  • Taking care and maintaining the needles is crucial when it comes to airbrushing. Typically, the needles that come with airbrushes are not well polished, even though they can still be used for spraying. However, polishing them can greatly enhance their performance by eliminating tiny metal debris that may not be easily visible to the naked eye. It is recommended to use a battery-powered drill to assist in this task, but if you don't have one, don't worry. We will also demonstrate an alternative method in the video. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tutorial!

I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this method. I have seen several instances where people have bent the needle this way even at a low speed. Even a slight bend anywhere can ruin a needle. Especially cheap ones. Hand polishing is safer and just as effective.

Thank you for your response! Considering the potential risks associated with electric drills, opting for manual tools seems like a safer choice. I've highlighted your suggestion by pinning it at the top for others to consider. Your input is greatly appreci

I have many cheap airbrushes I have done this to, even to the point of honing the point on a stone (you need a very steady hand) and it works great. It's also easy to destroy your needle. If you bent your needle, don't try to straighten it. You can get close but your spray pattern will never be right. Also, you only need to polish the two inches toward the point. No other part of the needle is touching a seal or the paint.
Most importantly, do not do this to your expensive brushes. You can get a similar effect on your expensive brushes by wiping the needle down with a dry teflon lubricant after each use. But you expensive brushed have much finer tolerances and fewer plastic bushings.

I bought the NCT-T400 off of Amazon, and no matter what i do, no matter how much i thin my paint, i cannot get the thing to spray if i use the included compressor. I sent a message to the NEOECO store profile on Amazon, but never got a reply. The brush is fine for priming and even regular painting but the compressor has never been able to push paint. if i connect to a regular compressor (specifically a harbor freight one with a tank) it sprays fine. Please NEOECO i would really appreciate help with this

Why aren't the needles polished from the factory?

    • @NEOECO-Airbrush
      @NEOECO-Airbrush  9 місяців тому +3

      Hello,
Certainly, polishing the needles at the factory is a commendable idea. However, it's important to note that this process can be quite labor-intensive, even in a factory setting. Consequently, it would likely lead to a significant increase in the price of the product. Since needle polishing is not a particularly hard task, allowing users to perform this step themselves might be a more cost-effective approach.
In the near future, we are also considering the possibility of launching a high-end version of the product with pre-polished needles. Thank you for your understanding and support.
      Best regards,
      Neoeco Airbrush Team

@@NEOECO-AirbrushPolishing the needle isn't the only thing needed to improve the airbrush. You can polish the trigger plunger and air valve stem for smoother trigger action. Grease may also be used for smoother airbrush if you have suitable airbrush grease.
If you can make adjustments to airbrush design, making use of PTFE or nylon components in sliding surfaces can further improve the feel of the airbrush.
Many of these techniques can be applied to any airbrush. Even just adding a cheap plastic tube to a budget airbrush made a major improvement to the trigger feel of the airbrush. Though I'm not sure if this same modification can be done to the Neoeco NCT-SJ83 airbrush

I came here looking for top tips from a manufacturer who is I thought was the expert only to find the manufacturer asking for advise from those that came to learn, I think I will stick with my budget airbrush, I might even polish the needle 🤣 I will keeping sandpaper well away from it, I reserve that for my camera lenses.

It's dangerous using a drill, my friend found out the hard way. Using a drill even at a slow speed to turn the needle is totally unsafe. If the tip of the needle catches the cloth in anyway the needle will bend and begin whipping around and your hand is now in the way before you know it. Your are better off polishing it by hand always.

If your needle is at the point where you would stupidly shove it in a drill to polish it, then the needle is crap to start with. I would go out and buy a good airbrush and keep it clean.

Hi, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the unpolished needles. The decision to avoid polishing was made to keep costs down. However, we understand the importance of quality, and we're excited to inform you that we will soon be offering airbrushes equipped with polished needles. We believe this enhancement will better meet your expectations. Thank you for your understanding.
