Started by saying "this video isn't for beginners", then went ahead and explained the use of the line and rectangle tools....................................
OK I’ve tried to follow your instructions perfectly. You say the group everything and you say the name the group I can’t figure out how to name the group I see that fox shows up on your screen to name the group but on my brand new version of sketch up it doesn’t.

it is 30 secs in and I am a beginner and only-this is exactly what I need. (yes I will listen to the before-you-start) because everything else what 3d. (I want to fit my furniture SIZES in a room.)
I watch your startup video a couple years ago. This week, after throwing the software out of frustration into ether, (to no fault of your video) I finished my first model. Now onto my next overly complicated theme 🤣
I am trying to learn how to draw a line by using the drawing tool and typing in 25'. I click and let go, type in 25' and hit enter and the line is only as long as I have drawn. What am I doing wrong? Its' got to be very simple. Please help, If I cant even draw a line, I stand no chance of drawing a house!!!!
I am having trouble with vray while rendering any animation. For the first 10-15 frames everything is fine frames are taking around 1 minute on average then I start to get a warning on the vray log window saying num samples per thread reduced to 327170, rendering light be slower then next frame reduced to 276348 then on and on until it reaches 32768 and at that point my renders are taking 10-20x as long each frame to complete then the first 10. This is happening when I render using rtx and cuda mode, doesn’t happen when using cpu. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks.
In SketchUp Free, typing measurements while using the Line tool works the same as it does in Pro. Please send a message to team@sketchupschool.com and an instructor will try to help you troubleshoot why your measurements box isn't working for you.
To vary lineweights, you'll want to take your SketchUp model into LayOut. It's the 2D documentation application that is bundled with SketchUp Pro and together with settings in SketchUp, you can set-up different line weights.

You can make it into a Component and name the Component. So right click and pick the option for Make Component.
It is exactly what I would like to learn, I like your method of teaching.

How can I have my exterior walls fill in black either in sketchUp or LayOut?
If you add a Section Cut in SketchUp, you can then go to your Styles dialog and under the Modeling tab you can set your Section Cut Fill to black.
@@SketchUpSchool Can you please link a video for this?

I'm practicing drawing lines in the free version, but I can't type in the measurements box. Should I upgrade to Pro?
