Radhika Malhotra He was honest, but what is there to like about his mindset? He stated that if one of his daughters were with someone who looked like him, he’d disinherit her. That’s drastic action taken solely off of aesthetics. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that this man is also a racist, making wild assumptions about character based on how someone looks. If that same logic were applied to him, everyone should be fearful of him. He is a white male. Should each person he passes be afraid that he will brutalize them, discriminate against them, create a structure of oppression around them, colonize them, strip them of their rights as a human being, steal their land and culture? As a visual representative of the most dominating group in the world (through ruthless means), it confounds me how people like him feel entitled to pass judgement on anyone based on looks.
@@jamaicafox I understand what you are saying, but the reason I liked what he said or how hebehaved was that he seemed like a person who is ready to listen. He stopped and after asking if he was planning to rob him, he stopped talked further and listened to what he had to say. And I think even the other guy appreciated that. Yes he has a kind of mindset that many wouldn't agree to, but If we are calling ourselves broad minded we should also understand where that kind of mindset is coming from. He is an old man with traditional opinions about things but just the fact HE STOPPED and listened to him says alot. Such people can change in my opinion. We shouldn't be so rigid not everything is black or white.

This looks very fake btw, but either way, you can’t expect people not to be cautious when they see a guy covered in tattoos with piercings. Not all men covered heavily in tattoos are criminals, but criminals tend to have tattoos. People have every right to be cautious (not mean tho) It’s like walking down the street with a hammer casually, and expecting people not to see you as a potential threat. People are too trusting these days, and often play a big part in their own murder, rape, etc. Like I said before, this video looks very fake and staged, and for people to act like this to anyone is abnormal, but you can’t endanger yourself simply for the sake of being nice.
Well many many jobs in the UK have strict laws about there being no tattoos beyond the collar or cuffs (officially or unofficially). So suddenly when you see the man you know for sure that he isn't a doctor, soldier, police officer, lawyer etc

I know right? Another experiment showed people dressed as homeless, they filmed their loved ones while passing by on the street. Another crew filmed those people talking about how much they love each other and then showed the footage of them ignoring those same people they talked about. It's really heart breaking how people can't even recognize their realatives because of the increasing neglect to homeless people.

I'd say that the two scenarios aren't comparable. The first one, which is about money and changing it on the streets, is often used by muggers. I know a lot of people who wouldn't change money on the streets no matter how the people look like. In every city there are shops everywhere, I'd direct them there.
With the directions scenario, most people would give directions to any person no matter the looks, because it doesn't involve any participation or risk in any way. To come to a conclusion of prejudices, you should use the same scenarios, otherwise other factors control the seen effect.

This is a social experiment and probabilities are it lasted more than 3:51. But this is also a UA-cam video and not a documentary, so they don't have to put every single encounter ever if they can just summarize everything in just a couple of minutes. And while they could potentially be showing us just what they want us to see, probabilities are this isn't far from the truth regardless (just think about how colored people are still discriminated upon).

To have a correct experiment, everything must be the same besides the independent variable. That means same clothes, question, location, weather, and even though it’s impossible, same people.

I got modified to look less like a child so strangers would touch/grab me less on public transit & follow me home leas often. Ie I stretched my ears to feel safer in my skin after a lot of trauma/violence due to being tiny, female, & Disabled. Way to be quite judgmental with no basis. 🤷♀️
Morale of the Story: People do care about appearance, don’t be deceived by the notion that appearance doesn’t matter. The other thing to note here is, we should be ready for the consequences of the decisions we make. He had a tattoo, that didn’t necessarily mean he’s a bad person but due to the fact that most people with tattoos demonstrate some negative behaviors, people tend to have that first impression of that. It may take time to prove himself good but I hope we get to the point where we’re open minded as we claim and treat people in a neutral manner

Heavy tattooing especially on someones face is associate with prisoners, gang members, ect and WAY back in the day tribal warriors would tattoo their face for intimidation so sub-consciously we think "dangerous". The point of the video isn’t only to show how people react to tattoos it’s also to show that people with tattoos are just human as well. The stigma on tattoos really needs to change, just because someone wants to have some ink on their body to symbolize something doesn’t make them a bad person, it’s literally just them decorating their bodies in a way that is helpful to their own mentality. My sister recently got a tattoo to help her with a lot of bad memories from childhood, whenever she gets anxious about it she can just look at or feel the tattoo. Stop judging people for wanting to look a certain way, wether it be tattoos, piercings, dyed hair, plastic surgery, gender reassignment, breast reduction, or anything else. They are allowed to change their appearance to enjoy being themselves.

You know that's easy to say but when we try to do it in real life, our instinct just kicks in that we ignore those kind of people from what we been taught and seen on social medias. To be fair I thought about every moment where I sort of ignored those people before and thought some were actually nice people but I sort of missed those kind of opportunities when they wanted help. It's that fear of dying, loosing everything and trust issues-with people you don't know and want to socialize much based on their looks and/or behavior. It's sad really.
We shouldn’t judge character but we all do regardless. It’s a side effect of our mind’s need to make distinctions in our visual environment.
He made a choice. It’s only sad that he didn’t have the intelligence or insight to anticipate how his social world would change.

Your reason for doing something doesn't change what you're doing, you're still doing it (whether it's screaming at someone or choosing to dress badly, etc) and people can't read your mind so they'll assume the reason based on what is most likely.
People have as much right to make assumptions as he does to look the way he wants to. Trying to live in a way in which you don't judge appearances is a great way to get yourself beaten and robbed for blindly trusting any shady looking group you see. It's how a sheltered child thinks about the world.
I never treat people like criminals based off their looks. Ive met some of the worst people who are a clean slate visually.

I think it was a bad experiment. Most people who live in a city won't stop at all when someone approaches them. A woman especially probably would not. In New York City you hear too many stories of mentally ill homeless people throwing people in front of moving subway trains.
