I don’t normally comment on tutorials (I should really start doing so), but this was very well-done! Clearly explained, nicely paced so people can follow along in real time and then fast forward/rewind as needed. For viewers, a good chunk of time was spent separating the batteries from the adhesive tape inside. This is the most time-consuming part of the battery replacement. You can also use a 1-2” plastic putty/spackle knife or paint scraper, whatever you prefer to call it. Having a handle really saves your fingers from using the little credit card type pieces that come with the battery. Again, A+ video and instructions!
This by far is the best of all the explanations I have seen on this topic. Obviously someone who actually knows what they are doing by experience . This is my second shot as the first was a total disaster, broken trackpad cable, shorted battery. Fortunately all good this time around makes all the difference when following someone who knows.
Thank you so much for your fantastic video! The battery replacement worked and I saved a lot of money by doing it myself versus going to the Apple store!
Excellent video and perfectly helped me replace my battery. One thing to note is that after replacing the battery, you need to reset the SMC (Google it) on the laptop to reset the battery cycle count and remove the "Battery service recommended" message. I really appreciate that you show how to remove the trackpad so as not to damage it when loosening the middle battery. I couldn't get it to slide around after reinstalling it, and that"s because I had tightened the screws nearest the edge of the case. Once I loosened those, it was easy to slide around the trackpad to align it correctly.
This was an excellent guide and explanation! You saved me a lot of money on a service appointment for my venerable (2017) MacBook Pro. Thank you from Canada :)
Great video, maybe the best instructional video on replacing battery on this particular MacBook Pro model. I just wish you would have spent more time explaining the disengagement of the battery to the logic connector. Out of all the steps, I actually struggled with this part the most and in the process of trying to disengage, the 6pin cable connector came off. Now I have to find a repair shop that will reinstall it for me. But thank you again for the detailed guidance 🙏🏾.
Just finished my install, went great and working all sweet. I’ll admit, the apple batteries are ridiculously sticky even with using 100% isopropyl alcohol they still were hard to remove. Upon removal your battery went in perfectly and very easily, no issue at all. I had once circumstance at the end when I plugged in my laptop to power and turned my laptop on and it all booted up, but the computer wouldn’t survive on its battery, I then instantly went to the ribbon cable on the left and re-latched it properly as i must not have anchored it properly, then I was all good after that. Thanks for the quick delivery, hoping this battery can last me another 8+ years
Great video! Worked perfectly for about two weeks and then the battery bricked again. Computer would not turn on. Luckily Amazon is sending a replacement because it was under 30 days. I think the battery had a 1-year warranty as well. Lets hope the new one works. It was charging fine, no "Service" message, lasting a long time, etc and then just died. I have gotten pretty fast at changing them out now! I used a hair dryer to warm up the glue from the other side and the glue released easy. Just warm not hot as Lithium ion batteries can be dangerous with heat. I would not use a heat gun. I didn't put any heat on the keyboard or logic board.
Thank you for the material, I have a technical question that has been bothering me for a while, why does a damaged trackpad tape, cause a huge slowdown of the macbook?
Thank you! Just replaced my son’s MacBook Pro battery while he was home from uni. Easy to follow along. Man, Apple don’t make things easy though, do they?
I had this issue, for me, it was he ribbon cable on the left under the fan, I thought I had slotted it in and clipped the lever over properly but it must not have made the connection. If this does not solve your problem, try the other ribbon cable on the right of the main battery T5 screw
Hello Sir. I'm planning such an adventure myself on my mac, exactly the same model but I find it a bit curious in picking the battery. There are a few price differences out there on ebay and I can't really decide if I should go for cheaper or more expensive. Thanks, great video
I would definitely not use acetone. Can easily damage the plastic of the old battery and make it short resulting in potential fire. I rarely respond to comments, but this can be serious if you do use it.
Essentially, a 99% is considered as a very poor conductive liquid, due the very low percentage of water, but that does not mean it's a dielectric fluid, there's still a very small chance it can cause a short. So why take any chances?
@@comptechnyc I've been using it for over 10 years now and never once have had a single issue and I sometimes use a considerable amount on motherboards, but, to each their own.
Just finished this install, and i have to say, why the fuck does apple not just screw-mount their batteries. They just don’t want amateurs doing this job and they want their $500 service repair

No need to. The motherboard reads the battery chip upon every startup and shutdown
This was fantastic! The instructions were clear and concise and my laptop is no longer dead!

Would like to fix my MacBook Pro
Thank you for the excellent video! Taking the battery out sure is labor intensive haha
Thank you bro your video very helpful for me☺☺
thanks for this tuto, very helpful
What is the washer arrangement on the trackpad? How many washers on which posts? This unit has NONE!
Excellent video. Thanks!
it worked perfectly, thanks a lot !
Excellent. Thsnks👍
Do i need to do something with the software in order to let the computer know i put on a new battery?
100% isopropyl alcohol would reduce this to a 15 minute repair
You also wouldnt need goo gone
Great video! Thanks!
Success!!! Thank you🎉
Very useful - thank you.
You have to protect the screen. Put a towel in between.
Got battery replaced, but macOS show battery not charging message, and it is, when adaptor cable unplugged , computer stops. What can be the problems?

Can you use aceton to remove the battery easilier? For me its no problem if the old battery gets damaged.

Good job 😊
Thank you
I'm going to try this right now, wish me luck
how'd it go
Thank you so much :) great to point out the track pad removal. I would have totally massacred it if not removed 🎉
you rock
You won't cause a short circuit with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Just an FYI

I can confirm that I repaired my laptop using this tutorial. It was either that or use it as a doorstop. Just kidding! Thanks a lot 🙌🏽.
apple is SOOOO evil with this idea of putting glue under a battery. the amount of stick can support a man.
