It's nice that they are working on that because the a7cii drains more battery compare to older a7c. In one day event the a7c only last on 1 battery while the a7cii can consume 2 batteries
Small but mighty good news! I really wish Sony will implement password security on the cameras. It does not need to activate it every time the camera is powered down but maybe by press & hold the shutter button for 5 seconds after the power switch is off so it can be a one hand operation.
Leica did the same... upgrading their BP-SCL4 with 1.860 mAh to the BP-SCL6 with 2.200 mAh. Sonys Batteries are reasonably priced with 70 Euro. You have to spend 170 Euro for the Leica BP-SCL6!
€70 is still expensive for a battery... You can get 3rd party batteries for €18,50 with 2600mAh. Only problem is Sony is annoying and made it so your camera recognises 3rd party batteries and gives you an annoying popup that you have to click away.
@@jeroenvdw 70 Euro is the price of most camera brands for a battery. The third party batteries are crap. People buy a camera for thousands of Euros and try to safe money by buying low quality batteries? I don't understand this.
@@dirkziegler9580 they're not low quality though, probably even made in the same factory as Sony but with another sticker on it. I never had one fail in 4 years
Solid state lithium is significantly more power dense and though it has had growing pains (literally) when trying to scale up it is well proven in small form factors. Why every camera manufacturer isn't offering this right now is anyone's guess. Heck, even Panasonic who develops some of the leading battery tech out there is content to do the same old thing.
Some one needs to make a new battery/grip for the older Sony bodies like original Sony A7s...a grip that fits into older battery space but uses the new larger batteries like the a7s111 etc. Cheers
I wonder if its the same battery technology that Sony recently put into their new Xperia phone (1 mark VI) which gives almost two days on a single charge because the battery is made of a much denser material.
I was more satisfiedwithbthe older smaller FW battery of early sony morrorless cameras. te larger FZ has made cameras larger and heavier.Of coursr reviewers were always complaining that battery autonomy of FW batteru was inferirior to the batteries of dSLR cameras. But dSLR could be used without evf or liveview from screen.
How about if Sony stops crapping on 3rd party batteries when they are detected in the camera body? After a recent firmware upgrade, my A7IV began issuing a warning every time I power it on with the same 3rd party batteries I’ve been using for the past couple of years. It will then stop displaying the percentage remaining after you clear the warning message. A bit annoying and petty for that to be implemented with no benefit to the end user.
This is why after the newest FX3 update you cannot use v mount batteries anymore. Sony is looking for new sources of revenue since the lens lineup is complete…
right..haha I recently tried those SmallRig(NPFZ100)-C batteries on my A7R5 bodies and its works really well..no errors..has battery percentage on the screen..etc..for the price point its a nice alternative than the OEM ones..
it's not a "free upgrade" if you have to pay for the new battery and it will be more expensive. a better deal would be if they were willing to offer discounts on the new batteries if you trade in your old sony battery
This is probably some of the best news for Sony users like myself.
It's nice that they are working on that because the a7cii drains more battery compare to older a7c. In one day event the a7c only last on 1 battery while the a7cii can consume 2 batteries
Its the same with a7iv. Drains much faster as compared to a7iii.
@RahulVanganicreations That’s exactly my experience as well. I think it makes sense a battery upgrade from Sony.
turn off pre-autofocus
Wow that's big news! Thank you Andrea!❤
I’ll order 4 of those right away!
How about 85 gm2?
Any news for 85gm n 24-70 f2 gm?
What is the update with the 85mm GM? Everything is quiet.

I am waiting only A1-II and lightweight GM500/4
Hey. same here. Would be good for my surfing channel videos!
This sounds reasonable if Sony starts putting proper lcd and evf on their cameras. Might be useful if the a7v should match the Nikon z6iii spec wise
Yeah the screens are lagging
There are a few hacks to save batteries while away on a shoot, just have to give up a few luxuries of the system and focus on the basics 😎
If sony will release a new battery, will they release a new charger also for this new batteries? Or you can you the old charger?

@andreapizzini Any news on Sony ZV-E10 Mark II expected for next month?

Any rumors about zve10 II release date?
when they gonna fix the focusing problem in A7S3? their 3.01 update did nothing

This is actually good news. There’s a big difference in battery life between the a7iii and 7iv.
Any rumors on next Lumix S5II series cameras firmware update?
Hopefully they just release the firmware without the hype campaign with influencers first. That was disgraceful.
How about the new RX100 M8 rumor on Sony alpha rumor website? Is it real? What do you think about it? I really hope that’ll be true 😮
Please Sony make a 200-600 mk2 and 500mm F4 :D
Perfect gift

It’s cool but using v mount is the way to go
thank god. they could also work on a v mount but i guess thats too futuristic to be in reach.
Sony 24-70 f2 when?!?!?!? LOL

Great news. Wildlife photography drains batteries for fun 😂
If I don't have airplane mode turned on, my A7RV kills the battery in like 50 minutes flat with a fully charged brand new battery. BRUTAL.

WOOOHOOO. Once Sony implemented 10bit video recording for video, my battery life has been about 70% of when I shot only 8 bit.
Nice news
Now give me a new a1ii (at a more realistic price) to go with it!
This is good but now instead of buying 60$ batteries we gonna have to buy 100$ batteries 🔋

BTW the furture A7 camera will be bigger i guess.....
