    I’m a smart guy.. a math major.. a carpenter.. a disgruntled IT support person.. but SketchUp eluded me. Just a couple of your videos here have dispatched the frustration and confusion I was encountering and I’m back learning SketchUp and it’s WORKING. I cannot thank you enough. Truly the best advice to ANYONE who wants to use this software is… get on board FIRST with your seven tips videos. My forever self says… thank you!!!

    I have been using sketchup for personal use for years on and off.It is hands down the most intuitive architectural program ever developed.I highly recommend these tutorials to learn how to draw construction documents the right way ,to save yourself unnecessary grief when you advance with SketchUp later on. Thank you so much for the introduction to SketchUp tools and techniques! I especially enjoyed learning about the group option - it’s amazing how much that will simplify things for me. Architecture has always been a dream of mine, and while I don’t have a formal degree, I have a real passion for design and have been creating things for fun for years. Your guidance has inspired me to take this passion seriously, and I’m even considering starting a business selling design charts someday. Thanks again for your time and support - it truly means a lot!

    Alex is the best facilitator, and presents the most clear, well-organized tutorials and workshops. These videos as well as those at SketchUp School are "fat free." In other words, the instructions are simple, and to-the-point with no extra baloney. You will be taught the correct way to do things, not just a person sharing what they've taught themselves. I recommend these videos for all of my interior design college students, whether they just need a refresher or if they are learning SketchUp for the first time.

      SketchUp School Yes I was right on the edge of giving up with it and did one last search on UA-cam... that’s when I found this video series which changed everything! I’m just a personal user looking at doing some home improvements and have (as a result of watching a few of these videos) been able to visualize it in full 3D. SketchUp is amazingly powerful. I’ve been using, designing and working in web/application/software for nearly 3 decades so thought I could just waltz into SketchUp like a pro... I failed spectacularly. Thank you for this channel and these videos. The presenter is great and the content scaffolding is right on point. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    Thanks so much for this informative video! I spent two years in college as an architecture major back around 1990 & drew all my plans by hand! These days I own a construction company & during these times I’m finally taking on a lot of home projects. I would love to utilize this program for some home renovations such as redecorating & purchasing new furniture. I think this would come in very handy for me to draw up my floor plan to play around with some different ideas in 2D as a start but also in 3D. And I think the use of this program along with my iPad Pro would be great to take with me on the go!

    Just getting started with Sketch up and the videos are quite helpful and give great tips. The one part that is not very clear so far is grouping items and creating layers. I have watched the previous video titled "Watch this Before You Get Started" where it introduced this concept very briefly and then in this current video there are several reminders to group and create layers. At this point, I don't see how to create a layer, how to make it part of a group or how to edit that if I need to at a later time. Would love to see more on that concept since it appears to be a very helpful tip that is repeatedly mentioned in the tutorials.

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  4 роки тому +3

      In our UA-cam videos, we have enough time to give you an overview of the concepts to accomplish an overall task (like creating a Floor Plan). These are condensed summaries from our full video courses on our website - in those courses we have the ability to cover things more in-depth.
      As for Groups and Layers (note: Layers were renamed to Tags in SketchUp 2020, so if you are using SketchUp 2020, then you'll look for Tags):
      1) To create a Layer/Tag
      In SketchUp, go to your Layers/Tags dialog (on a Mac, the dialog is in top menu under Window... on a PC, the dialog should be open on the right of your screen in the Default tray). In the Layers/Tags dialog, click the plus to create a new Layer/Tag.
      2) Assing a Group to a Layer/Tag
      Right-click on a Group and select the option for Entity Info. In the Entity Info dialog, flip the Layer/Tag menu down and select the appropriate Layer/Tag
      Of course, if you're up for it, we cover this in much more detail in our Video Course Library. You can learn more and try it for free here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

    I purchased Sketchup-Pro a couple of years ago, (bought all updates) & had unexpected changes that required me to downsize. We sold our home in Wisconsin & moved to Ozark County in Missouri. Still getting settled. Convinced daughter to move here & build a "tiny home" on our land. Now I have a real project to use my program on. We have already excavated a site for 20'X44' slab, installed under slab electric & plumbing & are ready as soon as cooler weather, to pour concrete. We did manual floor plans, but now I want to learn how to use my "power tool" drawing program.
