It's interesting how Epica can blend beauty with brutality and make 'em walk together. It feels like walking on a thorny path without feeling the pain. So to summarize, Epica is awesome. Epica just inherited the epic sound. Undoubtedly the best Symphonic Metal band.
I haven’t listened to this song in quite a long time. I just woke up randomly at 3 am and had it stuck in my head for some reason so I had to listen to it and I’m surprised I remembered so many of the words. I really need to listen to Epica more again, I miss listening to music with lyrics that make you contemplate life and other things
I don't know how it took me so long to hear these guys, I will regret it for the rest of my life. This guitar tone is amazing, the drums sounds great, can actually hear the bass in a metal song, and Simone is a natural in finding those verse rhythms and chorus rhythms that give chills. Also the transition to the chorus after the guitar solo gave me chills, which I haven't had from music in a while now sadly. These guys are in a league of their own to me. Nightwish with heavy ass riffs and more metal drum patterns, when I crash from head banging to this..I shall keep head banging.
+BridgeToNowhere1994 I agree with you, The Quantum Enigma is better than Requiem for the Indifferent. I actually didn't like this last one. However, Design your Universe is my favorite album.
True. For some reason, I didn't like the production on Requiem. The guitars sound way too harsh and unpleasant. I loved Delirium and StS, though. But The Quantum Enigma completely blew me away. The grandeur and majesty on EACH song is amazing. Truly 'epic'. I love every single song on that album, it's my favourite album by Epica.
You can definitely tell that Requiem for the Indifferent was their moment to experiment a bit with the production and songwriting, especially with the guitar tone and increased emphasis on riffing. It did not work for me, only a few songs on Requiem are ones I actually care to listen to, but I think without it, we wouldn't have gotten the confident sound that Quantum Enigma has. It's why Quantum Enigma is my #1 favorite album across all bands & genres.
Been a fan from then from the start when i saw em here locally playing for 100-200people and later Hof ter Lo and Graspop. Design your universe is my favored album followed by this one
I was surfing the internet for bands to get into during Summer of 2018. I clicked on Epica, cuz it sounded like a cool name and I saw a leading female, which caught my attention since I was listening to Evanescence. This was the first song I clicked on, and Holy Shit! I was blown away and am now an Epica fan!
Well... That album had pretty thrashy songs... If you removed all the Symphonic elements, what you'd get is basically Gothic Thrash Metal. So I can't say that The Quantum Enigma was merely a Symphonic Metal album, but a very thrashy album, as well.
Don’t listen to these guys just keep practicing your English. Instead it should have been written “they are not as famous as they should be because not everyone has an exotic taste in music”

Simone writes such beautiful and intelligent lyrics.
For sure! But I prefer Mark Jansen's lyrics. I like his style the best, his lyrics have inspired me so much in so many levels of my life!

Esta canción estaba atascada en mi cabeza pero no podía recordar su nombre. Me alegra haberla encontrado otra vez.

I listened to just two out of all tracks and I can tell this is way better than Requiem for the Indifferent. Its just on a whole another level.

They really improved since the 2000s.
The best song that Epica has ever put out! It is too original!

The power of symphonic metal in a band #Epica #Venezuela
They're from the Netherlands???

Wow that one used classical choir a lot. And it does fit nicely.
The intro sounds very Rhapsody influenced, definitely like something Luca Turilli would write.
Metal Maestro Yeah I got some Rhapsody of Fire vibes from this as well.
It's a great song!
