Talking About the Dune RTS Licence - Stream Highlight

The Herbert estate had the attitude of "what's old should stay old" on the topic of bringing the old Dune games to GOG. However they did approve the re-release of the old Avalon Hill board game so maybe they changed their attitude. Even so, a Dune RTS, either old or new, is still very unlikely to happen IMO.

With the Denis Villeneuve Dune being released soon, a new Dune RTS would be... Well, beyond awesome. The original still holds a special place in my heart. I was introduced to the world of Dune by the old Westwood RTS. Might never have read the book otherwise.

I would expect a game much more like Assassin's Creed, in that you play a character who has strategic choices.

Funcom actually is working on a game based on the new movie, but that's a survival game, persumably similar to conan exiles, but it hasn't been properly introduced to the public yet.
After that's released and is successful enough, and AoE4 is also a success, maybe we can see them partnering up with Petroglyph again for a Dune RTS Project.

Petroglyph recently stopped work on Earthbreakers because they were approached by an unnamed studio to work on a new title. We still don't know who or what. I'm very keen to find out.

@@Jaco_Schutte I hope it's the almost inevitable Tiberian Sun & Red Alert 2 remaster, but who knows.

Funcom and Petroglyph have partnership for RTS games of Funcom properties.

Ultimately if EA wanted to rerelease these games they could have. They would just need to send some cash to other parties involved. I really doubt the rumour that Herbert estate thinks old things should stay old or whatever. Just doesn't make sense, money is never old.
But there's probably nobody at EA that's interested other than Jimtern making inquiries.
