My husband and I are long distance and he'll be here in a few weeks and I just sent him this; now we have plans to make these tacos, margaritas, and sit out on my back deck. This is such a perfect summer recipe!!
I have only had premade jackfruit (Uptons, etc.) because I'm a bit nervous about cooking it on its own. Thank you for sharing this easy recipe and helping to get over my irrational fear haha. These tacos look and sound so flavorful. And I love that you mention various brands of canned jackfruit on your blog, so helpful!
I don't know if anyone else mentioned, but if you have dry or sensitive skin, wear gloves to work with the poblanos ... those seeds and innards will cause serious pain ... This recipe is definitely on my list!!!! Thank you 😘😘😘
I made these, and they are amazing! I sub'd the slaw for lettuce, tomatoes and purple onion though. Lauren your recipes never let me down. The sauce was so good I will never put cheese on a taco again!
We (Mexicans) flip the tortillas with our fingers, that is how we prove we are a real mexican hahahaha but yeah, we do it like that since we are little kids.... those tacos look amazing!!
The Viet Vegan just rinse it out and wipe it. never ever use soap on it ever!!!! for new cast medium heat. heat the dry pan, pour in oil just enough to coat. rub oil around with a paper towel. turn off heat let it cool. repeat. done! the more you you use the skillet the more nonstick it gets
I regularly for jackfruit recipes see them recommend get rid of the core but it's so wasteful bc whats left is so little sometimes so I'm glad to see you use the core too
This adobe cream sauce is DOPE! I've made it a few times. Your recipe is SO simple and it's SO freaking delicious, we put it on everything now -- salads, crudite dips, burrito bowls, tofu scrambles, etc.
Usually I cringe whenever ppl do fusion meals like this but I was very pleasantly surprised! You didn't claim that your tacos were traditional or anything like that. You just unapologetically made your own thing and I respect that. (Even though you used gross flour tortillas) lol jkjk love you girl💕
I made this recipe last night and it instantly become one of my favorites!! The flavors are incredible. The sauce was a little too spicy, so definitely add a little of the peppers at a time. But to everyone reading this comment - make these tacos.
the filming feels different! it's interesting to see the little differences that build up to make it stylistically noticeable, like the different angles and zoom. :) still the same, inspiring content, of course. these tacos these look deeeelicious!
I shared this on my Facebook page. I love this! I haven't tried this particular recipe yet, but I did try Jackfruit as BBQ sandwiches and my kids loved it and agreed to eat it as much as I want to make it, so I want to make these tacos. It is so much healthier than meat and then we don't have to worry about all those hormones and junk in the food. Thank you so much for demonstrating this recipe and I am sure my family is going to love it! I have subscribed to your channel, because you make everything look so simple and easy to understand. Thanks again!
I made this with my own tweaks but the same recipe basicly. it was better than regular tacos..holy moly so good I will make more and try more vegan recipes. definitely my favorite so far
I don't think I have ever been this jealous to watch you eat food, yes, yes Lauren I will watch you eat the whole thing 😂😂😂 this is something I can make and I am already salivating 😎
my mom taught me to roast the poblano peppers on a comal (spanish), or that ginormous tray pan where you heat up tortillas. that's the way we've always done it!
I just made this but with palm hearts instead because it's impossible to find jackfruit at any grocery stores. It was amazing! The sauce especially is spicy and bomb af.
hey Lauren You should try cook jackfruit Indian style. Its a very regular vegetable (yes, we eat it as vegetable) in Indian households. Its super delicious and goes well with roti or rice
Great inspiration! Definitely didn't have all ingredients but I did have a can of jackfruit. Worked great with a side of roasted cauliflower and raw chinese cabbage and cucumber - to have a fresh and crispy bite with it. Sauce was really yummy as well. Thanks a lot!
Hello from Albuquerque, NM! We roast green chiles in these huge tumblers every fall, then let them sit in basically huge garbage bags to sweat, then peel them all day long. I also recently made carne adovada jack fruit tacos! Jack fruit is great for tacos!
I made a slaw so similar to this one on Sunday!!! Only I added scallions bc I had them chopped already and s&p and massaged the cabbage so it was a little softer! So good!!!!!
I love that you have the same janky baking sheet I do. LOL That jank represents a thousand lovingly crafted homemade goodies!! haha and now that I see yours looks like mine--I'm keepin it!
made this recipe today and it came out great! the sauce came out perfect with half the adobo can. My carnivore husband wanted more texture so next time I'll make with hard shell tacos. :)
I'm new to cooking for myself in general cause I always go out to eat, so I want to say thank you so much for making this process so entertaining. Made your Nacho "cheese" sauce last night and it was the best! Definitely can't wait to make more of your recipes 😊😍
I love that you do recipes that resemble meat! It is great for families who aren't vegan and are trying to do meatless Mondays or cut down on meat in general! :)
I made jackfruit tacos for the first time on Sunday and the little pods scared me and my husband I'm so glad you addressed them in your video. I thought it was pretty awesome otherwise we ate it all no leftovers
I made the tacos, the adobo cream sauce and made my own coleslaw using vegan mayo mixed w/ some of the adobo cream sauce, and topped the taco w/guacamole, and sour cream. I had it in hard taco shells. The next day using the leftovers I made taco salad using iceberg lettuce and chili lime Doritos. Very yummy especially the adobo cream sauce. I will make it again. After being cooked does the jack fruit freeze well? I had leftover adobo cream sauce and put that in the freezer, I'll report back on how that taste when I reheat it.
I defrosted the adobo cream sauce two months later in a small saucepan with less than a tablespoon of water stirring until smooth and hot on a low flame. It was just as yummy as the day I originally made it. The sauce makes the meal!
I'm all about that Jackfruit Life😎the great imitator..I always tell people that it takes on the flavor of whatever seasonings that you use. I made jackfruit fritters two days ago that were insanely good and the Swiss Chard Chickpea veggie medley🤗🤗🤗the best!
can we use fresh jackfruit or should we soak them in water beforehand? (becz the one we bought in Asia is usually yellow in color and is very sweet, but i want to try making this >v
Just got done making this, absolutely delicious. I did have a problem with the sauce and had to add a tad more water to it. Other than that, outstanding recipe.
You are seriously the queen of sauces. And sandwiches. And pasta. YUM.
The Viet Vegan to be honest she's good at everything

My husband and I are long distance and he'll be here in a few weeks and I just sent him this; now we have plans to make these tacos, margaritas, and sit out on my back deck. This is such a perfect summer recipe!!
Megan Hanberg I was just about to send my long distance partner this video!
Mindy Zuckerman yes!! I love sending my partner recipes so we can make plans of date night dinners in. It keeps it going when it's hard sometimes
I've been thinking about tacos all day is this a sign that I need to make this recipe tonight.
I have only had premade jackfruit (Uptons, etc.) because I'm a bit nervous about cooking it on its own. Thank you for sharing this easy recipe and helping to get over my irrational fear haha. This chipotle adobo sauce is EVERYTHING. I love it in veggie wraps and on sandwiches too!!
I made these, and they are amazing! I sub'd the slaw for lettuce, tomatoes and purple onion though. Lauren your recipes never let me down. The sauce was so good I will never put cheese on a taco again!

You're killing me! That looks so good. If nothing else, I HAVE to make that adobo sauce.
Can you show us how you clean and oil your cast iron? I have a pan but I can never get it seasoned right so I never use it XD
The Viet Vegan buzzfeed has a great video on it!
I love your videos lisa
The Viet Vegan just rinse it out and wipe it. never ever use soap on it ever!!!! for new cast medium heat. heat the dry pan, pour in oil just enough to coat. rub oil around with a paper towel. turn off heat let it cool. repeat. done! the more you you use the skillet the more nonstick it gets

those look HEAVENLY
my mom taught me to roast the poblano peppers on a comal (spanish), or that ginormous tray pan where you heat up tortillas. that's the way we've always done it!
plus I believe she cuts them open and cleans it out + takes the seeds out first so they're not so hard to take out inside the gooey cooked pepper!
i'm going to new orleans today for the first time (i'm canadian too) and i'm going to go to Seed thanks to you! can't wait!!
Alice Trépanier-Laplante. I was there when I was in Nola, so good!

Sara Avila I know I do it that way too. Plus my oven takes longer to roast them.
Sara Avila ¡Es la manera mexicana! 😉🇲🇽💕
I love doing it on the stove now that we have a gas stove . When we had an electric stove, we used the oven.
Your videos always make me so hungry
That looks AMAZING!! Lauren, could you do a tempeh recipe next?
