That's the smallest liquor store in Coeur d'Alene. The good stuff does come in frequently in Idaho, but it all goes extremely fast... all at srp.
In most of Idaho they don't even tell the store what their getting. Just stop in and see what they have. Weller 107 ($55) one day, EHT small batch ($50) another, Rare Breed ($46) always - good pricing, but not many consistent finds.... Do love the Rare Breed downright cheap !!
Agreed! 🥃
Wow, yeah some of those prices are better where I'm at in Arizona, and others are worse. I think the last time I saw a Buffalo Trace in my area it was right around $30 but I think you can get Travelers for around $34-$36ish.
I prefer controlled state pricing. Yes it is harder to get some bottles but you’ll never be gouged for it if you get one. I don’t hunt for bottles I have what I enjoy and can walk in get it and go. Enjoy!!
It is tough here in Idaho. Have scored some Weller 107 for $55 on occasion and a bookers. It's hit and miss and just have to go in weekly.
Worst store in Coeur d’Alene. The other stores get great stuff on the regular (Blanton’s Gold, Weller, EHT) at MSRP. Have to know the right people and time.
State control can be challenging/frustrating in getting popular bottles; however, paying MSRP makes up for the lack of supply. Over time, I’ve snagged several hard-to-get bottles and only paid MSRP. It’s a hunt/relationship game in state-run and privatized states; you have to figure out how to play within each.
Welcome to Idaho! When you can find Rare Breed for 46 bucks why do you need any other whiskey?
If you're in downtown Boise go to the Owyhee Tavern... they have a whiskey collection that would make even whiskey bonded drool... trust me
Thanks for the tip! 👍🥃
Looks exactly like our stores in Alabama. Only thing is we get an allocation drop once a month. So nothing special on the shelf.
So i live in NC. For fathers day our county had a drop to celebrate. in said drop they had Blantons, the new bloodoath, EC b524, some makers wood finishing series, 1792 fullproof, Larsony b524, eagle rare, and buffalo trace. all at retail. quite literally you wont find anything special but you can also snag a blantons at its actual price. it may be a bit harder but with ABC commissions getting more talkative with customers you find that they are up front with folks about what they got
There's always a give and take. Like you said in controlled states you need to know when drops are happening and be able to wait in line. Luckily for PA they do some online drops and I've been lucky enough to grab an Elmer T. Lee and Weller 12 at MSRP. NJ next door you can find about anything you want, but it's gonna be all secondary pricing. I prefer PA but there's always room for improvement.
My home state. You're right about just knowing when to show up and look at the right time. Idaho does a 'treasure hunt' method for the rare bottles, where they randomly send them out to the stores. As a result of weekly visits to my local stores, I've picked up EH Taylor Small Batch, Eagle Rare 10, and Booker's for $50, $41, and $90 respectively in the last few months.
I also don't have trouble finding a lot of the good bourbon staples, like ECBP, Henry McKenna 10 yr, Rare Breed, Russell's Reserve 10, 1796 BiB & Full Proof, etc, etc. Heck, we even had the Yamazaki and Hakushu 12 year Japanese single malts show up recently. Didn't expect that to happen here.
Now if I could only find a bottle of Octomore...
The *major* upside/downside of being in a liquor control state, though... Is not being able to mail order whiskey. Good for my pocket book, bad for getting that High West Bourye I want.
Great note about ordering. Something to consider.
What town? Go to Boise on the weekends. You will find some nice allocated bottles.
This is Coeur d'Alene. 🥃
If you wanna be disappointed come to va. State run stores with horrible selection. The military base gas stations have better selection
Woodford double oaked has slowly been rising in prices
Woodford DO is $64.99 in NC:(.
@@bryancook4553 I only buy it at my local total wine for 49.99
@@Gonzo.357 Exactly. I purchased two bottles for $49.99 at Total Wine in SC back in March.
First view 🤘🏻
Oh yeah!! Winner! 🥇🥃
