    Thanks for lesson. I used to play guitar by ear. It was very painful and calloused my ear lobe. Watching this video has taught me to use a thumb pick instead and Never! Ever! the ear. Thank you.

    - What did you do during lockdown?
    - I stayed in and watched tommy Emmanuel vids of UA-cam.
    I used to live in limehouse but had never heard of limehouse blues. Learning things I never expected!

    Cool. I spent an hour or so, now I have a new tune in my repertoir. Thx Tommy. A breakdown of " Borsalino " or " A Man & A Woman " would be nice too.

    Well done Tommy, you are the best out there at this. However, I wish i could stop the thumb pick from sliding around when i play - any ideas anyone?

      Have a similar problem..I'm thinking some elastaplast (cloth band-aid) to either give it some grip or stick it in place.

    Ok how the heck is he getting that last chord??

  • @duluoz8198
    @duluoz8198 6 років тому

    It's in the key of C so it starts in F....why is that? I generally start the blues from the key note not the 4th

    • @Fitzliputzli23
      @Fitzliputzli23 6 років тому +2

      Yea, it is not always as easy as that. When you go back in time, when blues mixed with ragtime and early jazz, you'll find many more variations than just the regular 3-chord-12-bar-progression starting with the one-chord.

    • @Fitzliputzli23
      @Fitzliputzli23 6 років тому

      And think of rock 'n roll. Chuck Berry's tunes sometimes start with the 5-chord, right?

    • @codyswanson8481
      @codyswanson8481 4 роки тому +1

      F is the fourth of C major so it'll sound good either way.

      Don't diss tommy mate. He showed you everything you need to know. Why don't you start getting off your ass and using your ear and eyes and stop being a helpless bloke who needs his mother to spoon feed his dinner.

    • @Fitzliputzli23
      @Fitzliputzli23 6 років тому +1

      What more do you need? I watched this several times, practiced one week or two and now I can play the tune. In my case his teaching did a great job.

      cast, this lesson assumes that you already have SOME basic skills.. If it were note-for-note, most mid-level to advanced thumbpickers wouldn't be able to watch it.. it would simply be way too slow.. My advice: Get your basics together and come back to it.. This is a lesson in nuance.

      You're in the wrong room Bub, you should search for beginner to intermediate lessons.
      To all others, I apologize for this persons rude comment, there's always someone who'll shit in the apple pie.
