I finally drove by 2300 Jackson Street today...I'd always wanted to see that house. Just like everyone was saying--it's amazing he came from THAT and ended up as the most famous person in the world.
Wow, it's always great to hear from neighborhood people who grew up with Michael and his family. Everyone stated he was a nice guy. I didn't know Michael but I met him twice while working security at the hotel in Memphis he always stayed. It was in 94 & 95 when he was married to Lisa Marie. Michael was extremely nice and approachable. Janet and Mr.Bray (his longtime security chief) was also there. A great experience....
ahhh that little girl with the beads at the end, so cute and the song - "Gone Too Soon" Great video. MJ the greatest entertainer and a great humanitarian, From the womb to 90, people adore the beautiful person that was Michael Jackson.
he was unlike any other performer.celebrated by billions all over the planet.he was`nt a crazy person a far cry from the tabloids and the scandals.he was still a young boy at 50.never had a beard on his face .love michael .RIP from pakistan
Thank You So Much for the Kind Words. Michael lives on through all of us that enjoyed his songs and music which are now his legacy....but more important ... his spirit.
I am forever great full to MJ for his music. You can say what ever you want but the man left this world a better place than when he entered. It is because of MJ that I when to college for music and to me he is the greatest. Thank you for the video that you posted and it is a blessing that people loved him for what he was. A imperfect man that has touched the heart of so many people. Rest in Piece Mike we love you and miss you. Like the song said "Gone Too Soon"
I thank you very much for you beautiful comments. I really just got out of my vehicle with the cameraman and just started talking to everyone around me. I let the moment shape itself.
I have no idea how I've missed this video up until now. Thank you for capturing that moment before the merchandise vendors arrived, while people spoke of the HUMAN BEINGS whose hardship, hard work and sacrifice within those walls began the legendary journey. If only as much attention were given to that as to their imperfections (which exist in all human beings and families, but most with the luxury of not having them embellished and plastered at newsstands and websites all over the world for consumption by those who feel the need to denigrate others to enhance their own perceived self-worth).
im from the area and from what i know, family members own the house but nobody lives in it. soon, they're going to turn it into a national landmark. rip mj
thanks! but i had little to do with this but drive down there and ask the people the questions....i'm amazed everyday by the good will of people....its unfortunate that we can't just make the good things the news!
Una prueba más de la grandeza de este país de las oportunidades, donde sí existe el sueño americano. Los Jackson 5 sobresalieron por su talento, sin influencias externas, y Michael llegó a ser el más grande artista de todos los tiempos. Descanse en Paz. Rest in Peace, we'll always love you, Michael.
I like seeing this, like the other person said before... this is REAL people... not scripted crap... these people are talking from their hearts and their own personal lives with/ around the jackson family
The first guy they interview tried time & time again for years to bum money off of me & my musician buddies at gigs around Gary CONSTANTLY!!!! No Joke at all!!!
it would be awesome to live there.I wanna live in that house. i would be so excited to live in his child hood home where the Jackson 5 lived. how cool would that be?
thank you! ... i don't report news....i prefer human interest...the point is ....we as people make the difference.....we all need to just be nicer to one another.....it really is that simple!
That kid wanted me to give him a job.....I sensed something about him and I did seek him out afterwards but I couldn't find him. I would like to meet him again. If anybody can help arrange that, maybe I can help him out.
Douglas yes at the time of Michael's death a distant relative was living in the house. Today it is fenced off with a memorial plaque of Micheal in the front. I don't think anyone is living in there anymore...not 100% sure on that though.
@theblunttruth I'm from Gary and contrary to most beliefs, some people can properly speak the English language. Though I must admit that this video doesn't necessarily highlight that fact. Personally I think Mike should have help more people in the community to obtain a proper education since he had the means to do so.

It's become a local shrine of sorts. They fenced it off since Michael's death. I also believe its unoccupied.

My Pleasure.
I don't believe anybody lives in it anymore. I hear one of Michael's cousins owns the house.

i was told it was empty ... can you believe that? not sure who owns either.
Does anyone presently live in the house?
What do they think of all the publicity in their front yard?
