Omg, someone who writes both imperial and metric units? Subscribed!
Yay!
VPman exactly my thoughts jajaja
Exactly!!
You're telling me that when I get my Model 3, I can drive all the way down the West coast on a roadtrip (~1k miles) for less than 20 bucks?? And also have autopilot and all that good stuff?? I can't wait for my Model 3!
Great video! Really enjoyed it. Beautiful family!
Gux how did you get those numbers. 172 miles of charge costs $6.39. With those calculations it costs about $37 to go 1000 miles. Simple math!
+alkhan2 14:01
Kim this helps put a smile on my face on the 1st day of spring as i look outside and its a blizzard and so cold
Thanks for adding metric!
Johan Otter agreed.... I just bought a used BMW i3 and constantly have to explain to people the cost of electricity vs cost of gas..get the look of 'deer in headlights'
Can't say enough about how much I continue to enjoy this channel, in all its artistic as well as practical aspects
Cats Paw yessssss great video! Been a long time subscriber, happy I came across this Chanel
Oak tree
I was going to say the exact same thing.. the great music, great video cuts and just overall feeling this channel and your videos give me. It's like a calm, soothing, fun and educational experience.
Even if it was free to charge a Tesla I don't like to drive one. Gas cars are million times more fun than a EV.
That was a little 16 minute vacation. Thanks.
Thanks, Matt! I loooove seeing the Model 3 road trip experience first hand in vlog style like this. And yes the glass roof alone is enough to get the premium package.
10:25 I totally understand your internal struggle Kim! I am at risk of pre-diabetes and every time I see something sweet, I can’t stop myself!
god knows how i found this channel but i’m glad i did, love tesla and watch loving this channel grow since the beginning🤧
I wish i found this one earlier
thanks for vid Kim... seeing the feasibility of the charging made me back away from cancelling my res for the model 3.. i actually pushed my date down from april-june to late 2018 for the AWD/Air Suspension and white seats!!!!!!!! (yes, your fav!! damn it i love those seats!)
That sunset beach time-lapse 😍
As a very unprofessional youtuber who takes no time to edit or put work in on my own channel, I am amazed at how professional and good your channel is. The sounds, the video quality. You videos would be interesting anyway because of the subject matter, but you have truly earned every subscriber you have paying attention to all these little details. I know it isn't easy. I wish you the best.
Thank you
Some of the shots are so beautiful, and I really like that you added the metric units for those of us not from America.
a lot of us in America [USA] use metric...like 100% that use money and have 10 fingers
"Kevin!!!" OMG the old school references keep em coming! Great video guys and yes it's been stupidly, ridiculously hot here in FL ALL MONTH LONG I'm so over it!
Long time watcher and always enjoy your videos. I just have to say though that over the last year the video and editing has gone from good to fantastic. Thanks for sharing your 'borrowed' Model 3 experiences with us.
First, let me say I love your videos and they make me really excited to get my Model 3. However, since you titled this video the TRUE cost of a Road Trip I thought I'd put a different spin on the fuel costs vs. a BMW 330i. You only had to pay $10.61 in supercharger fees because you took advantage of the destination and free chargers. Theoretically you could have stopped at free J1772 charging stations and paid $0 for electricity for the whole trip. Granted you would have spent the whole time at charging stations rather than the amazing condo by the beach. When you stopped at the Alabama super charger you paid $6.39 for 172 Miles (277KM) or $.037/mi ($0.023/KM) for electricity. Had you had to use supercharging for the whole trip you would have paid approx. $28.40 for electricity. That is still WAY better than the $91 for fuel for the BMW but not quite as good as $10.91. Of course neither of us talked about depreciation or wear and tear on the care but we can leave that to the accounting geeks out there. And one more point: even if the cost were equal, electricity is way better for the environment than gas and that is priceless.
Agree with Kim. You don't see the hubcaps when your driving.
Awesome video guys, waiting for my silver 3 to be delivered in the next couple of weeks. Used your code on the Model S I got in 2016, wish I could have used it on the three again. Keep up content like this, very entertaining.
The trees are oaks. "Quercus Virginiana." We call them "dancing oaks" here. Fun fact about where you were- Ruskin Park in Seaside. The developer's grandfather was clearing land with a bulldozer in the early days. He got to right about where Ruskin Park was, and he realized he didn't want to clearcut his property as he was doing. It left a sandy berm. And, that's why these little hills are there in the oaks.
I got a Tesla model 3 yesterday! Midnight silver, dark midnight wheels, white seating, and best of all, ITS MY FAVORITE CAR IVE EVER OWNED! I spend too much on cars... I also have 2016 Cadillac Escalade 2014 Tesla model X and my dad gave me a 2013 Cadillac Escalade for Christmas.
Like Tesla has the best road trip videos , period! Your kids are blessed that they have parents that want to take them on fun trips like this (the beach in February no doubt), and they will have beautiful video footage of each trip to enjoy the rest of their lives! And driving a Tesla on the trips is icing on the cake (yeah I know, don't say "ICE" lol !) that's why Like Tesla is the best Tesla channel and one if the best UA-cam channels! Great footage, great editing and great music too! You make us feel like we're on the trip with you! And that vacation property you rented, the bomb! Beautiful! Keep up the great work and every Like Tesla video is much anticipated! If you guys ever come through the Memphis Superchargers I'd love to meet you guys (me and my wife of course). ...
Thank you!
hey all,
Just subscribed and you all are amazing, not just as Tesla spokes people, but just as just regular people who do such outstanding work with a great mix of being a family and making a living.
I am super impressed with all your video and editing too. You all do do it all, travel, architectural, food, life style and being able to do all that shows just how talented you are. One of the greatest things is showing your wonderful family life in balance with the Tesla products. You bring great practical information, showing how it works in real life and that is what sells anything.
I live in South Fla and you really showcased our little bit of paradise to so many. As so many have said, thanks for making our day a little better from all you do.
Editing is on point! Great video.
Great video. 👍🏾. Bonus was seeing PCB again (I have a home there, but I’m stuck in Deutschland for work). Can’t wait to get back. We will have a Model 3 one day.
I have that same feeling like you, eventually I just forget about it and enjoy the journey. Thank you for sharing your Tesla experience.
that car interior is sooo clean and simple
You need to start your own reality channel. I’m getting my Model 3 non Tesla Owner in Ct in a few weeks. White/sport wheels.
Um this is their reality channel. Congrats on your Model 3! You're getting IMO the best car anyone has made so far. It's efficient, quick, good handling, modern, cleanly styled, practical, perfectly sized for most people, highly automated and upgradeable, etc.
Loanword Eggcorn Well, I meant for TV...she has a great personality and would fit the reality thing. I can’t wait...two years waiting and it’s about to happen!!😃
Very nice video, love the music and cinematography. My wife is so over our getting a Model 3, but she might sit through this video.
Silver looks so amazing... Wish they still offered it.
Cool to see my hometown featured. Glad you guys had fun! Still waiting on my model 3
Kim, I just watched this again...I think this is the most beautiful vid you guys have produced...congrats..I have 4 more days to wait before my M3 AWD delivery here in southern France...been waiting since 03/29/16!!! Thanks to your vids, they made the wait all worthwhile..come visit France !
I did not know that the car would give recommendations for speed like it did when you removed a charging stop, Very cool video. I live in Utah non-owner and cant wait to go for Fish and chips. In Astoria Oregon, Through the middle of scenic Oregon, Just for the Halibut!! :)
Love this! So well done. I like how you combine stats and practical info with the fun day-in-the life vibe. The perfect way to see what it's really like to drive these cars. Subscribed.
Great video! Those destination chargers saved money, being free. I was wondering if the model 3 attracted any crowds at parking stops? They are still pretty rare sight!
Awesome video! Loved watching your experience with the Model 3 and your time in Panama City Beach. I rented a 3 story property about 1.5 miles east of where you stayed back in January and February of 2014. That entire area is spectacular and I had the same wish to move there. The beaches are gorgeous. Thanks for bringing back some awesome memories and the great long distance review of the M3.
Beautiful scenery! Love your videos and content! Can’t wait until your Model 3 and new Model X come!!!
There is someone out in LA who makes hub cabs for the Model S and X. I met one of his customers once at a supercharger and that was a while ago. So not sure if they really went into full production with it. But I have seen it!
Actually living in germany, where the weather and also the culture is "cold" you dont realize how great life can be. Thanks for this inspiring video. I hope after college, to get a good job and move to either Florida or california.
Love your videos! Freaking editing masterpieces. The music choices and segments go so well together! You guys are awesome!!! Thank you for sharing and keep them coming.
Thank you!!
Made me even more anxious to get my model 3 come November annd take a road trip to Atlanta.
Very cool, I’m just a bit east of there in PCB. We eat at those food trucks in Seaside all the time. 👍
Beautiful video! Well Done! Great job sprinkling in the important stats too.
Suggestion: explain more how the Supercharger stops are combined with food and bathroom breaks (that everyone on a long road trip needs to take anyway). In principle everyone knows that, but it's very important to teach and show it.
I always have the feeling that I left something behind. Most of the times that feeling is true 👍😀
I thought there will be a joke showing that they left the kids behind :D
Great vid Kim, Mr. Kim! That beach house is a stunner! Looks like the overall fuel costs were close to: 1/3 that of a BMW 3 with the added no emissions or maintenance costs. Thanks!
Y'all some cool people low key
Love your channel guys and the "slice of life" episodes you continue to make that show real-life use of Tesla's !!!! Thanks for another amazing vide :)
Love it! We just took delivery of Scarlett (our red Model 3) a couple of weeks ago and are looking forward to our first road trip. All indications have been it will be really easy - AND economical. Sounds like your experience was. Thanks. I always enjoy your perspectives.
"I can't believe this is in the US". 10 seconds later a gigantic pickup truck drives by. Yes, that's definitely the US.
Electric pickup trucks will be next
Liked before watching because i knew it was going to be good
I watched thousands of Tesla related UA-cams, your video is the first one I want to Like and Add to Watch Again Later even before I finish watching it. Very nice. I agree, your family should move into this house. Everyone's dream house.
In case nobody has mentioned yet (and I’m not scrolling 500+ comments), those trees are called live oaks! I’m from Pensacola, just down the highway from Panama City & Seaside. Aren’t they gorgeous?!
It feels good to know that somewhere close to me has Tesla chargers and that my idols have been there!! I live in Montgomery, Al. You guys were so close!!
What's wrong with people that are giving you guys a thumbs down? I guess just jealous. Well I am too but am enjoy the rides you're giving.
I am running on a treadmill. Thanks to your video and editing skills plus the music you chose I feel like I'm in Summer. Thank you for taking me along with you. Your shills made my daily jog a whole like more enjoyable.
Omg the last time I went to Seaside I saw the charger you guys went to and was so happy to see a Tesla at it! Seaside is an amazing town and next time you guys should visit the Wharf in Destin!
The way I enjoyed viewing your videos it just wow, so light and effortless great entertainment. I forget why I came here, there’s so many aspects it wouldn’t fit in a comment format, thx!!
...just to stay objective when comparing cost of fueling of the BMW 330 to TM3, please include total cost of electricity, coz $91 still much > $25, and yes I understand you didn’t pay this whole amount directly )...I liked your video a LOT!
If by "total cost of electricity" you mean the price Tesla pays, that would be hard to determine. But they are charging for Supercharging probably at a not-profit price, so the price you pay is probably pretty close to the actual cost, including infrastructure costs.
In any case, due to physics and approximate 3x greater efficiency of EVs, it costs about 1/3 as much to operate an EV as a fossil car. EVs are also mechanically much simpler so the maintenance costs are lower than fossil cars too. Total cost of ownership of EVs is lower over several years.
*Only 10$ for 1200 km?* Wow that's a really cheap cost! One more reason to buy a Tesla!
And much lower maintenance costs on top of the low operating costs.
No, one more reason to buy any EV
Not clear. Prices for other kinds of chargers vary, many are higher than superchargers. (Of course, home charging is all the same).
Tony Stark battery replacement is $3k every 5 years...if you’re trying to doom and gloom use facts please. There also no oil, no belts, no fluids, and no brakes needed
Tesla batteries degrade very slowly if you take care of them a little bit. You can easily last 10-15 years with a battery, and have 90% of the range in the end.
I was away from your channel for a few months after changing Google accounts, and did not know you already had a 3. Congrats! Just ordered mine last week.
I've been waiting for this! So delightful!
Thanks Mark!
This house is great, I am totally going to book a week! I never knew this was available. It is great to have You guys travel and show us GREAT places to visit! I hope the owner gives you a deal on this rental!
burlingame87 it's like $7k for a week
@@anbuhd9479 oh.
When are you getting your new Model X? Can't wait for that video!!
This would be a perfect spring break get away
Love the video. Up in Lynnwood Washington ~160mi from home. Don't need Destination Charging because they have a Urban Suupercharger in Lynnwood. LOVE long range trips.. "Tesla-ing".
We love that area. Lynwood is around the corner from our hometowns in WA state!
I knew you had folks in PNW, around here. It's grown crazy in the past 10 years my wife is considering moving up here for retirement, possibly Bremerton. She loves Kayaking. The Model X doesn't haul Kayaks too well :(.
Great video and extremely useful information. This is just what I'm looking for as a prospective Model 3 owner!
nice plug for Rosemary Beach and the Pearl hotel. The Caribbean looking community u were driving through is Alys Beach
Clean, elegant beach home. Practical. Beautiful. Dang.
// So, you rent the entire multi-floor accommodations? Slick.
My fear on these cars are this so say you only charge it at home you plug it in to charge it then your bill comes in then u find your energy bill jumped like a lot
No.... it costs $40 a month for us to drive 2k miles.
i just find it kinda funny how a car brand can attract so many fans.
It's not a car brand. That is your first mistake. Thanks for watching.
I absolutely love Seaside and Watercolor
I live in Atlanta too and was wondering if I got a Tesla (far in the future) if I could still make beach trips, this answered it perfectly.
In USA 170 Miles - 19 $ with a BMW , in Romania it's like 60$ at current gas prices...
That has to be one of the coolest houses I've ever seen!
The front trunk shouldn't be called a "Frunk", because the rear trunk isn't called a "Runk". A trunk is named so because early cars actually had a travel trunk strapped to the rear. So with that in mind, a trunk is a trunk no matter where it's located on a vehicle.
Excellent video. Hope lots of people see it. Thanks for sharing.
The home alone reference was on point 😂 awesome video guys! Loved it.
That video was truly an excellent treat! I felt like I was on vacay!! Thanks for sharing.
You guys in the US should come to New Zealand During the Winter (US) For X-mas! Sunny weather, nice beaches! Although we use Celsius & Kilometers!
That beach and apartment looked absolutely beautiful.
Cool video. It doesn't actually make sense to intentionally run down the battery before charging, though.
The battery only charges faster when the battery is lower. So if you would have arrived at 50% it would have taken (just as an example) 30 mins to charge to full.
If you run the battery to 40%, it will charge faster from 40-50% and take 5 minutes. However, 50-100% will still take exactly the same time, 30 mins.
So in this example, running the battery down just made your charge take 5 minutes longer...
Classy production guys. Top job!
You guys also should put music in description that you use in making these amazing videos.
Great vlog! I'm down in the clearwater beach area. It's nice, but spring break time here is so jam packed.
You've got great sense of humor. Cheers from Spain!
Great Video, nice places, nice Family, nice car. Best wishes from germany
Beautiful family, beautiful video. Wish you all the best! from Russia with love
loved the video quality, thinking of taking tesla model 3 soon out for road trip.
Wonderful model 3 road trip video! Thank you for sharing!😎
Did you notice the Prius drivers smiling and waving at you while you where standing around the charge station? :)
Always love 💕 and enjoy your simple short elegant videos, you really know how to make the Tesla look awesome in the videos, keep up the great job !
👍👍👍
You represent the american dream to me continue like that it is really motivating.
That Home Alone input, BEAUTIFULLY EXCECUTED! I laughed my ass clean! :D xD
Also: No, the charging thing is incorrect, it's just that the first 40-50% charge faster, just visualize a pressurized tank.
I couldn't wait for this vid to come out
10:04 We wish, kiddo. We wish.
Great editing and very relaxing video. Thanks guys!
My Honda Odyssey cost: 280-300 miles = ~ $50 at $3.09 per gallon
Thanks a lot. Can't wait til my turn. I will get the Silver too, but stock wheels. What do u guys think, Should I wait for Dual motor or 2 wheel is fine? I live in San Diego, CA. not live in Cold /snow state... If buy All wheel have to wait longer and may lost that tax back. Thanks all.
Hie Do AWD will be available soon, I would suggest you wait a bit more. If you have the money AWD is a no-brainer really. Standard wheels offer better range and less bumpy ride.
Of course unless you don't NEED AWD.... Nice to haves aren't absolutes.
My God that place is GORGEOUS. You are SO lucky Kim! Really enjoy your videos as the production is of the highest quality. Oh aye, the Model 3 is nice too :D
Those beach montages where cool and awesome 👌 👍
I wish that, video would never have ended!😍😘
Thanks for sharing the review and your fun trip to Florida with your family. Enjoyed it. I am going to be the next Tesla 3 owners :)
This is a great channel which I always enjoy watching. Definitely the best Tesla channel as it gives the facts but with vlogging as well What do you think the depreciation of the Tesla Model 3 would be over the life of the car and do you think the car will still be as amazing compared to other newer vehicles in the future?
