      What's funny is Dr. Dray is going to recommend the same products as always. Her videos aren't for a specific gender, and most products aren't noticeable. I think only tinted sunscreen is recommended here, and men already use them. On youtube, outside of Dr. Dray the most successful skincare channels are by men, with many more up and comes.

    Usually I don't like reaction videos, but this one is an example of how to do it. Respectful, informative and without unnecessary and hurtful assumptions or the use of drama to get more views. And about the 'natural tan' thing: wish people would get more into "natural skin colour is best" instead of either wanting to make it lighter or darker. We need to accept and recognise that a healthy skin can come in all skin colours, no 'tan' is needed.

    Youngsters are so lucky these days because the correct information is finally out there about the damage UVA and UVB rays can cause. When I was a teenager the only concern was protection from sunburn, getting a "safe" tan thru use of sunscreen. Now we know that no tan is a safe tan, a tan is simply a reflection of permanent sun damage. 🌱

    • @laurieparis2203
      @laurieparis2203 3 роки тому +2

      @Jackson I think it's a little more complicated than that. Pre-industrial age, white skin was a sign that you didn't have to work for outside for a living, which most people had to do being an agrian society. So untanned skin became something desirable, a status symbol. But once everyone was inside working, getting a tan with something that only people who had leisure time could indulge in, and tans became desirable. Everyone went out there and tanned, tanning salons became a thing. Nowadays we know that 90% of skin aging is as a result of sun exposure, and skin cancers as a result of too much exposure to UV light. So many of us choose to protect our skin, from UV damage.
      The suntan lotion industry didn't disappear... it simply switched their marketing from lotions that would give you a deep dark tan, to lotions that will protect you from that! 😊

      But many of us prefer to get our vitamin d from pills, thus avoiding the downsides of sun exposure. It's not just the vanity issues of wrinkles, sunspots and sagging skin, it's also the reality of skin cancer, and cataracts.

      He is 30ish. Just an FYI. It took a renowned dermatologist to tell me how badly my skin was damaged in order for me to take action when I was 30 yrs old. I used to lay out in the sun for 6-8 hours & then go to a tanning bed. I’d also use these tricks to get a deeper tan. Dr. Dray is right, there’s no such thing as a healthy tan; I badly regret it although my topical skin now looks good thanks to Obagi skincare.
      Oh, and I agree; he’s quite handsome.😝 Most bodybuilders like to be tan because it shows their definition better. I hope he sees this video & rethinks the tan.

      He will definitely regret this when he is older. My aunt used to tan allllll the time and I don’t know if she still does but the last time I saw her she looked like she was in her sixties as far as her skin quality and sagging goes. and yesss.... Leathery... And she was in her early to mid forties at the time. So sad. I’m almost thirty and have what I think is excessive sagging in my face because of bad sun hygiene in my early twenties. No tanning but I never wore sunscreen and I also put an olive oil on my skin alllll the time for like two or three years😭😂😂😭😭😍😍😍

      Honestly I think selfless tanners are so much more work. A real tan lasts a lot longer, doesn't transfer onto clothes and doesn't fade patchy the way selfless tanners do. Selfless tanners take a lot more effort. Planning, prepping, applying properly, and it transferring to clothes and sheets. And having to do it all over again a few days later. That being said, now being aware of the damage of real tanning, I just embrace my paler skin. I did self tanning for awhile but it was too much effort, so I don't bother anymore. So I get why people don't like selfless tanners.

    Not much wearing hat or sunglasses either, important too. Question: if any tan is unhealthy what's better: absolutely no tan at all but low mood, immune system from no natural vitamin d from sun or a tiny bit of tan and good mood, immune system with natural vitamin d, bit of sun? Or just best to take vitamin d from supplements? Why do people go on sun holidays to 'look healthy' if any tan at all is unhealthy?
