Okay so thanks Tommy. I'm 66 now and taking lessons from you.....learning things I should have known years ago when I started playing in the 60's. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks huh? love ya man
Thanks for lesson. I used to play guitar by ear. It was very painful and calloused my ear lobe. Watching this video has taught me to use a thumb pick instead and Never! Ever! the ear. Thank you.
- What did you do during lockdown? - I stayed in and watched tommy Emmanuel vids of UA-cam. I used to live in limehouse but had never heard of limehouse blues. Learning things I never expected!
I'm Emmanuel,my first name. But I was shocked when I watched his video.Hes so amazing and really a guitar virtuoso.Hes the best acoustic guitar player ever! I wish I would be like him.God bless sir Tommy.🎸🎼🎶🎙🎧
GROOVY ... I've been fixin vehiclel at work and saying "someday" I'll do what I love to do, ... learn and play git... thanks 2 you and the team at tuefire ... been a long time since picking up and picking up a new tune to pick at. thanks again.
Tommy comes across as the type of guy I would love to have a pint with. Thanks for another great and generous lesson - you can have a pint on me anytime.
Wonderful player. Am lucky really i pick up your stuff well . Speaking to my friend we must go to see you live . I have seen Julian bream live Joe pass live my Favorites Hopefully you self! SUPERB . The Great Chet Atkins Wonderful .
Yea, it is not always as easy as that. When you go back in time, when blues mixed with ragtime and early jazz, you'll find many more variations than just the regular 3-chord-12-bar-progression starting with the one-chord.
TOMMY GIVE YOURSELF A LOT OF CREDIT YOU HAVE PASSED WAY PASSED CHET AND YOU ARE ALOT BETTER RECORDS ARE BEING BROKEN TOMMY YOU ARE THE BEST PEOPLE GET USE TO IT........
Don't diss tommy mate. He showed you everything you need to know. Why don't you start getting off your ass and using your ear and eyes and stop being a helpless bloke who needs his mother to spoon feed his dinner.
cast, this lesson assumes that you already have SOME basic skills.. If it were note-for-note, most mid-level to advanced thumbpickers wouldn't be able to watch it.. it would simply be way too slow.. My advice: Get your basics together and come back to it.. This is a lesson in nuance.
cast390 You're in the wrong room Bub, you should search for beginner to intermediate lessons. To all others, I apologize for this persons rude comment, there's always someone who'll shit in the apple pie.
Tommy, you're a fucking legend mate.
Great plan but he's too normal to be president these days

Took me a month to get Rising Sun down, now this...
Wow💖
sweet.
more more more....please..:)
Well done Tommy, you are the best out there at this. However, I wish i could stop the thumb pick from sliding around when i play - any ideas anyone?
Have a similar problem..I'm thinking some elastaplast (cloth band-aid) to either give it some grip or stick it in place.
“I’m making an executive decision and I’m not even president... how bout that!”
Haha
Ok how the heck is he getting that last chord??
It's in the key of C so it starts in F....why is that? I generally start the blues from the key note not the 4th

And think of rock 'n roll. Chuck Berry's tunes sometimes start with the 5-chord, right?
F is the fourth of C major so it'll sound good either way.
A walk??

Chet plays this in the key G so i naturally copied him i like the way Tommy plays it but i find it easier to finger pick in G
Why are you not the president? President of pickers would fit...
boyd clark amor etrrno
The best players in the world are also the worst teachers.

What more do you need? I watched this several times, practiced one week or two and now I can play the tune. In my case his teaching did a great job.
Or, the best showing good students, not the bad ones.
