Its nice weather, you got a manual. Take the Engine and gear box out and strip the engine. Great fun and no worries. See what you get and where it goes. Check the clutch while your there.. A series is simply the best engine to re-build. Take your time and have fun and lots of tea breaks.. Good luck mate.

Hi👏weather not been so good last couple of days but it's British weather.
I will sort out another engine for George and keep his and might rebuild it some time.
Like you say they are simple engines.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment 🤓👍

Great to see a start made on saving George. I think he must be a keeper after this? Never to leave your side again - lol! Third time you will have saved him!! Will be following the progress closely. So annoying to think that a stripped thread on that oil pipe could have caused all of this.

Hi everyone made a start on saving George.
I think i will find a replacement engine for him and then may rebuild his engine in the future that's if I don't have to use the cylinder head on another engine.
But the main thing is to get George up and running as my Daily driver.
    Thanks for watching 🤓👍

George is savable, but if you intend to rebuild the original engine you will need to have the crank re ground and replace the connecting rods that are damaged if the bearing has spun in the rod, do not even think of reusing the one with the broken bolt, its scrap.
I would also check the pistons, hone the bores and fit new rings while it is in bits and you will need a new oil pump the old one may be full of bits if old bearings.
Once done should be good for anothe 10 years
I would be looking for another engine that i could drop in.
Have you thought about a 1098? They are more plentiful but the internals are not interchangable however the complete unit is.
The only change would be the carburettor needle if you had to use your old carb.
I re built my first A series engine in 1968 ( a 1098) and have done quite a few over the years and am still re building them ( 1275 at the moment).
    Good luck with the rebuild

You sound like you know what you are talking about.
I think another engine is going to be the best thing to do.

If you have the chance of another engine that may be the way forward.
That means you will have the original engine and at some stage when finances allow get it rebuilt.
I admire your positivity and wish you well what ever you decide to do going forward.
Lots of youtubers have thanks buttons and buy me a coffee..
I would defiantly chip in to help ,if you set something up.
