It's INCREDIBLE that lots of us started watching you so long ago when you were way back in Oregon, and we've been there with you this entire time. Your life in 10-20 minute snapshots, from then until now, when your child (a whole other LIFE!) needs a desk.
What an awesome journey. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Yeah last time I watched her there was no kid. How time flies
Unless you try out the innovations, you cannot learn something new. And you are always working to teach innovations. And you always produce innovative studies and ideas. Thank you for sharing. See you. greetings.
very good for the first try and few techniques along
This was not only a great project, but the video editing was impeccable. I like how you had the initial design and how you changed things. The video length was perfect.
Watching your process of design was more interesting than what you were building. I really enjoyed seeing your focus group trying out your design.
To prevent blown out edges with an upcut bit, you can run the outlines first with a v-bit and make a groove 1mm deep - essentially breaking the edges before you make the rest of the cuts. This is enough to prevent the fibers from chipping out, especially if the top veneer of the plywood is very fragile.
These machines made many things easier Greetings to the one who made it 👏👏👏👏
I learned a lot from this - for example, there are various bits, depth matters, different material may behave differently on cnc, and planning cuts is part of the creative process. Thank you for the video!
Love the combo...desk and chair. Definitely inspector approved!
I think we are all considering desks right now with the kids and adults working from home. I have been considering some plywood designs since your original video with the full size. Thanks for all the design ideas!!!
Excellent work. Time to fire up my Shapeoko.
Very cool design! Nice work!
I love the design !
I love your golden omg
Amazing process and work, Linn. And August is soooo huge!
Hi Linn,
Great design and execution on the desk and chairs. Seems like your inspector was pleased with the results.
I like how you designed this so that it can be built with a CNC router, a jig saw, or a stone chisel and mallet!
Thanks and regards,
R
Love your CNC mind. Cool stuff. Keep it up.
the fuzz at the top of the cut is a result of the bit you are using. you could try a combination spiral bit to resolve it (the top of the bit cuts downward and the bottom of the bit cuts upward if I remember correctly) . also you would love a laser and what it would do for you.
that would be a compression bit -- those are great
great build! I like the design
Beautiful work, Linn! The desk and the chairs look fantastic! 😃
Nicely done!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for sharing!!
great to see August, Hope you guys are all well. neat project and I am sure it will be fun to play on.
Hey glad to see you're back making videos haven't seen you in a loooooong time.
i like the design.. going to purchase...thank you.
Amazing super thank you
Great video and project Linn! I liked seeing how you improved each version of the chair and desk.
Thanks Steve, nice to hear from you!
Well done, with help of CNC!
I love your videos. Ignore the mean people. Don’t get discouraged. 😉
I like the design of the table & chair. I can see it at IKEA someday! :)
Love the modern look on all pieces. The fuzz...plywood and MDF. I use downcut bits, or 3 or 4 blade end mills. I don't have a CNC, but use these on my router when routing this type of material. I'm going to be rabbeting cedar boards with the router this weekend, another material that splinters with upcut bits, so I'll be using a downcut bit (much prefer the rabbet plane, but unavoidable cedar knots on the edges...ugh). The compression bit is another good idea. :)
Though it is little extra work, I get less "fuzz" if I take a light initial cut using a spiral downcut first pass, then change to a spiral upcut for the rest. Good job, and nice design (as usual).
شيئ رائع ! عمل مذهل wonderful job!
Magic mom ♥️ - MDF Template & router could be great for small batches too.
Really nice! Maybe there is a way to make adjustable legs for added height as they grow? Sliding/folding leg extensions with a peg of some sort to hold it. Maybe same for chair? Just an idea.
Linn try using dogbone features to get internal sharp corners for flat pack furniture.
It let’s you put a square piece into a square hole.
Muy interesante, quizá podría lijar todo el tablero con maquina antes de extraer las piezas del puzle y así tenerlas listas sin rebaba
Thank you, very nice video..😙😙😙🙌
+1 for using crenelations!
Great process video and love how you iterated towards the final design (which is really nice!). I'm curious if you've thought about selling a set of templates to build this set. It would give the jigsaw and router shops an easier path to getting a clean result.
I'm not seeing any of your videos. Just happend to see this in my notifications. Im watching again.
Your son is adorable. I have a little girl the same age.
Really loving these CNC videos, Linn! Any reason you're not using dog bone fillets on the mortises? It would make things a little easier for fitting, no roundover required!
It's furniture for kids, a roundover is probably necessary anyway. Plus it eliminates the need for all the cuts from the CNC to be perfect.
Hi .yes , you have alot of design shaping which is used in plastic design with the small table and chairs , but nice idea project.
Linn.
Hi Linn! thank you for sharing your process. Could you tell me please the size of the router bit you used?? Thank you! :)
ALso Lyn can you do an update on your Mini-split and let me know what you think about it...I just got the Perfect Air (same Mfg. as the mrcool, different name, and I think I am going to need to keep my gas heater for those really cold nights)
Pocket holes to the rescue!
Muito bom,
Try compression bits for cleaner cuts.
Try watching the video for more information
I do not have any yet, but they sell those compression router bits which push all the cut wood to the center, do you think that could have helped with the cuts here? (Maybe you cover that in version two in the video). And yep, you did that for version 2 :)
Can you squeeze the desk and chair onto a single 4x8 sheet? This is such a great project and design! Especially right now when so many parents are running school from home. I'll definitely be purchasing your CNC plans. Please keep designing for CNC (and single 4x8 sheet projects if can 😉).
Did you end up making this? Were you able to fit it on one 4x8' sheet?
*🔰I like itsss...💓👍👍👍*
Sangat bagus dan keren sekali..

Looks super
What do you do with the remaining wood parts? I mean the parts you cut the parts out of
I'm still living in 2019, where I have to cut this out with a jigsaw. These big and expensive machines drive me crazy because almost none of us will have the money to get one and the space to operate it. I love this build but CNC cutting kind of drives me away towards things I can accomplish. :(
Then use jigsaw... what's the big deal? You miss the point about iterating. That is only possible with this type of trial and error on a machine like this.
@@darbinorvar You are right. I did not intend to criticize your work. I really enjoy seeing what you build and it gives me ideas of what to build. Plywood, which is so stable and relatively inexpensive, is becoming one of my favourite materials!
Mike Gerrits check out the Maslow CNC machine. It is around $500 + a few hundred in lumber to build the rack. Maker Made 🙌🏽
Great work, so nice to see the different design iterations. My problem: I have got metric kids, would these desks and chairs fit them, too? ;-)
For the kids: www.metric-conversions.org/length/inches-to-centimeters.htm
@@jdmznet Thank you so much! I was afraid I had to adopt a couple of Imperial kids just to follow the plans!
I'm struck by how the CNC is not only a cutting tool but a design tool. You have to sit down and CAD out the work before the first cut. But then you can quickly iterate and make 5 or 10 small changes and really improve a design.
plywood is great in flat
I'd definitely call them crenellations. And I'm surprised that anyone else would even know to call them that. Good word
LInn, Ikea of the South. :)
Vc pode me ajudar a montar uma cnc?
Can anyone tell me what software is she using?

I tried buying this and the site won't let me.

Ah, an ikea girl
For me, using a cnc machine is not woodworking. As for building the project, you're only assembling a cnc cutout. You're just saving a trip to Ikea. I used to like your videos when you did real woodworking. Well, that's just my opinion.
I don't think you know what woodworking is... just my opinion ;)
There are Luddites in every endevor.
Wow, how rude. Well I hope you don't use power tools, that's not "real" woodworking. 🙄
