- There are three (3) main protocols for reviving an overgrown Bio-Orb or PyroDino micro-aquarium. In this segment, we review how to address mature PyroDino containers overgrown with PyroDinos. There are three main protocols in this video:
1) Simple pour-off and feed (add DinoNutrients). 0 - 6:00
2) Pour off with the removal of bottom debris. 6:10 - 11:30
3) Pour off with a cleaning step (cleaning protocol) to wash out the micro-aquarium. 11:40 - 21:00
Each of these protocols will be presented with comments, examples and best practices. In addition, you will learn more about the intricacies of PyroDino care and maintenance.

Yes, absolutely
How do they become overpopulated with so much extra liquid? And how do you know how much food to give it? And does it depend on how many there are?
PyroDinos will continue to divide and grow as long they receive daily light. After several months the initial 30,000 cells can turn into 100,000 cells. This is when the orb will become overpopulated. The density of PyroDinos should be kept around 200 to to 400 cells/ml. Got a bioluminescent bio orb large for my birthday yesterday. It has been unpacked but put into a box for a week maybe two before. Two days in and it still wont glow. Im in central europe time. Is this normal or dis something happen?
PyroDinos require daily light and can not be in the dark box for more than 5 or 6 consecutive days.
Mine seems to be dying. There’s still a couple in there. I put it underneath a grow light and they did not like that whatsoever. Saw something about UV light damaging them. Do they need to be outside of the light? I need fundamental instructions because I’m clearly not doing something right. Do they like direct sunlight?
No direct sunlight and some grow lights are too intense. Try moving the culture away from the light source until you see better results (usually takes several days). Here is some good info on lighting:
For optimal results use a light timer with a LED light or LED light strips. Bright white LED lights work best and colored LED ‘grow lights’ can also be used. Other types of white lighting can be used as well (incandescent and fluorescent) as long as they do not add heat to the culture.
Optimal Lighting Range
LUX: 1000 - 3000
Foot Candle (Fc): 90 - 280
PAR: 90 - 120 EU
example: single 800 lumen light (5000K) with reflector: 40cm - 80cm away
example: single 800 lumen light (5000K) w/o reflector: 15cm - 30cm away
Consistent daily lighting is best and will yield best results. A timer for 12 hours on (day cycle) and 12 hours off (night cycle) is a good starting point for a robust culture. You may experiment with longer day cycles (up to 20 hours) but never less than 8 hours of light per day. You may flip their schedule by subjecting the Grow Flask to light during nighttime hours and darkness during daytime hours. A change in the day/night schedule usually takes a couple of days but can take up to a week.
Flask cultures will also fair well with typical indirect sunlight. A location where you would place a houseplant (like an orchid or tropical plant) should be sufficient.
Any way we can make our own salt solution to add more volume?
Like 1 tbsp per 1L?
Not any salt will do. You can make your own sea salt solution using artificial sea salts from an aquarium store. Or by using our artificial sea salts: pyrofarms.com/products/sea-salt-formulation-for-making-artificial-seawater

I have seen this on the beach often but I'm here because my pee glows so bright that I can see in the bathroom in complete darkness. Any ideas?

No. This can not live in a freshwater aquarium.
How long do they live for

How often should we clean?
You should only clean when needed. When you see excess debris in the water. This is usually after several months.
Why don't you sterilize the recipes during the transfers? Can Dinos still grow up after those risks of biological contamination?
