This game will take over your life. Addictive to an extreme. Forces you to think, which is awesome. Don't play it with intentions of "just killing twenty minutes", because for every five minutes you play, four hours goes by in the outside world.
I have quite literally thought, on multiple occasions, "Okay it's probably been twenty minutes so that should be 10:30pm, maybe I should get try to bed" only to discover it's seriously 2am.

Broyher you are too right. Im at a phase in my life where i can hardly muster the time and will to play a videogame because you know... adulthood. And yet even if only a couple hours a week i cant wait to fire factorio up. It consumes you. In a good way ;)

You zoom in, build something, and when you zoom out, your first reaction will be: "How did I just do that?"
I once built a huge automation for piercing rounds and after I finished, I spent over and hour following and trying to comprehend everything I did to make sure I could fix or tweak it in the long run. Lol
Swagbro Gaming, Jees, how many rounds per minute were you making? My piercing rounds producer was pretty small, but I did only need a small amount
You just start building , using logic, at the starting of the game, you know , the basic setup , coal and iron mines
once your , pretty basic setup is done , you zoom out

And it is pretty much the same thing for everything you build, from thi basic iron setup to the nuclear energy , trains , and at some point , rocket
Sad Duck late reply, but I originally start with plans for it to produce a little bit for my guns and a couple turrets. By the time I was done 4 hours later, it could make like 5k an hour and not be at full capacity. That was when I realized my iron and copper production were garbage and set off to scale that up. This game is a never ending rabbit hole. I got out of it for a few months then decided to play it last night for an hour. Huge mistake. 5 hours in I realized I had to be up for work in 3 hours. XD

Simple Brian I have plenty of LAZORZ. I actually had a lazor turret factory. But until they introduce a lazor pistol I'm gunna be stuck usin' mah combat shotgun like a real 'Murican.

Where did this come from?!? The trailer gets insanely epic near the end. I didn't expect such a grand scale of everything. This is like Anno, SimCity, C&C and Minecraft came together and created a beautifully complex endless game scenario.

+BlackAera A really dedicated and determined team of developers have crafted this over a couple of years. They know really well what development is, they balance between releasing features and making optimizations. And they're super smart, whatever you throw at them they can make it. And the grand scale is absolutely there, go try the game!!

Man, this game really gave me Industrial craft feels. Except it's a game designed just for that.

- To finish the game you need to get the hell out of there

You have to build the factory in order to escape
they were going to add a second stage to the game (in spess) which you have to use the rockets for, then I assume use space technology to do space things in space.
Used to be that the same thing was a "rocket defense system" which allowed some blah blah magic ships from nowhere to pick this one guy on some random planet in the middle of nowhere up because why not.

That's how I play.
So...land on an alien world, ravage the landscape for building materials, kill the locals that protest and after you have subjugated the entire planet, go home. Sounds rad.

it is not story-driven, but there is a multiplayer mode.
In 4 years you've probably discovered that already but there are no settlers - you are the settler

+NicGaming I was super proud when they used my screen-shots in some of the earlier builds on their website. =D
I was pushing for some serious performance optimisation which they provided.
I was one of the few people pushing thousands of drones out at that stage of development to find performance problems that they cause.=P
I really like the look of this. I've been wishing someone would make a similar RTS game that involves complex military and resource logistics on a massive scale. Imagine that rocket at the end being a mech construction factory and you're churning out these colossal machines to send to war against another player after having developed your base for tens of hours. Kind of like a larger and more complex version of supreme commander; land, sea and air... Ahh, one day.

I've been thinking the same thing as I play the game (Dangerously addicting) and was about to comment about how that would be a great direction for Supreme Commander to go and then you mentioned it yourself haha. That'd be pretty awesome. I think the best chances of something like that happening would be if the teams behind Civilization and Supreme Commander got together. Either that or the original Cavedog Entertainment crew needs to get back together(Even though they're already largely behind the Supreme Commander series as Gas Powered Games) and produce another incredible game!
7 years later, Industrial Annihilation was announced so it sounds like you got your wish! Lets see how it turns out

Needs a "Stay off the tracks" PSA bit though. Stay off them tracks kids, or the train monster will get you.
Factorio is a game about automation. You start off small, and alone in this alien world with a few resources to your name. You must start building a mining outpost, then smelting, then power and then more assembly. This keeps on going, adding more links to the process to include things like batteries, laser turrets, trains, construction and logistical robots and more.
I have played this for literally hundreds of hours before the steam release, and would recommend this to anyone who loves to think their way through problems. The devs are amazing, and have kept up with a dev blog release every Friday for the past 2 years or so.
It is amazing. I love it.
This game is such a masterpiece. It forced me to use maths in real life(lol) and taught many things but one thing that this game forced me to believe is
IRON > COPPER :)

+UndeadRyker Yeah it is pretty complicated, but ridiculously fun. :D There are a ton of video tutorials for it, including quite a few I have done.

It took me several tries (and countless hours) to get my head around a certain stage in the game where it gets really complicated all of a sudden. But damn was it rewarding when I finally made that step beyond that point =).
10/10, would spent 600+h with this game again. And I'm quite sure I will.

This is fantastic! This trailer is of a quality seldom seen from big name, multi-billion dollar studios, much less a team of 10 or so indie developers. Congratulations on a successful steam release and an absolute job well done!
Can I just say thank you for supplying a demo to this awesome game? A lot of games nowadays don't give you demos anymore, and it turns me off buying them. You just earned a purchase from me after I tried the demo.

So why not build a new one? He can make the entire empire and has access to to exploit all resources on the planet, he even designed a rocket to launch to colonize other planets but yet he can't build himself a new spaceship and get back home, logic? Video games.

I reaaaaallly wish they would add some kind of eco and bio tech to the game. You could for example research a tech to produce Alien Artefacts yourself so you dont have to destroy bases, and you could manage pollution to prevent bases from spawning and growing in the first place. You could plant trees to reduce pollution, utilize all that wood that you have sitting in chests to make bio materials that can be used say to make fill to fill in lakes. I know a lot of this is available in mods already, but it really should be added to vanilla.

I thought the point of the game was to kill the planet.
The ecology mod as I imagine it would technically allow to to kill the planet both faster and to a greater extent :P You could convert trees, dirt, and biter corpses into bio fuel so you dont need as much crude oil. You could modify the ground, the water, and even the genetics of the biters and the trees :P
it ought to be. there are >1000 games that either work with the planet or try to save the planet. factorio would be the 1st where the aim is to poison the planet, although a better aim would be to turn it into a robot planet, like out the 1980s transformer film.

I have played 400 hours of vanilla and are still playing, there are SO MANY MODS tho that even if you get board with it, there will still be so much more to do.

It's 2d, the sprites thou are scanned version of 3d models in high res, so the biters and the player look gorgeous as fuck in a 2d sprite

Actualythe aliens look like an evolved,intelegent race of xeno's.They even comunicate thro mind and voice command's.The hatcheries maybe living beings beacuse they look to have body organs and yes,they migrate.

+enzo alcuino whats great about factorio is you actually need to make these machines to succeed. In minecraft, there isn't really any reason to build redstone machines, because in the end you still need to go down and mine everything yourself. Sure, you can build a mine cart machine to automatically send resources to the surface, but that's about it as far as actually useful machines go.

Why did you guys change the lore, What happened to the whole "Colonial directorate demand we colonize this planet!" now it looks like we're crashed on this planet by accident.
I personally feel it makes it more plausible you're alone. Because if you were sent by a directorate, there surely would be more engineers to help you

Really really good game. The only bad thing - it REALLY is a time killer. If u Play this game, u forget to eat, to trink, ur friends, ur girlfriend, ur family, ur job, ur real life. Slept 8 hours the past 3 days x)
