Kurtis once showed how he welded a short section of pipe on the starting end of the bore weld to allow the weld to start outside the bore so that it could be trimmed off without having to hand weld that section. I do, however, suspect that you are already familiar with this.

I have commented on CEE numerous times about being absolutely fascinated with line boring. So much so, that I’ve even priced a couple of set ups. But, man oh man, that’s a leap of faith to make that kind of initial investment today for work you may or may not get tomorrow! I think one would have to have the right customer base, for sure. I find myself needing the ability to do line boring once or twice a year but I don’t think most of my customers would be willing to pay what one would have to charge for the service. Oh well, maybe one day. I applaud your willingness to make the investment.

I'd like to see a step by step for line boring setup I just started watching your jobs you recorded. I wish I could be there personally to watch setup and some jobs you do. I haven't weld repair heavy construction equipment about 25 years but alot has changed since I last repaired them. The cracked parts are the same process as well as replacing some parts like the bumpers supports and so on. It's a smart move on letting someone else do the bends on the brake so as to make the job easier. Also I just am starting back into my own welding bissness but California won't let me put my application in unless I have some one with a C60 welding license due to not welding in the past 10 years with someone with a c60 California license I've worked for my nephews construction cement company and my friends shop part time after I get off work at my Full time san diego city work in wastewater department. I appreciate your videos very much I'm refreshing my skills just by watching them. One more thing what would be good starting point for charging per hour on job for construction equipment repair or just field work. Thank you

Those button insets are really good for universal cutting and can hog out some material quick. And the really nice part is you can rotate them around on 6 different edges when they get dull and get tons of life out of them. Depending on the type of button inset you use and if doing straight cuts or radius cuts anyway.
And I'm not sure why they would have made the nozzles non removeable on those shorter cones since you can get stubby nozzles about that short. Tweeco makes some that short.

climax makes some of the best line boring equipment in the world. For doing smaller things like this job you could use almost any setup and get good results honestly. Where climax stuff shines is doing mission critical high load, high precision, large span etc… stuff like articulation bearings in huge wheel loaders like 992/wa900. Their equipment is expensive and complicated for a reason. The cheaper stuff just doesn’t cut it in those kind of applications where there’s hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line. Time almost isn’t a factor in that stuff cause if you fuck something up you REALLY fucked up.

Using a wide-cast wire avoids the coiling action that narrow-cast wires naturally want to do and it runs a lot smoother through the welder. That machine lays down some good looking beads. Hey man i noticed your chop saw and the blade...are thise blades better than the disc type or whatever as far as cutting metal faster as well as easier and making it easier on the motor do you think? Just asking cuz i don't want to spend $100 compared to $9 for.the disc but, im assuming they must be phenomenal for that much of a price difference.... Fuck u know how high the gas is right? Let me tell y'all a little secret a trick if i may..... get going a good speed and drop ur transmission into neutral, hold on cuz some vehicles tend to get harder to steer so.....anyways, then cut off the engine and coast as far as possible u all will be very surprised how far u can get with a tank of gas driving like this.... i got $10 in gas and i was out of gas....i drove from Ethiopia to Mexico twice...now there's no red lights or stop signs on that back woods drive many aren't familiar with but im fuckng telling u it WILL save money and if we all start fucking these mfkrs back like that they'll wise up and get passed this pussy stage generations they been creating since 1980...

The carbide blades are way better. They cut very clean and the metal really doesn’t get hot. But you need a saw with a slower speed. Do not use them on a regular chop saw.

Yeah i got a slower metal one....i think that's what u saying, ima have to make sure or just play with the switch. I got an old black and decker but it's a really good saw.

I agree a fellow would need a lot of education to run that thing. A question that I have is how did they do this sort of thing 60 years ago.

That line bore system is overly complicated... I don't know what brand CEE uses but I like it better...

They use a sir meccanica ws2. It’s much bigger than the climax unit and harder to get into tight spots. Climax is complicated for a reason. Each has its own good and bad.
