I remember years ago when you were in Whitehorse and mentioned that Condor flies there from Frankfurt once a week during the summer. And then your following video explaining how popular of a summer destination Canada is for Germany, which completely surprised me! Glad you were able to finally take this trip, you inspire me to try out long and unique routes like this.
Well, for Germans which want to tour the Yukon it is the shortest (10 hrs) and cheapest way to get there. In the 1990ies there were 3 flights/ week from FRA to Whitehorse from June - August operated by Condor.
same for us Swiss people, we're heading off to Canada quite often too...also a lot move to Canada forever, when Switzerland just get's a lil too small haha
Not only is Yukon a popular destination for Germans, but the most spoken unofficial language, one that isn't English nor French, in Yukon is German (with over two percent in a 2011 census stating it as their mother tongue)! "Fühlen Sie sich bei uns ganz einfach zuhause" at 16:44 means "Simply feel at home with us", which some Germans chose to do, and it makes sense that they'd want to keep this flight going for the Germans living there as their connection to their homeland too. And I can't blame them, Yukon is quite a gorgeous place. Even though you didn't get the airplane model you wanted, the A320 with the retro-style Condor livery is still pretty neat. A neat souvenir for a neat and unique flight like this one
I flew Whitehorse to Frankfurt Aug.23. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I also took their A330neo from Fra to Las green strpes and all. Loved the new plane smell. Premium economy and window seats every time.
When I was growing up in Alaska, I took the Condor route from Anchorage-Frankfurt round-trip. It was easily the most fun I’ve ever had on a flight. I really enjoyed the Arctic views, great food, and comfortable flight. Thanks for the throwback!
As a German myself I've flown Condor a few times, however only on the A321 and the 757-300. And maaan, how I will miss the 767. By the way, if you ever travel to Germany (the western part, to be precise) you should give the visitor's terrace at Cologne/Bonn airport a try, you can get some amazing shots when the right runway is in use. Great video!
Ive been to frankfurt once on a stopover to Graz in 2018.Lovely airport. At the time the screens were showing these UA-camrs who did football tricks shots at the airport. Ps.On the way back from Graz there was an observational deck which is neat
@@Randomgirl866 Well, not everyone lives in Frankfurt or Munich. Germany is quite large and Lufthansa is really expensive. I prefer to fly a 757 out of my home airport rather than travelling to a different airport to sit onboard a normal A320. Anyways.
Cool, on my flight from CPH-LAX I was also able to see the queen Elizabeth islands but it was in February so everything was covered in snow and ice. Magical landscape. Never thought it would look like that during summer
Another great video! Condors visits here to Whitehorse are very welcomed. Interesting thing is we would fly the Condor flight crew between Whitehorse and Anchorage on chartered Dornier 228 just for the crew. Great views on that flight flying over Kluane National Park.
I am absolutely blown away that Condor of all airlines has been flying this route for over 20 years! Wow! Since I am a Boeing fan and the 767s are quite rare and slowly being swapped for newer/ more efficient planes I would have been so excited to fly one across the ocean! Have you ever been to YellowKnife?!?! Very similar in size and lots to do and see with beautiful views!!!! The 767 is a beautiful aircraft btw!! What a treat thank you for sharing! New subscriber here!
Flown Condor a few times and love choosing them whenever they are available. I think the value for the money is typically unbeatable and their catering is great!
Absolutely loved this video! The views of the rugged barreness of the high artic are stunning! You are so lucky to have been able to take this flight! I remembered the video you made of why this route exists. Didn't realize it was three years ago! Thanks!
Wow, totally enjoyed this trip report! Views are magnificently amazing! It always puzzles me why a lot of people sitting next to the window quite often have their window shades closed. They are missing wonderful scenery from the air.
I really appreciate your coverage of unique flights like this and also regional airlines like Air North. Your videos are a delight to watch and I love seeing them pop into my notifications inbox. Also, hello from Whitehorse! I hope you enjoyed your second visit!
A very well narrated video. I enjoyed watching it, I even felt your excitement and enthusiasim throughout the flight. I was part of the Condor family, having flown as a Purser for more than 20 yrs on the B767. Your video brought me back wonderful memories. Thanks for appreciating Condor and its product. Merry Christmas ! 🙂
Your videos are always so well done an I appreciate that you don't have music or talk over the take-off and landing segments. So many others do and it really takes away from the enjoyment.
It looked like a fairly smooth flight and the food did look very tasty. My first Polar flight was on SAS DC-7C from Anchorage to Copenhagen. We departed in a snow storm and the views were mostly covered with clouds and after 14 hours and 3 meals. served on pillows on your lap, we landed in Stavanger, Norway because of morning fog in Copenhagen but we soon took off for the 1hr 45min flight to end our journey. Thanks for the memories! Happy Holidays!
OMG! I went to Whitehorse to teach a dance class more than 10 years ago. I flew from San Francisco to Vancouver, then Vancouver to Whitehorse. I was there for 5 days, the most incredible 5 days I've spent traveling. I hope to go back there again someday.
Flown the Thomas cook/Condor 757-300s and 767-300s so many times.. 🤩 😊 some of my best flights, in 2019 (June) I was flying home from Spain to Manchester UK the crew loved my pilots uniform with the badges too and the pilot sent through the cabin crew to me a chocolate bar and gave me a postcard with their names, he also put on the overhead screens our airspeed and altitude and had me visit him after landing I was sat over the wing on the A321 but felt like I was first class
I work at a cabin property in jasper, and northern Canada is a HUGE tourist attraction. One of our guests flew to Whitehorse and drove down to jasper for a week, going to Banff for a week and then flying home thru Calgary.

I can say this Alex you got great service on that airline in premium economy and the view from your window was amazing,I didn't think how beautiful white horse could be.
I’ve flown Condor from Phoenix to Frankfurt and back in 2023. I was worried when I read reviews on travel sites with 1 star reviews, but I had a great time on board, good food, very professional cabin staff. The 767 was excellent, my favorite widebody. Coming back I flew on the 330-900 which wasn’t as comfortable with less legroom. I was so impressed I’m flying them this year also, even paying $300 more than deals on BA.
19:27 - that picture bring me some memories... I miss working in the 767 so bad! What a GREAT review! And thank you very much for NOT speeding up the take off and the landing footage! Good job!
If I am not mistaken, Whitehorse was one of the Canadian airports where flights from Asia were diverted to on September 11 since flights from outside the U.S. either had to return or divert to Canada
Just found your channel a couple of months ago and i'm absolutely hooked with your content. I used to dream about being a pilot when I was a kid, and got interested in the world of aviation. My dream got lost somewhere along the way but watching your vids truly takes me back and makes my day a whole lot better. Thanks Alex.
The condor model you got in pretty sure should be the correct livery as they done an A320 A/c in the retro livery, just as they did the more modern retro livery on the B767
Amazing Alex it's nice to see 767s still flying around, most boeing aircraft have been phased away in my country apart from the 787. Really great video.
What a fantastic aviation experience! I always seek out B767 and A330 when going long haul because of the 2-3-2 / 2-4-2 configuration in economy. the 3-3-3 and 3-4-3 are just incredibly uncomfortable. I remember when the 757 and 767's were introduced. I can't believe they've been around well over 30 years now. Life is a blur sometimes.
Great Video. We took this flight in June this year with the D-ABUM in premium economy. Love the views over Greenland and the approach to Whitehorse with more great views.
Given that I live nowhere near either Frankfurt or Whitehorse I'll likely never take this flight. But you had me looking up prices anyway! Thanks for this look at such a unique route!
its so intersting to see the great service that Condor offers as this airline is not so very well known in Germany. Everyone knows the name but most people think its a low cost and simple vacation airline. But I see they have a great product and they are doing well with keeping rather old aircrafts well in shape. If they would allow their cabin crew intercating proactive with youtubers this would make great promotion for them.
The best open air viewing deck I have been to is at ZRH. Complete with restaurant, children’s play area and oodles of viewing angles. It is open to the public.
Great video. Appreciate the detailed cabin tour, amenity kit, and close up of the food. Thank you for the time put into filming, editing, and sharing with us.
Thanks for the tour across Northern Canada, never have seen that part of the world and you erased my thoughts that it was all flat up to the Arctic Ocean, you corrected my understanding; there are mountains way up there.Again thanks.
Visiting the cockpit after the flight is always worth it. After my last flight in February I got into the cockpit and spoke to the pilots as ground staff yelled at me to get out😂😂
Great video! My wife and I took the narrow gauge train from Skagway to Carcross, and there was a bus to Whitehorse only about an hour away, unfortunately we didn't have time to do visit there. I lived in Vancouver in the 1970's but never got around to visiting the far north. One thing I've learned during my two million miles of travel, Germans are everywhere! They love to travel!
The observation deck in Terminal 2 (D-E) is much larger and offer a much better view and it’s also in the land side of the terminal so people can still enjoy it even when they’re not flying.
Besides the click-bait of "STRANGEST" I liked that video. Thanks for it! My "strangest" transatlantic flight was LHR to YYT because it was operated with an A319
I bet that salt and pepper shaker was made intending for it to be taken. I worked for Wardair Canada in the 1980's and the salt and pepper shakers we had on our flights were designed for people to take instead of pocketing our branded cutlery or Royal Doulton place settings.
Excellent video, Alex! And another memorable and rare trip under your belt. When I lived in Halifax, we flew Condor 3x to Frankfurt over the years, always on the 767-300. Great service every time. It was always an appreciated convenience to conclude a European trip with a direct flight back to YHZ. (Nice angle on the take-off; noticed the 2 AC 777's and the Dreamliner lurking on the apron). FRA offers great, not expensive driving tours of the around the airport, including the apron and runways - well worth experiencing. Thumbs up from YLW.
I took a business class flight with Condor from Toronto to Frankfurt a few years back. I wasn't much more than an economy flight on Air Canada, and we got almost lay flat seats with comfy blankets and pillows for a good night's sleep. On the way back I was chatting with the purser in the forward kitchen, when the captain came out from the flight deck and made us both espressos with a hand pumped coffee machine has was carrying.
Great views on the bus to the plane! Last time I was in Frankfurt, we loaded on to the bus and it must have been at least 15 minutes from the plan to the terminal! We were rushing to try to make a connection, and I was too stressed to enjoy the views... Regrets!
Thanks for flying and reviewing the route Alex. I lived up in Whitehorse in the late 90's when the flights were first introduced, and you're absolutely right that Germans love the Yukon. I worked with a web development company in Whitehorse that dealt with a few of the Wilderness Tourism guides, one of whom was catering to the Germans on those flights. Good times... Until those flights commenced, all the luggage handling equipment was the conveyor belt trucks that piece-loaded into bellies of 737's and the occasional A320 (flown by Canada 3000...Remember them?). Containerized luggage simply wasn't needed at the time because none of the planes used them. Until Condor started flying that is, and that spurred a few upgrades to the Whitehorse airport - runway extensions, container handling equipment, etc. Even a terminal expansion after I left apparently because there was only one jet bridge back when I lived there.
Whitehorse is either my last or my first stop in Canada depending if I am coming or going from Alaska, flying is fun but nothing beats driving the Alcan! First time by myself was at age 17.
In 2013 I used to fly on Condor 767 from Frankfurt to Montego Bay. OMG these 767 already by that time were aged. I am so surprised that they still in service.
The aircraft was always Condor inventory but for a few years Condor has been rebranded Thomas Cook by a tour operator who had aquired the airline for a rather brief period of time.
8 767 to a town of 28,000 people is wild! I live in North Dakota in a town about the same size and we have 1 flight a day lol! Bismarck where I fly out of has an airport about the same size but nowhere near that much traffic! Appreciate the video, really interesting and well done!
Loved you finally did this trip for yourself … I remember when you posted that video a long time ago about Whitehorse and Condor airlines…you have the best hobby my man 🍻cheers
Great video and so well narrated. Thanks! I recently had the good fortune to be able to fly from Seoul to UlaanBataar Mongolia on board Mongolian Airlines. I was very impressed with the service in Business Class, probably the best I have ever experienced and the 12 year old 767 was immaculate! I can also say the same thing about my recent trip on RwandAir from LHR to Kigali Rwanda. Excellent service and beautiful aircraft (A330-300). If you ever have the opportunity, give both of these a try. Greetings from Vancouver!
Love these videos. The short taxi video fade right into the takeoff roll means no skipping long boring taxi sections of video 👍 keep up the good work, subbed.
I want to wish the SO Team Canada Training Squad all the best as they prepare for the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games! The Chef de Mission is very empathetic about the needs of others.
Must have been dream-like to gaze out the window at those arctic views. That retro livery of the plane you filmed earlier in Whitehorse was very sharp indeed - black nose cones look amazing and really finish it all off. Commenting from White ‘Rock’, Canada here.
Frankfurt is a fantastic airport to fly from or connect through. Honestly, it's just a fantastic experience start to finish, and you can tell so much thought and effort has been put into make the experience as seemless as possible. If I ever fly long haul, I'll always fly into frankfurt from the UK and connect onto any long haul route I might be doing. They have some amazing airport hotels so if you arrive the day before you can really relax before departing on a long haul flight.

Nothing is pretty unique. Either IS or is NOT. Look up the word.

well my guess is 2 reasons: Alaska Cruises and stopovers to Asia

Great views on the bus to the plane! Last time I was in Frankfurt, we loaded on to the bus and it must have been at least 15 minutes from the plan to the terminal! We were rushing to try to make a connection, and I was too stressed to enjoy the views... Regrets!
Interesting range of Condor liveries in the video. Very interesting trip report!
First time by myself was at age 17.
whoah that catering is super impressive, even if it’s premium economy! that pork and lentil salad actually looks really good
Thanks for sharing all the far north scenery out the window. There is a Glory at 18:15 in your video!
White Horse looks like a cool place to visit. It sure does look a lot like Alaska. I can see why it’s a popular destination to visit.
The A321XLR will be perfect for this route
In 2013 I used to fly on Condor 767 from Frankfurt to Montego Bay. OMG these 767 already by that time were aged. I am so surprised that they still in service.
The aircraft was always Condor inventory but for a few years Condor has been rebranded Thomas Cook by a tour operator who had aquired the airline for a rather brief period of time.
An excellent video that highlights the age-old concept of supply and demand…
Great quality coverage of some very unique geography. Thanks.
Love these videos. The short taxi video fade right into the takeoff roll means no skipping long boring taxi sections of video 👍 keep up the good work, subbed.
I LOVE how you keep it positive! Great work Mr. Praglowski
