The better question is what can't you keep in that size tank. I would stick to fish 2ft and under (with the exception of eels)...Giant Gourami, Peacock bass (any type besides temensis), pikes...the list goes on
Thats a nice size tank for a red devil or midas cichlid, or a trimac; those will defintly have the best personality. You could also try a carpintis cichlid, an oscar cichlid or a pink tilapia. People over look tilapia but they can be very cheap if you buy them from a farm and they are very smart and get a decent size too
I’m hopefully getting a 125 gallon soon and I’m gonna do 2 balas for now and 2 oscars, don’t know what other fish yet, but do you think I could put any sort of freshwater eel with these fish
How many Central/ Southern American cichlids (assuming 7-12 in) can you keep in a 125. And how many in a 180 or 220.... I have been pondering the idea of a tank in this size range as a predator tank. Thank You in advance
The Burmese clouded archer (videos on my channel) is a full freshwater archer fish. NO salt required. This species is fully isolated from the ocean and are great alternative to brackish archers. They have similar body shape and overall behavior and they only get 6 inches. So in a 125 you could keep probably up to 9 of them. They are a little more expensive than most archers but always worth the money. Tankmates can be pretty much anything that is not a bully (I keep mine with semi aggressive cichlids like severum, geophagus, etc.) And also will look great with any schooling fish too big to eat (probably 2+ inches to be safe with an adult Burmese archer) sooo Congo tetras, silver dollars, roseline sharks, giant danios, etc. along with the listed cichlids.
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS yes it’s a very convenient fish because it can go with a lot of tankmates! Basically anything bigger than 2 inches that won’t bully them. But with them being rare they do tend to be pretty expensive but gradually getting better. I’ve never seen them in a pet store (my local pet store that gets all my exotic fish had never even heard of them) so you probably can only find them online. I have multiple videos on my profile talking about them if you want more info! They’d definitely look great with some of your tanks if you were interested!
Out of all of these, the Oscar is the one I keep because of how common they are and also because of their personalities.Mine is very interactive, always following me every time I pass by the tank and is always eager to eat during feeding time, even leaping at te food even before it touches the water. It is supposed to be a Tiger Oscar but its colors look more like that of a Wild Oscar because the red colors on its body is a lot more subdued.A friend of mine suggested to feed it color-enhancing food but I declined because I actually like to keep its colors more like that of a wild oscar.
That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't add the archers with the cichlids. I don't know if they'd hold up well and settle in like the mono has. I'm thinking more a separate tank for them and maybe move the mono in with them, my only worry would be is that the mono has lived with the africans about 4 years now and it's become pretty big and aggressive and it's kind of an asshole at times,i fear it might start throwing its weight around with less aggressive fish.
When I picked up my (30) gallon tall tank this summer for free I now realize the large fish in it was an Albino Oscar. The fish had NO Room to move and had lots of algae bloom. I really was not a fan of it's face. It did seem to have a sweet "personality". I made a 50% water change and it got swim bladder and that was the end of him. Your sharks are nice looking. I just mentioned to my daughter that if she gets married in Israel I wanna go to the renowned aquarium.
Great video really appreciate your hard work and the time you spend editing very professionalism. Don't remember seeing your Snook would like to learn more about them as always can't wait for your next video.
Thanks, I wanted to add the snook to the list be their potential 18" marks makes them too big for a 125g in the long stretch, you may be able to get a few years in a 125g though. I'll have videos coming as my baby green bay snook grows
I collected the wood from nearby streams and also some I found washed up on the shore. The rocks where collected locally as well from the side of a mountain
Thank you, yes the lenticulta look awesome. Mine doesn't show max color like the ones on google (I think that extra red comes from breeding), but still mine is enjoyable
One tank I wish I had done over the years? A tank of many species of Leporinus..they come in stripes, spots, all colors..with related Anostomus and the many pencilfish. They also like a stream tank..big pump for the day..slower at night.
Great Video !. Its been a rough week.. Moved my juvenile cichlids to my 150 and my Oscar just ate my baby jag the next day 😔.. What's your opinion on Cuban cichlid?
Thanks, that's crazy! I'm always mesmerized by the color pattern on my Cuban cichlid, but we are lucky this fish doesn't get too big...its very aggressive! Mine will fight fish twice its size..and win. Beautiful fish, but consider tank mates wisely, bigger tank mates are best
Aquarium coop had toxotes blythii, a completely freshwater species of archer that grows 6 inches and lives in Burma. Common names include clouded archerfish and Burmese archerfish. A very cool and awesome species that needs to be represented more in the hobby. I think I might have seen someone else commenting about this awesome fish!
I have a 6ft foot 150 and I’m STUGGLING to decide what I want! I want a single, tank boss type predator, that can be in there with the 2 Oscar I already have. Help lol
A big boss type cichlid likely wouldn't tolerate your Oscars unfortunately. You would have to go with an oddball like a flagtail prochilodus or an African Tiger scat which is just as interactive as those big cichlids but without the intense aggression
G’day mate that convict tank is pumping like the rest so cool. I just found my female convict and male Jack Dempsey laying in my 8ft with other big cichlids not quite the Predator like yours
I think they get too big long term for a 125 gallon. But general care...they're aggression is simalar to peacock bass and oscars...not crazy, but can be territorial. Will eat anything that can fit into its mouth
Well I'm keeping a male jaguar cichlid in my tank who is absolutely aggressive... he looks really cool swimming around. And I got a bigger oscar in his tank... big mistake bruh that jaguar tore the oscars fins off and some skales. I brought the oscar to a friend who had wanted it and it's doing fine there. I never thought my jag is gonna go at that massive cichlid just like a piranha dude... The name of my jag is "Alpha" Strange givin fishes names but he earned that name for REAL!
I kept a female Jag for over 12 yrs. She grew up with some other fish and didn't bother them. Couldn't put anything new in there though, they would be history
Hey DWS Darius, how's your datnoid doing? Please make an update video also how long have you had it and is it in full fresh, since I've heard stories of silver datnoids dying prematurely to disease in full freshwater. Great content as always!
Thanks, my datnoid is still fine...about 5 inches. I've never heard about datnoids needing brackish water, I'll have to read up on that myself. I'll try to get a video, but mine is so shy, very tough getting video of it
A lot of people don’t keep redbelly piranha because they think they want them until they actually have them and find out they’re boring unless they’re eating I’d rather have bucktooth tetra💯
Still a great video bro. Decided to go central and south american cichlids in my 125. I've got a 12" oscar, a convict, blood parrot, jack dempsey, turquoise severum, a few lace cats. Got a peacock in there too who I rescued but seems to be doing really well. Been trying to get a green terror & salvini but no where near me ever has em and ordering fish online is so expensive.
Thank you, yes I did some experimenting with this video with a new editor...I like to edit from my computer because doing this with my phone on such a small screen would drive me crazy!
Here's a question: What would you put as a solo fish in a 20 gallon? And don't say a betta. Something mean, like imagine a tiny wolf fish. Get the idea? Go! :-)
depends if your willing to do the water changes every week and buy a big enough filter to turn that water over at least 7 times per hour. Can you? Yes. Should you? Well that's on you buddy.
I wouldn't do it, Oscars can grow to 14"...quickly so the footprint of the tank needs enough space for them to turn around. I'd say a 75g is minimum in my opinion
Just wanted to say you are like the only fish channel that actually shows fish outside the usual with actual knowledge. Well done. Hi from australia.
Awesome video as always. Ngl the beat in the back, I was digging it.
Thank You!
Nice suggestions. I’m soon upgrading my fish in my 75 to an 150.
Can we get stocking ideas for a 8 foot long by 3 foot deep by 2 foot tall iv got a growout fire eel in a 125g moving to a 360g thanks
The better question is what can't you keep in that size tank. I would stick to fish 2ft and under (with the exception of eels)...Giant Gourami, Peacock bass (any type besides temensis), pikes...the list goes on
Hello mate.Do you think that I can keep a mota pair in 100 gallon all by themselves?Cool channel though.
Thanks, yes I think a 100 gallon can do
I was wondering if you had any ideas for a single larger cichlid to have in a 4 ft 120 gallon tank? Something to will not be so shy! Thank you!
Thats a nice size tank for a red devil or midas cichlid, or a trimac; those will defintly have the best personality. You could also try a carpintis cichlid, an oscar cichlid or a pink tilapia. The silver dat is a great choice for a 125! Great content as always, brother!
Thank You!
I’m trying to find some tank mates for my archers , im thinking of getting a fresh water moray eel
Interesting choice!
I’m hopefully getting a 125 gallon soon and I’m gonna do 2 balas for now and 2 oscars, don’t know what other fish yet, but do you think I could put any sort of freshwater eel with these fish
As long as you buy the eels as adult they should be okay together, juveniles may be eaten by the oscars
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS ok thank you
Predators some of my favorites 👌👍

Cichlids 7-12"...in a 125g probably 6. A 180g could probably fit 10 add maybe 2 more in a 220

That's awesome, yes I like the natural look of Oscar's too
I think butterfly fish, Amazon leaf fish, frog mouth catfish, bumblebee catfish, driftwood catfish, gulper catfish and spiny eels are good choices too.
also i believe “predatory” is the right word, not predatorial. i’m lovin the channel btw you got alot of good stuff
Nice bit info and a great selection darius... I'm considering some of them archers in my next tank.
Thank you, yes I think archers and mono's like the one you have are great combo
That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't add the archers with the cichlids. I don't know if they'd hold up well and settle in like the mono has. Awesome top 10 braddah appreciate the knowledge love that silver Datnoid much love and aloha 🤙🏽🐠🤙🏽
Thank you, yes those datnoids are beast as adults
do you no a cool predatory catfish for a 90gallon aquarium? i had a albino asian redtail in a 40gallon but i sold him because he did get to big.
4 Lined pictus catfish can grow to 12-14"...they look awesome too
been waiting on this one.
I should have a few rolling in the weeks to come
BTW this was filmed on 10/15/19...today the convict babies are all gone

Yes

Yes it is
What would you say the growth rate for the silver dat
SLOOWWW!!! The first year from hatching they grow to about 4 inches, then they slow down to1-2" a year
