Dear Ginnie, We're glad to know how much you appreciate our music, and you do a "lovely rendition," indeed. We would just very much appreciate it if you'd learn to say the name "Appalachia" as we say it in Southern Appalachia where this song was collected by John Jacob Niles. If you're going to interpret our mountain music, please learn to say the region correctly. It's Ap-pa-LATCH'un. " Latch," as in, the third syllable rhymes with "hatch," "batch" and "match." It is incorrect, arrogant and insulting to claim to love our region or our music and not even know how to pronounce it correctly.
