Nice video man, surspikes are a pain to get. There was a way to easily get them in MHW but in this game you actually have to break the back, or carve the tail but I don’t think it’s really worth trying to cut the tail. i didn’t feel like crafting a bowgun set so I decided to just craft the ore charge blade (impact phial) and use air dash/axe hopper and bombs. Air dash by itself actually works pretty darn well, i’m able to break the back pretty consistently.
The tail is okay to go for if you do either slicing LBG or Strongarm TCS parries on GS. The Sleeptoad will let you get one off for free and you can land another one while it's stunned for wyvern riding. Then probably one more while it's down from wallbangs and the tail should pop off. I struggled a lot less to get break/carve only parts in MHW. The vouchers were also a nice option to have.
@@snunpai Yeah I was gonna say if you play greatsword then cutting the tail is probably pretty easy but for other weapons probably not so much. and it’s only a 50% drop rate versus 70% from the tail. In MHW I found a video that showed how to get surspikes easily, it was a little cheesy but worked really well. Basically you capture a gold rathian, then go into the arena with a greatsword and mount her, then just hang on and extend the mount and she will bang her back against the wall and the back will break for you with no effort required. Then just return from quest and easily get them. Luckily I got a handful of surspikes now so I can craft what I wanted in Rise

Helpful for Magnamalo, Zinogre, and Nargacuga. They have break-only parts or parts with a higher chance to drop from breaking.
