MY MOMMA USE TO MAKE THIS ALL THE TIME ❤ YOUR PIE LOOKS DELICIOUS ❤ AM GONNA TRY AND FOLLOW YOUR RECIPES AND HOPE I DO WELL 🙏🏿 THANKS FOR ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO ❤
I don’t even know if I like custard pie, but DAAAANNNNGGG that looks amazing! When I was a child in the 1970s/80s, my step-grandmother who lived in Midway,Tennessee, would make us a butterscotch pie. I wish I knew how it was made! It was so delicious! All I know is it had eggs in it lol
Tammy, this looked like my grandmother’s egg custard and buttermilk pies. Hers always had the 2 layers when she put the butter slices on top. But on some of her egg custard pies she would leave it out and it would be the one layer. I think it’s the high fat in butter maybe, not the oven. But either way, I LOVE when they have the two layers. So good!
I have to make this because I’ve never ate a custard pie before. I agree, a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon on top would be perfect… Thank you beautiful lady. ❤
That pie looks absolutely beautiful and delicious!! Thanks for sharing recipe won't download I will try again tomorrow. Really want to make!! Have a Blessed Day!!
I love egg custard pie, nobody in my family don't care much for it ,so I would just buy a piece at this restaurant they made really good egg custard but they went out of business ,I can't wait to try this recipe it looks so good .
Tammy, I remembered you saying the first custard filling got under the crust and made a mess BUT this one sure make up for it. My mamaw & mother made one similar but not sure if it was exact. It made my mouth water when you cut it! TY for sharing the old recipe.
My Granny also would put meringue on her Egg Custard Pie. She'd put it on when it was almost done. Boys howdy!!! That made it SO good! What I wouldn't give for a piece of her pie, still slightly warm! It was heavenly!!
Anyone notice that the pie shell out of oven with beans, the Pie crust Didn't come up to the top. and then grow back? Lol. Pie looks good and I will make one. But dang something looks different about the before, after and finished pie crust. Mine often shrink too, that's why I was paying attention
Looks delicious Ms. Tammy and Chris🎉. Those are beautiful eggs, esp.with the deep rich egg yolks. We have not had a good custard pie in years, thanks for the recipe 😋❤.
I was able to get the recipe off your website but the ingredients don't match what you did. The nutmeg was put in egg mixture with the vanilla. You used 9 eggs but recipe says 5? There was also no mention of putting it on the stove for a few minutes. I'm confused.
Oh my…. Do I love custard pie!! Not very many people make it any more that I am aware of. Maybe that has something to do with the price of eggs as well. My granny could sure make a good one too😊
Hello Miss Tammy, Your pie looks really good. It reminds me of the lovely Custard Pies My Mom and Grandma used to Make. Of course they were farm Women and we had our own eggs and MIlk and home churned butter. It is so nice when one has REAL ingredients in abundance. Sometimes they would turn out a coconut custard pie too... Still a favorite with me. That recipe is 143 years old!!!! Thank you Miss tammy..... Rick
When my Granny made her Egg Custard Pie, she would take a fork & stir the pie about halfway thru baking time. This would help make sure there weren't "layers" from the sugar settling. I guess that's why Granny did it.
@@CollardValleyCooks im confused. you say different time and temps in the video, on the video screen and in the notes below. how long and what temp was the pie crust pre-baked with the beans?
My mom whipped very soft butter INTO the filling. I believe thats why you got 2 layers. OR AT LEAST add butter half way thru AND on the top. Its the FAT ❤
I would have added Vanilla Flavoring to this Custard Pie! I'm really surprised their Recipe didnt call for it , especially it being a Vintage! I always add Vanilla.... Thanks Tammy. God Bless. 🙏❤
If this custard pie is anything like those sour cream biscuits from a couple weeks back, well! I'm headed out back to squeeze a few extra eggs out of my chickens!!
She typed it out for me. It's easy. Look for my name & you can locate the recipe. I was the first to leave a comment about it. Good luck! 🍰 If you know how to do a screenshot, that's the easiest way. She will update it. Her internet has issues. I screenshot recipes myself.
I always strain my custard pie liquid through a sieve. The ropy texture of the solid bits (umbilical cords ?!?) in egg whites just grosses me out. So I always strain the custard liquid into the pie shell - through a sieve.
No sound , how much Suger was that. My cousin had baking classes in school. Her name is Tammy Elizabeth east. My neighbor was from Sweden her name was ester. We lived near bluedprings Orange City Florida. Nicknamed the fountain of youth by Ponce de Leon.
I make this pie all the time, add 1-2tsp of vanilla, and a pinch of nutmeg
Took me back to when my mom made this. Thank you.
Love, vintage, recipes. Would love to see more of them.
It’s been many many years since I’ve had a Custard Pie but this looks so good so I’m gonna make one ❤
MY MOMMA USE TO MAKE THIS ALL THE TIME ❤ YOUR PIE LOOKS DELICIOUS ❤ AM GONNA TRY AND FOLLOW YOUR RECIPES AND HOPE I DO WELL 🙏🏿 THANKS FOR ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO ❤
I made a custard pie last night! 3 c. Milk, 1 c. Sugar, 4 eggs,1/4 t. Salt, 1 t. Vanilla. Liberally top with nutmeg.
Looks FABULOUS!
That is such a delicious looking custard pie 😍😍
I love that you called yourself out "it's got 2 layers..was the oven to hot". ☺ Great videos.
Yummy 😊 makes me think about my granny's
I have always used vanilla in my custard.. sometimes a little cinnamon too.
yummy custard pie 🥧

I did that recipe today and it came out beautifully thank you very much it was a hit every one love it 💘
This is a great recipe. My husband's Grandmother put Black Raspberries (in season) on top when she made her custard pies.
Sound delicious, black raspberries are so good
I don't like custard, but the pie looks delicious. I'm gonna bake one for my family!
DON’T LIKE CUSTARD?!!!!! I cant believe that! I adore anything rich & creamy like custard! I guess to each his or her own. 👍
Love custard pie! Yum!
Always loved the old time Custard pie!♥️Thank You!
I thought ahead too soon, I was thinking of 3 bean salad. But I think this one will be worth giving a try.
Looks delicious
Thank you
Looks yummy. Simple ingredients
It looks delicious 😋.
When I was little we had eggs with the red spot. From the grocery store. We were healthy. We also had a milkman.
Beautiful Pie
Wow, that is a delicious looking pie !
I have to try that pie thank you 😅
Love a good vintage recipe. 😋 Thanks for sharing. Blessings 🙏❤️
Looks 🥧 Good
You should do a collab with Max Miller or Jon Townsend! Love seeing older recipes :)
Line the raw pie shell with parchment paper or foil before putting beans so it will get crisp.
When I tell you that I've been searching for this recipe from my great-grandmother.
Here it is!!! I'm so happy. I'm definitely going to try it. ❤
I love the touch of Nutmeg! Good call!
Looks so good. It' s got to be delicious and good 👍👍👍👍👍
Looks Delicious 😋 😍

Pretty pie ❤
This was one of my mama’s favorite pies. She loved custard. She would pour custard into ramekins and sprinkle nutmeg on top. It was delicious!
Looks good. Thank you.

I just LOVE custard pie with or without coconyt!!!❤❤❤
I made peanut butter pie using your recipe. It was delicious!!! Thanks for all of your hard work preparing these videos!
You brought back memories...my grandmother used to make egg custard pies. So delicious 😋
OMG I so badly want to eat dinner at your home. Or at my home with you doing to cooking. Either way works for me.
Hi Tammy I've been a fan for very long do try and I would love to try this to thank you for sharing God bless
Thank you for posting this new video…
Great memories of my grandma ❤️
I love coconut custard pie haven't tried to make one❤❤
I wonder if I could use less sugar and if I could go crustless with this. I need less calories and less carbs. ❤ it does look delicious ❤
WOW !!!! That was Really interesting. It looked like the perfect idea for breakfast with a good cup of coffee ☕️🦩
I wasnt expecting to see you. You perfected your pie
My Granny also would put meringue on her Egg Custard Pie. She'd put it on when it was almost done. Boys howdy!!! That made it SO good! What I wouldn't give for a piece of her pie, still slightly warm! It was heavenly!!
I will be trying this recipe I love custard anyways❤
Looks good
Only 1880 BC kids will remember that custard pie!
Eggs are a lot cheaper now, where I live. Plus a lot of local eggs for sale, cheap. Would be a great pie to try. I love custard anyway.
I use parchment paper under the pie weight beans, easier to remove❤

I made this a while back, a wonderful pie 🥰
My pecan pie recipe is a custard-type pie. I bet this would be good with some pecans in it. 😊
Great idea!
Love 💖💖
Thanks
Tammy I love that pot you put the mixture into on the stove.
I've never made egg custard pie with flour in it. Maybe that's why it separated into 2 layers...?
Looks delicious Ms. Tammy and Chris🎉. Those are beautiful eggs, esp.with the deep rich egg yolks. We have not had a good custard pie in years, thanks for the recipe 😋❤.

That is not the 1880 recipe I have not put it on there yet
You don't tell the temperature of the oven and when to add the mayo?

Thank you Tammy and Chris for sharing this custard pie with us 👏♥️🩵
MMMMM! GOOD!!! ❤
Hi from Indiana.
Oh my…. Do I love custard pie!! Not very many people make it any more that I am aware of. Maybe that has something to do with the price of eggs as well. My granny could sure make a good one too😊
This is the best custard pie recipe .

My Nana made custard pie. Her crusts could patch a sidewalk but her fillings were superb
@@sandralouth3103 My aunt Dorothy’s 💕🌸🎉pie crust was like cement but we never complained. She used to make the best raisin pie.
I would have added Vanilla Flavoring to this Custard Pie! I'm really surprised their Recipe didnt call for it , especially it being a Vintage! I always add Vanilla.... Thanks Tammy. God Bless. 🙏❤
That’s my favorite pie
Looks luscious! When you prepared the crust, did you dock the bottom of it? I may get brave and try this one. Almost a dozen eggs! Wow!
Beautiful pie. I wonder if the eggs should have been beaten more. The layers almost look like egg white/egg yolk.
I think it was the sugar. I think it had so much sugar in it that the sugar settled into the bottom and made it look more clear where the sugar was
I bet this is tasty with some fruit.
Wow! 3 cups of sugar! Looks like a very rich pie. 😊
It was!
My mother made egg pie, but I never knew it called for 9 eggs. I don't know if it's the same pie😊
If this custard pie is anything like those sour cream biscuits from a couple weeks back, well! I'm headed out back to squeeze a few extra eggs out of my chickens!!
I went to your website to get the recipe for 1880 Custard pie and it pulls up Apple Crumb. Do you know where the recipe for this pie is located?
I haven't typed it yet sorry I am behind
