite movies and books. I admire the Japanese very much and would like to visit someday. I particularly enjoyed your trip by train in the western USA. I hope you will keep up the good work.
Thanks! Lots of great stuff like this in Japan for the interested
I cannot tell you how much I enjoy these videos! Your work is so important IMO. You are truly Documenting the changes in a society. China will be in this same situation in about 20 years. Your channel should have about 100x the subscribers and views, bit maybe the community feel wouldnt be so special. I respect you so much Man!!
Thank you very much! Glad you're watching
