Lol I used to watch u when I was 22...now I'm 29. It took me 8 years to complete my accounting degree. I'm back here again. God bless u. I now have a job..I graduated last year. Thank you for everything
You explain this so much quicker and clearly than my professor. Thank you and I fully support you if you want to keep making videos like this. Its helpful
Class of 2020...waiting to graduate virtually 🤣🤣🤣🤣... But decided am going to leave quarantine with all skills for my accounting job... Nice video... Have learnt alot
i am so thankful for this i am Financial Analyst and i really need allot of Excel advance and shortcuts please do stop teach us :) your so much help!!!!! highly appreciated
OMG thanks so much for this. I just started full time as an audit associate and didn't follow along well with the excel training we were given. I was literally just thinking about how Ill probably need to watch a tutorial on pivot tables and v lookups, then saw ur video!! I really was not in the mood to watch a lecture on excel, but yours feels like I'm just watching another fun (non work related) youtube video. :)
i’m a newly admitted accounting student and wanted to start teaching myself excel. i took a computer class before, but we didn’t go too in depth on excel and i know that’s where pretty much all accounting data goes. i thought i knew a pretty decent amount about excel, but i was so wrong! my jaw dropped when i found out that i could freeze headers at 5:26 😭 thank you so much for this video! so very helpful!!
I know you did this 5 years ago but this is so helpful as I'm not that good with excel. Normally with me using Excel I just have to keep track of what's already been started
Due to pandemic, it's hard to cope up with my study and the things I need to learn about my course but I don't wanna graduate unequipped with at least basic knowledge so I'm here in youtube.
I feel really good about how much I know. I currently do bookkeeping and know how to do most of these. I am a sophomore in college and I haven't started my Acct. classes yet. I am so bummed. Feel like its gonna be hard(time consuming) getting my BBA. Thanks for the extra knowledge!
One thing I got repeatedly told off by my senior is rounding issue U need to use the round formula to make absolutely sure the decimals are properly dropped off and then u fix the rounding Simple displaying 2 or 3 decimal places won't do
Thanks for the useful video! Definitely using these for my job! Also, loving the FREINDS reference 😂 PIVOTTTTT. Definitely one of the funniest scenes along with Phoebe imitating the bagpipes
LOL I'M GEEKING OUT OVER THIS VIDEO. I love excel hahahaha. Learning Excel as part of my business pre-req was the one class that I found extremely useful after college. Your work life is so much easier when you know shortcuts, formulas, and pivot tables. I still love using Excel to organize my personal life.
Hey, I just started out as a audit Trainee associate at KPMG,, and I been struggling with excel so much,, but within first few minutes of your video I learned just what I been lookin for. I'm gonna be so much faster at tomorrow at work. Thank you million times. 😊
@Wraith Wraithin the class room we spend lots of time making balance sheets and income statements. But when you go to work place, you won't be given to make those until you become a senior
I’m about to move into a new house and found your move video, I recently started a new data mgmt job and feel so Blessed for this awesome guide to Excel formulations-thank you!
Thank you! I've been watching so many videos online about excel, since its one of my weaknesses. This was really helpful. 2 more semesters before I get my B.S in Accounting!
Happy to see someone doing something like me like care about sheet to make a copy and using shortcuts but I think I'm doing the same job at an advanced level as I'm an accountant of UK clients. and I think I'm doing the same thing with the easy and smart way I can teach if you want dear.
Oh my goodness, I'm only a few minutes to this video & I love your style & presentation!! You get to the point and are so enjoyable to listen to & follow. I can't wait to dive into other videos. I've worked in accounting for 4 years and am always looking to work smarter and not harder. Thank you & you have new subscriber :)
great video. just one suggestion, instead of using shift+down arrow every time, you can insert table, named it, and its easier now to select any column.
HI Stephie Mills, Can you discuss the create and reconcile transactions in excel? a. Money spent on credit cards b. Money out from checking Thanks in advance. 🌹
Thank you! I plan on doing super super basic then move to more advanced in the coming months! I don't really use many other softwares other than office products, at least softwares I could share.
great effort! Ive recently started to study accounting and i was lost as to how the formulas worked. This gave me the answers to everything i was hoping for thanks so much!
Lmao..pivot!!! Good times. Great Tutorial. Please continue making videos like this. Also, if you could attach your excel worksheets so that we can practice along side with you, that would definitely be a step up .
Thank you for creating this video. I appreciate how you want to impart knowledge you have in this field of study. You are an awesome person! You make it interesting to learn skills such as this one. May I ask if you happen to use quickbooks or any other accounting software, and may you share how to use it? If no, is excel the simplest one to use?
Awww thank you for the kind words love!! I do use a couple of general ledger/ financial reporting tools but I wouldn't be able to share since it's my company's information. I actually have never used quickbooks before but I have used peachtree. Excel is definitely what we use most though as auditors outside software provided by company or accounting firm.
GIRL. I haven't finished watching the video yet, but I just want to say (before I forget lol) YOU'RE HELPING ME SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!! lol I need to study all this for a new AP job because I've been putting it off for forever...and I remembered that you had made a video so I ran straight over here to find it. I freakin love you!!!!
I love this video - super useful since I just started. I’ve been subbed for over a year now and have loved all your advice and vlogs. Thank you Stephie!
Thank you for the content, can you do a video explaining tax coding, if I’m not mistaken I saw tht revenue is 100’s deductibles are 200’s, balance sheet 400’s and so on, thank you
Hi Steph. Is it possible to create a journal entry and automatically convert or transfer the entries into Ledger T-accounts? For example all cash transaction will be put on a cash T-account. And they will be classified in Debits and Credits. I am having trouble doing it with Vlook up. It only shows one amount everytime. XD
Wow! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial. I absolutely love your videos since I declared my Accounting major! I have an interview Monday for a regional CPA firm as an Audit Intern next summer. I’m so excited yet nervous because I really want this position. Do you have an advice for intern for interviews Thank you so much! XOXO
would you mind if you add your file in description to be an exercise? because i find in internet and it is hard to find exercise. Thank you before and great video
Thank you, Stephie, for your instruction. Did you happen to have a series for accountant and auditors? I recently have a job as an internal auditor internship for a tech company, and I really want to get better. Again, thank you so much.
So happy I found this video... everything is simple, clear, and to the point I'm still a freshman at my college, but I am definitely gonna learn this now and save this video for future reference !:)
this is a great tutorial, i have been using excel at my jobs for over 7 years. i want to do some tutorials also, covering pivot tables and vlookups or how to utilize the free templates in excel such as ones for budgeting
What version of excel are you using? This is not like mine, but i am still on XP. I have a question for you as you really seem to know what you are doing. Is it possible to work in reverse, so the current numbers are at the top. What i want to do is start at the bottom, say you have £1000 (I'm in the UK) then above that, say i spend £3500, i am now -£2500. Can excell do this with minus numbers? If i then put in £4000 in my account, it should now show + £1500 etc, just like a bank statement would, but like an online statement, the balance would always be at the top of the page instead of at the bottom like in your example, i also want it to show a minus figure if it is in minus figures. Is this even possible in excel? The idea is that i can just insert a new line at the top of the spreadsheet and this would continue forever, so the current balance is always at the top. Thanks in advance. Also as i'm new to this, is a column going up and down and a row going left to right, or have i got it the wrong way round?
like i found other resources as well to get into the Excel learning do you know of any websites that like can test your skills in doing this learning i know that practice makes perfect when it comes to trying new things to learn
Journal entries are typically entered into the accounting system. Excel is often used to calculate what the amounts would be for the JE and to support it. Also many companies will have a tab with the journal entry (linking to the calculation in another tab in Excel) and use it to either upload into the accounting system or enter directly into the accounting system. So yes, accountants and auditors use Excel majority of the time.
Thanks for the small look inside of accounting. I think I will do private accounting as a career. Do you think going for a cpa or masters would be worth it as a private accountant?
