Just imagine driving that kind of beast back in early 1980's..From the time when BMW built its cars with passion and emotion. What a machine 🔥

Firstly let me say that is a magnificent car; a huge huge enthusiast of the marque here (perhaps a bit obviously lol)...but I'm not "quite" sure it is accurate to say that the E12 M535i is the first Super Saloon. I suppose that may depend on the exact definition of Super Saloon. My reasoning is, and parochialism will play a part!! :) the 6.3 300SEL Mercedes in 1968 was a 'muscle saloon/Super Saloon' thus pre-dating the E12 by many years as well as certainly a number of U.S. and Australian muscle/Super Saloons from that timeframe. Indeed in Australia we had an XY GTHO Ford (Aust.) Falcon in 1970 that had a 0-62mph figure of mid-6 second range and a top speed of 143mph, as an example. Granted a much much cruder device and no way as sophisticated a design but perhaps a wider net needs to be cast before saying the 1980 M535i was the world's truly first. Anyway, wow...just w.o.w. that is a very clean example no doubt would be a blast to drive and it certainly smacks of design excellence and cohesion. A very very thorough design imho and a true parent of M division.

Those blue & red stripes, made the E21 even sportier for a 4 door saloon, I also remember the turbo syle 2002, being white with those red & white stripes, which makes them even rare to find, of course you can take a regular 2002, and make a similar model but the original is the best, just like the E21, you can make a similar car, but the original is the best nice looking car.

Interesting stat: Autocar magazine tested the e12 M535i, e28 M5 and e34 M5 3.6, all three did 50-70mph in 3.9 seconds in 3rd gear. That was the lowest gear all three could use. So for typical overtaking there was nothing in it!

Great video! Can I ask, on these E12's, were the Mahle's 14 or 15 inch rims? On a 195 profile tyre? Just interested as trying to find the originals for my car. Thanks!

Great quality, but consider buying a lavalier microphone
