I just got the denon avr‑x3700h and I want to hook up a separate amplifier like in this video does the avr receiver control the main volume or do you have 2 separate volumes
This is definitely a quality vs quantity thing but that dip at 116 is definitely a crossover/time alignment issue. The latest beta of REW has an alignment tool that will tell you the exact ms (distance with 1.1feet = 1ms) to delay between two speakers. With the crossover at the spot you want you would measure the subs with the speaker disconnected then measure the speakers with the subs powered off then pop them into the tool and click the align at cursor button and place your cursor at the crossover and boom you should have a (edit: distance to put into the avr). Might be tricky to align everything if your subs aren't all arriving at the same time so for that you should measure distance to the driver of each sub and pick the closest two and y split those and plug the other one directly into the second AVR spot.
Klipsch is coming out with a new soundbar 7.1.4 54” bar, with a 12” sub. Would you recommend this OSD system over the klipsch soundbar or any soundbar system in an open concept family room. Looking for something that won’t take over the room for the wife but wanting good sound. Any recommendations?
Hey, Simon from OSD here with an opinion. The new Klipsch sound bar is a really neat solution, I heard it at CES 2020 and it does create an enveloping sound field. It is somewhat power restricted and will not reach super loud levels without distortion and cannot really replace individual speakers placed in the right position for 'object-based' immersive formats. The neatest solution of all is to go in-ceiling and in-wall with identical speakers (similar format to our 11.3 system). There are really good in-wall speakers around $70.00 each. Yes, you need to power them with an appropriate receiver, and you need to run the wires (which may require professional help), and add a subwoofer or two. But you will end-up with a much better experience and a completely hidden system. As I say, just my opinion, take it with as many 'grains of salt' as you wish.

It all depends. I mean, you could buy a cheaper AVR, but so far, this is the cheapest way to get an 11 channel setup unless you buy a used AVR. You could get an AVR for $600 and then in like a few years get a used 11 channel AVR.
