Hey guys, just went past 5000 subscribers so pretty excited about that. Thanks to all of you for watching and subscribing!! We're having fun bringing these videos to you and it seems Your enjoying them too. Cheers guys, and girls👍👍
Doing well. Did you ever muck around with Valiant's back in Ao-tea-roa? You would have loved the Chargers of course....everyone in ENZED Loves Chargers....and Leo Leonard. You know there is a few Chargers in the US, along with some utes, Ford Coupes, Torana hatchbacks and others.
@Zagar Evans I really didn't much. I had an AP5 when I was a teenager. The Aussie stuff was just starting to get popular when I left NZ, I can't believe how much the prices have skyrocketed!!! I'd heard there are a few Aussie muscle cars here, haven't seen any myself though. I'd love to bring one over and restore/hot rod it!
The B & E body Hemi cars had an extra plate welded on both sides of where your front spring eye attaches to the body. It had the same foot print as the front spring bracket, not particularly heavy gauge, 4 matching holes and a big hole in the centre. They anticipated the punishment the cars were going to get, we made sure it didn’t go to waste.
That pneumatic hole punch tool is slick. I've been on the mechanic end for many years, long time since I've been on the fabricating end, never seen anything like that. She's beautiful
I have one of these but haven't used it yet. I imagine the flange function is the part that really helps a fella out too. The last time I needed to create s flange joint, I used the old-school modified vise-grip tool. A pneumatic version would have saved time and done a better job, not to mention the hand cramping.
And whoever came up with the idea of plug welding was a stone cold genius. With spot welders being beyond the reach of most people, you can do basically the same thing with any kind of welder.
Good structural engineering. Should be a bit more torque resistant than stock. One minor thing... If I'm fillet welding the ends of a square or round tubing, or enclosure, I would drill a couple small drain holes on the bottom. I've noticed manufacturers do something like this often. Well done!! 👍
Great boxing reinforcement! I think that will make a lot more strength than you think! I have a notchback that I redid years ago, love these light cars. Mine has a 360 smallblock and its pretty nasty, I can't imagine having a stroked 440 in there! :) Godspeed Brother!
I sprang for the Eastwood 24" brake 2 years ago before all of the prices skyrocketed. I actually used it when wrapping my house window frames (circa 1910 and thereafter) before I installed the replacement siding. The adjustable fingers were priceless to have for the bends I was making! Once my "barn" is built and I have my 4 car automobile garage/workshop, it'll get permanently mounted and used a lot, I'm sure.
I come home from the shop to some quality time watching you straighten out the Mustang: can I bother you to come visit and straighten out our back-alley dumpster some idiot just crashed into and bent? TYVM!
Those Vice Grips took me back to when I was teaching myself to MIG weld. Back then, I always managed to tack them to whatever I was making my "chicken scratch" welds on that day! Luckily, I haven't done that in years but thanks for the memories and the chuckle that goes along with them!
As always great work man, the Cuda is going to be one solid rig .I'm looking forward to the first test when each and every one of the horses is going to reach the road
My previous comment was not clear. What I mean I cannot tell the order of your videos. I saw you you form the ps rear torque box for the barracuda but could not find where you welded it.
I'll hit it with cavity wax once the welding is finished. Trouble with pre painting it is all you can really use is a weld through primer and that won't stand up to any water. I treat the area with Rust Off then follow up with cavity wax
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 im doing my floor in my 67 VC valiant wagon abody it, all looks so familiar im literally doing the left rear corner as we speek , the last one thank goodness... pans all made by hand using manual bead roller and hammers... what a mission!!!
Great job on the do it yourself structure strengthening pieces. Would of liked to see a few plug welds to the rectangle tubing under piece though to tie the 2 pieces together. Probably not needed but just the way my over engineering brain thinks.
Why is there a beaver eating a yellow rope inside the car above where you were working? Seriously, what is that? With the camera angles and lighting, it didn't look like the original metal was stripped of all rust and prepped to prevent future rust. Was it? Also, can you explain (if even briefly) how you deal with the existing rust and what you do to prevent more rust in the future?
Lol. That's Kev the Kiwi. He's always hanging around! The metal was cleaned and then prepped with Rust Off. Once it's all done I'll spray in a liberal coating of Cavity wax. Take a look at my "Rustproofing 101" video
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 yea closing your eyes feels like it helps but the uv goes through the eyelids - however most even clear plastic glasses cut the uv so eh maybe you're fine :p

Congratulations on 5k subscribers! I'm glad Uncle Tony and Mopar Al sent me over here!
That's just some beautiful workmanship man. This is going to be a very properly done car.
Thanks man!

I have also always been on mechanical side but did buy the crimper ,hole punch about 20 years ago . Be surprised how handy it is .

Your workmanship and attention to detail is amazing. The quality that comes out of your shop is second to none!
Well thank you sir!
Top notch work Kiwi, love that torque box design, it looks original.... awesome job. 👍
Thanks man! It's original to me. If I'd seen it somewhere I'd give them credit.
Definitely have to make it strong with that monster engine!!! Should be quite the runner, keep up the good work!
Design a car front to back, build it from the rear forward.

Good idea!
That should make her nice and sturdy. I need to get one of those pneumatic punch/flangers. Great video.
When you've got one you'll be surprised how much you use them. Get one that punches 5/16" holes, the cheap ones are only 1/4".

Hay Kiwi. Great job. 👍🍻

The magician at work... Love it! Can't wait for more on that Cuda.
Yeah I'm getting into it now!
Excellent work, great to see a kiwi doing such common sense work and making it look so easy and taking the time to share his knowledge keep it up 👍
Thanks man!
Looks like Kev needs some welding goggles.
I was waiting to see a bit of smoke on Kevs beak.
No Kiwi's harmed in the making of this Video😁. Well... a couple of sparks got me but that's ok

Yeah I could have cut that bit out but what the hell, I got a little close. Gotta be able to laugh at yourself!
You do awesome work 👏

A rear spring inboard relocation kit is also a popular mod which allows a much bigger tire and wheel setup.
Yes I've seen that. I may do a 4 link/ coil over conversion though.....
You are a class A tin knocker !
Tin Knocker, haven't heard that one for while! I'll take it though, thanks!!
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 my uncle worked for boeing ! Tin knocker!!!is an honor

Nice clean install, that looks factory. Thanks for posting your progress on your project.

Much respect for your work and methods, seems like it would take mirical or a small army to have this car ready for no name .
Yeah that's not lost on me. She'll be very basic and not street legal

Nice. Looks great. I need to do that on my Rambler American.
Don’t burn the mascot! He’ll be a holy mascot!

That looks original awesome 🙂
Thanks! I try and keep my stuff looking like it might be factory.
Good old CAD (cardboard aided design)! The 'cuda is looking good Kiwi. Kia ora from NZ
Kia Ora cuz. Cardboard aided design, nice, I'm gonna use that 😁

That is a great idea.
Take care, Ed.

Solid 👍
Wish we were closer, I would send so much work your way it would make your head spin.
Thanks.
Excellent craftsmanship. Any consideration for rust encapsulation or paint in the area inside the torque boxes?
Yes. I use a weld thru primer and then liberal amounts of cavity wax when everything is burned in.
I just subscribed after you told Uncle Tony "if it looks like shit, it probably is shit..."🤣🤣
It's hard argue with the logic of that saying😁😎
great looking work
shouldn't inside that box be painted up for future rust protection?

@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 I see you know Chassis structural mods also. Very important with High Torque & Hp engines.
Should do the job!
Chris could you go into the Fab detail of the plate ? Looks mind bending to me
Ok can do. I try not to make it too long, dont want it to get boring

I see Kev is being his usual helpful self...or is he busy learning from the master? You be the judge 😉
Lol, yes well, I asked him to pass me the vise grips and he just stared blankly at me...... Kids these days!
hey bud , do you ever use chassis rail connectors?
Yes, often. They're next on the list

Nice Job👍. Whats the fur ball ?
Lol, that's Kev the Kiwi ! Our shop mascot 😄
Nice work Kiwi.
Hole to let the water out so it doesn’t rust?
Yes that's coming
can't wait to see it done and ripping up the pavement
Me too!!!
What about rails from front to back…. To connect
That's next on the list
Amazing metal work!! But I gotta know what’s that furry critter watching over ya???

He had holes punched in the plate for that.
Yes the complete perimeter is plug welded.
