Making a Plywood Chair with a CNC - free plans

- I have wanted to make a chair for a really long time now, and now that I have a cnc that could actually cut larger pieces I decided to make one. The chair is an open source project - so If you want to use the files you can download them from the link below. Since making the chair I already made some changes to the seat, and all of the files are included in the bundle.
If you want to use the same Easel Project as I did you can find it here: www.inventable...

Well done, nice design!
wow this was so relaxing - thank you!
great video, I'd love to see some more on your design process!
really great project! I was looking for a modern chair from plywwod whose height could be adjusted. I am planning to make a walnut dining table and want to keep the max height of the chair to be flushed with height of the table. That would give a very clean look to the whole setup and help to appreciate the beauty of the walnut table top. These plans are perfect!
Cool! Sounds like a nice plan
Thanks a lot brother... Will definitely try it.
Wow. This looks really nice, and I think I may try this build this weekend. It looks really overbuilt with the dimensions you use, and I'm wondering if 12mm plywood would still provide enough strength on the legs.
Interesting. Nice video, beautifuly done. I like the scandinavian design. However, I have how much plywood is wasted. I challenge you to design the chair with minimal waste possible! More joints is okay :) Or I shall try it myself and share the result :) Chairs!
It's a really lovely chair. Would love to see you make a leather padding for the backrest. Would look quite smart!
Thats a good idea! I might do that
Saludos desde Perú, gracias por compartir tus trabajos. Descargue el archivo para poder armar uno. Excelente trabajo.
Smart idea
Very impressive, just found you and look forward to checking your back catalog 👍
That looks amazing, I am wondering if there is a way to print out the pieces and use as a mould to use a hand router and a jigsaw to complete the project.
Anyone done a version with a cushion?
Keep going on..😊
design looks like the shaper chair which was available for a while at the shaper hub
turned out great!
Three years later are you still waiting for the 3 dragons? 🤣
add you a sacrificial board under the plywood and cut it thru. that is my opinion of how id do it but whatever works is good
Hello,
I am hoping in the future to remix this to help those who are looking to escape DV situations as well as help those get back on their feet.
My goal for the remix is to be able to disassemble by removing screws and stow the screws in the seat, and when disassembled it will lay flat for storage or moving.
Three dragons?! That’s a big commission!
Yeah I should have asked for up front payment :)
thanks for the video! great chair
Thanks for watching!
Love it!!
Fan vad snygg den blev! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Tack!! 😃
Great tutorial, but overall, very inspirational work. Congrats.
excellent
Hello, I live in Russia. I can’t make the payment. How can I get this file for the chair?
Very nice. A little improvement, if I may: the rounding of the seat should start immediately after the end of the back leg to a void the widening gap between the two. I'm quite sure you can make 3 or even 4 chairs from a sheet of plywood (by splitting some pieces). Sorry for the dragons.
Thanks! The leg pieces could for sire be divided more as they leave a lot of empty space around them. As for the rounding of the seat - totally agree.
Great!
incredible! thanks for sharing this!!!!
Hello, what software should I be using to create frames like this in 3D & cut in a CNC machine. Do you have any courses you may recommend?
That's a really good looking chair. There was loads of design work that went into it and it's good to see a bit of the process as you made the prototype. I was wondering as you made the dowel jigs if you could have cut at least some of those with the CNC? Maybe using some sort of mortice and tenon joint cut but the CNC might also be an option. (Appreciate that would have probably added to the two day deadline in CAD time though :)
Absolutely beautiful! Roughly how many chairs can 8ft by 4ft plywood make?
Thanks! One sheet would make for two chairs.
how does one reject a commission when 3 dragons are the payment ? I mean, really ! 3 chairs for the dragons - hip hip hooray hip hip hooray hip hip hooray ! btw your English is impeccable :)
Awesome project.and very well explained. i have downladed the plans and hope to cut them using the svg files in vectric pro. stupid question but what are the dimensions for the parts so i can scale the vectors accordingly in vectric and nest them before cutting? thank you for your help.
😮😮😮😮 good
Pleas I need this file
This is awesome. If I make multiple chairs, would they be stackable? Or would I need to make adjustments to the design to make it work? 🤔
Thanks! They are not stackable unfortunately
This is great for your chair design, may i hve copy pdf😀
the file can be downloaded via the link in the description
Grat job :)
Thanks! :)
Love, hope one day we can work together. Cheers.
Very stylish stool! But it does not look comfy to me to be fair hahaha, but really well made!
haha it was actually surprisingly comfy, but I agree, it doesn't look to be. Thanks :)
Quá tuyệt vời luôn người ae
Is it possible to upload a step file along with fusion file?
Nevermind. I found out that fusion is free for hobbyist
From Fusion you can export to step-files
riktigt nice. får man fråga var du får tag i din plywood?
Det jag använde till stolen köpte jag på Calexico. Tack! :)
@@TheSwedishMaker tackar :)
i bought the plans a week ago, and i cut up version of the chair, i found that the angle from the seat to the back rest 80 degrees, and this makes this design very uncomfortable to sit on, as 80 degrees sitting posture is ergonomically shit!! so i think a new sitting posture is on the cards, perhaps somewhere in the 100 - 105 degrees.
Your right that the angle isnt ideal for leaning back. That would be a welcome upgrade to it. I´ve yet to find time to make it but all the files are available for free download.
var köper du björkplywood? Tycker det är svårt att hitta här i sverige. och om man hittar kostar det som guld ungefär! :-O
haha såg att frågan redan va ställd längre ner. :-P
CAN NOT ABLE TO DOWNLOAD
DO YOU HAVE DFX FILE
Hi
Have you found it?
@@aricontreras6173 yes but I need dwg or dfx or art files 🤔
lo descargue pero para aspire no me sirve... alguien puede ayudarme?
Yep... it's a chair
Please let me apologize. I was watching your UA-cam channel and everything was coming in slow motion. I thought it was you trying to be funny. It was not you at all. It was my UA-cam feed. I’m so sorry about the comment that I made. Please accept my apology. 🙏🙏🙏
its mdf
only the prototype. the final chair is made from plywood
I think it's a gimmick. The computer work is limiting to the craft, unless you're mass producing. The birch plywood is so expensive that you can easily buy planks of red oak for the same price...
The problem is he used a Fucking $5k CNC for something that could be done on a $1k laser cutter
Too much waste. Who exactly is planting birch trees for future needs? Not many. Its all spruce and pine.
I just want to see you build a chair 🪑 I mean no offense you have talent but the other stuff where are you trying to be funny is too long and drawn out Though I do appreciate humor, yours is to much and it’s not really funny friendly advice like I said, I mean no offense 🙏🙏🙏
