    7:27 ok. I have been watching your videos for more than a year and last month I finally managed to fly 24 hours from land down under to Switzerland. And this...this slice of happiness is so worth it. The hosts were amazing - our kids were happy and swiss lager was frothy and again this slice of heaven in Zermatt is a must eat. I really wanted to spend my lunch money here. Thanks Jana and Brett. Your guidance and tips made all the difference. For anyone planning to take the gornergrat just make sure you have a pit stop at Alphitta and let Dave and Tanja look after you.

    Great video - I went up there in the summer of 1999 with my uncle and aunt on a day trip from Saas Fee - I wish I’d seen the sheep then? How cute are they? 😆
    The landscape up there feels like you are on the moon doesn’t it? It reminds me of the Lünarsee just over the border in Austria.

    Thank you for your youtube and other resources (we bought the 1 week guide to the Jungfrau region) which were very helpful on our recent Swiss trip!
    We stayed 3 days in Zermatt as well, and walked down from Rotenboden into Zermatt on 17 June. Lots of snow on the paths to Riffelberg and many people were ill prepared. On track some snow still went waist deep. Riffelsea was frozen. Someone standing on it found the ice wasn't that thick and got rather wet! People were expecting sheep in conditions with snow everywhere! Just apply some due diligence whatever the time of year and especially outside of July and August. And you should have as good a walk down as we had. The food at Riffelberg was definitely earned!

    How difficult would it be to try and get Sunnegga/Rothorn in on the same day as Cornergratt, if I wanted to do the 5 lake hike, mountain cart, trottibike, train to cornergratt and then some hiking around Cornergratt? I'm assuming that it would be smart to get the Peak Pass for this right?

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  2 місяці тому

      Great question! We personally think these are worth giving their own days to really explore. But if you're committed to a full day where you'll have to skip a few things, it could be done. We recommend doing Sunnega-Rothorn first, since the train to Gornergrat runs much later. Hope this helps!

    Hi, if I booked the one-way ticket from Zermatt to Gornergrat but got off halfway at Rotenboden, do I need to buy another train ticket from Rotenboden to Gornergrat?🤔

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi there! No need for an extra ticket! As long as you don't back-track or double-up on any sections you can stop halfway and then continue the rest of your journey the same day on the one ticket.

    Perfect timing! I just purchased your new Zermatt travel guide and Lucerne this morning! And your transportation guide is also amazing. I am just still struggling to figure out the best way to get from Milan to Zermatt using the glacier express. I’m assuming we would need to travel from Milan to St Moritz… and then take the express from there???? And we can use the half fare card to purchase that ticket??? Planning a Switzerland trip is tricky! Thank you for all of your help!

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  11 місяців тому +1

      Woohoo, so glad you snagged our new Zermatt Guide! And you're right that you'd need to travel from Milan to St. Moritz to hop on the Glacier Express. (Note that it only departs St. Moritz in the morning, so you'd probably have to travel from Milan and do an overnight in St. Moritz) The Half Fare Card will work on the Glacier Express tickets as well. Sounds like a super fun trip to Italy and Switzerland!!!

    Your videos are so helpful! Just wondering whether it is doable to do Matterhorn and Gornergrat AND do a hike (1-2 hrs) somewhere half way in one day... or should we do two separate days.... Or just choose..... A peak pass is valid for only one day...gets more expensive for 2 days.... hence my question. Thanks!

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  5 місяців тому +1

      If you want to do these two excursions in the same day, look into the Peak2Peak Ticket. It's possible to include a hike...if you want to do this, we suggest going to Glacier Paradise in the morning and Gornergrat in the afternoon. Enjoy!
