This movie wouldn't be anywhere close to as good as it was without Timothee Chalamet's performance. He elevates every scene he's in and all his scenes with Robert Patinson were absolutely fantastic.
So pumped to see him in Dune, has so much talent and just has an aura around him which i cant really explain... So young but comes across as so mature.
I agree.
The soundtrack deserves a heap of praise independent of Chalamet, though.

He’s such a quality actor, very talented and diverse. I love watching him.
That had to be one of the most realistic beheading by axe scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie/tv show. I can’t imagine how they pull some of those effects off anymore. CGI maybe? Whatever the technique they used, the result was brilliant!
lol XD
well they had to get it in one take, but the good news is that they didnt have to pay the actor in the end.
Digital editing can do wonders...
not sure whether it is realistic, in reality it often takes multiple swing to chop someone's head off and it was difficult job, therefore the guillotine was invented
@@timothy1949 Not really, it wasn't all that often. That would have been a botched execution, which had repercussions ... plus, the executioner made good money by making sure that the execution goes smooth, by being paid by the soon-to-be beheaded or his family to make the axe extra sharp and shit. Is not all that complicated to chop a head, the Saudi still use it as a method of execution, using a sword instead of a big ass axe, and I never heard of botched executions there personally.
I love how little effort the headsman needed to get through the guys head. Those axes are heavy as all hell and they NEVER swing it above their heads cause it would affect their aim. They literally find the right spot and just let the axe drop and do all the work.
If there is one thing I have learned in my short term on this earth, always allow the tool to do its job.
You may find this lesson applies on so many levels.
Wouldn’t they have to swing it much harder?
@@nessa5095 Look up physics
@@chuckn4851 I know the weight of the axe if dropped etc. But still the bone to get through and all the tissue.
@@nessa5095 No, and this is a common misconception about axes. Most people tend to think that axes act as razors and you hafta go at this extreme angles with them in the swing, or that you need to swing as hard as you can for a variety of jobs. The truth being that axes are designed to cleave, IE be swung pretty much straight at the target, and are designed to cleave with minimum effort by the user. An axeman who knows what they're doing and uses these principles can get a fully grown pine tree down in under 2 minutes with barely any energy spent on their part with just a normal wood axe. An executioners axe is heavy enough and has enough blade length to easily get the job done in one shot as long as the executioner doesn't completely shit the bed and miss. Most botched executions were due to the executioner missing only striking with part of the blade and only causing a partial separation.

Without doubt Timothee Chalamet is the perfect actor of all time for the famous young King Henry of England. Millions thanks to Netflix & the team too. Even being of American from strong French ancestry, he still can play total Royal & solid bold English, very talented actor.
who?
I'did not think he could pull it off, But he did and I'am impressed! Good job! Sweet Tea!
@@lisaellis2593 :Out of all King Henry movie, Timothee is best one because almost similar to real youth of King Henry who is bit small & skinny than any other king of England but his achievement was greatest of history at age so young. Too bad he died at age of 35 if I'm not mistaken due to colon cancer.
@@princevelkan295 actually Henry was 6'3" tall. It is a bit hard to call him "small" even by modern standards :) but doesn't matter, Timothee's performance was worthy indeed.
@@sorceressofaeaea :Omg wow i never knew about this, thanks a lot for this info. Respect
Got to love how different the Netflix era is from the old historical movies about the Tudors or whatnot that came out in the 60s 70s or 80s. In those there would always be what tvtropes calls a "Gory discretion shot" when someone gets their head chopped off. The axe raised high, then falls out of frame, there is a squelching sound and the camera cuts to the gasping onlookers. But in the post Game of Thrones era that's old hat, now if there's a beheading, they show a damn beheading!
Honestly I prefer that method. It leaves it to your imagination, and your imagination can conjure more gruesome images than gore-fest cgi can.
This film was well beyond worthy of the big screen, it’s one of my favorite Netflix originals
Absolutely, no Netflix movie to date achieved the same level, big screen worthy.
@@Getoffmycloud53 Okja and beasts of no nation were brilliant
It's not that bad, one clean strike and you're off this planet. It's the anticipation, that makes it disturbing.
Not always. There is a quite a record of botched beheadings.
look up the execution of margaret pole.. several axe strikes to the neck and shoulder by an inexperienced executioner
During the French Revolution a few people agreed to try to give various signs/signals using their face to indicate how long they were conscious after they were beheaded. The longest was about 30 seconds, and practically all were at least 5 to 10 seconds.
Even when performed well (which isn't always the case) the idea that separating head from body is instant brain death doesn't hold up to much scrutiny.
@@laurbster2680 She was literally hacked to death. A horrible, savage and inhumane way to have to die( but that's how it was done back then). As far as I know, Saudi Arabia is the only country on earth that still has beheading as a form of capital punishment.
@@robuzo That's what I've read, too. It wasn't always swift death in one clean strike. Sometimes it took several strikes( or even more than that) or more than one drop of the guillotine. It's a gruesome and brutal way to to die.
The way they had members of the royal staff standing stoic at different angles just added to the tension in the scene
This was actually an amazing film. I felt like I was there.
It's almost as good as the classic "Cromwell".
The movie definitely had it's flaws but his portrayal was absolutely stunning, he legit carried the whole film on his back.. 😮
It was a super movie, and he made it even better!
Well I dunno about that, there were some excellent actors in the cast that also helped carry the film. Let's not just shove them aside because you got a crush on Chalamet. Yes, he was very good but so were many of the others. In particular, Joel Edgerton (Falstaff) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Hotspur), and others. The ensemble was very good. No need to blow them off just so you can fangirl over Chalamet.

being used to Branagh of Laurence Olivier for the role of Henry V , it is surprising to see an actor who is about the same age as Henry V was when he became king. Henry V was 27 when he took the crown and 35 when he died. Chalamet is 23 at this time.

Well, his cousin was his friend and the french were not the aggressors, in the end he realized it.
was the cousin really his friend though? the cousin seemed to doubt henry at least partially because henry didn't want to do anything against france, and then the cousin plotted behind his back because of his doubt. if I remember it correctly anyway.
The cousin was plotting against him regardless of who was pulling the strings in the end. Pure high treason. Some friend.
2:20 money shot.
How the hell, did they make that beheading look so real.
Very clever
a relatively simple comp trick actually
There is a clip on youtube of a beheading in Saudi for causing deaths by dangerous driving when drifting. It was taken from a great distance but the one thing you could clearly make out was the crouched body springing back sharply at the point of decapitation
That moment when the director yells “cut”, and the actors are too deeply involved in their character play…
