  • When Adoption FAILS | Thoughts & Feelings on Myka Stauffer
Two of our kids have had failed adoptions prior to our house and they wanted to share their experience with all of you. This is our thoughts and feelings about the Myka Stauffer case. Sometimes when adoption fails it is very heartbreaking. According to statistics this happens more often then we realize.

It makes me phenomenally angry that Alex has been so mistreated. I cannot even fathom how you, Crystal, and Aaron must feel about it. I don’t know any of you personally, but from the brief time I’ve spent watching you and your family- I know for a fact that Alex is an incredibly kind-hearted, smart, brave and loving young man without a single bad bone in his body. To blame a child for your own failings as a parent is abhorrent. Nothing a child does or doesn’t do ever, ever, EVER warrants abuse. That man deserves be in prison, and that woman revoked her right to a family when she (from what I gather) abused her kids. I hope Alex gets to a place where he understands, whole-heartedly, that none of what he experienced is his fault. Hannah, too, for that matter. I know that it’s one thing to think it and another to truly believe it. Love you guys so much, thank you for all your open and honest conversations with us 💞

If you adopt a kid, you’re officially their parent right? Then how is it even possible to “give them back” to fostercare. That is terrible, you can’t return a kid like it’s a shirt that after all doesn’t fit you perfectly..
Also how strong are Alex and Hannah for bouncing back after going through all of this. And to talk about all of this so openly and vulnerably on camera. So much respect for the two of them!

I happened upon this series of videos several weeks ago, and I can't imagine an evening without catching up with your family. As a college professor of Child Development, it is my firm conviction and professional opinion that this is one of the most loving and supportive family groups I have ever seen. What a perfect setting for nurturing and teaching values and convictions. I will be using your family in my lectures, and I am profoundly grateful for your example of love and care. As the parents of two adopted children, my wife has often reminded them that while they did not grow "under" her heart, they grew "in" her heart.

They should both be so proud of how far they have come, Alex is such a respectful, funny and handsome young man and Hannah is so charismatic, gracious and a beautiful young lady! I don't wish anything bad on their previous adoptive family but all I will say is, they are the ones who lost out on these amazing kids through their OWN fault and nobody elses! I actually raised my niece and nephew my brothers kids. I never formally adopted I did have full and legal custody of them but they are my kids and they do call my husband and I aunt and uncle . The main problem is that they saw the kid as "something" they get, to be happy, so as soon as they got their own child, they just returned Huxley and that´s so wrong. Adoption is to share love and take care of a child that was meant to be your child, in order to the benefit of the child.

I will never understand how someone could do that to kids. They already been through so much at a young age and then they still need to endure more torture? I hope Alex realizes that it’s not his fault. He is an amazing brother/son/ friend/cousin/ loving person. The same goes to Hannah, she is all those wonderful things as well! I am so glad they found their forever family with you guys! 💕 Also, Aurora was so cute when she came over and gave both of them hugs.. she could probably sense they were hurting a little bit and needed that.

To Crystal: I can see that this issue still deeply affects you, I could hear it in your voice. It shows how much you care about the children you have adopted. I loved how you explained what adoption meant to you personally and I agree with you 100%, Adoption is not something to take lightly; it is not something to take for granted. Once you sign that paper, you are morally, legally, physically, and emotionally responsible for the life entrusted to you. Thank you for this channel... It really is a gem!!!

This family is so inspirational to me. I am a much older lady “51” years old with all grown children and a grandchild. My nephew was placed in CPS care 4 times from abuse the 5th time the state stepped in. The mother wanted my baby in her boyfriend’s family care that had a very very long criminal background which the mothers boyfriend and his sister is the abuser. You guys have helped me learn a lot through your family.i never thought you could love another child like you do your own. My baby is like I gave birth to him I have the same love! 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️

Thanks for addressing this subject. I used to follow the Stauffer as I follow you guys ‘cause I’m really curious about adopting. The Huxley case made me question myself on whether I should be searching for more adoption content on UA-cam or just drop it. But I can see that your home is filled with understanding, dialogue and - above all - unconditional love. Thank you Crystal and Aaron for being so inspirational and all the kids for sharing the adoptees’s point of view as well.

She didn't "know" she wanted a special needs child to help more the world as she said. The doctors told her thatcl child needed more than they could provide and she was mad she just saw a picture of him among others and choose him. From there everything went so weird, people used to tell her she wasn't a good mum she and would say I am a great and wonderful mum that was the first year of the adoption then you could never see those comments. Poor child, she suddenly shifted attention to the new born and everything was about that new baby

I'm an autism mom. Whom would love to adopt one day. I've been a follower of you and the crazy middles for long time. I didnt know how you would feel on this. I love how you support your children and made this about them. I hope Alex and Hannah continue to heal from that terrible time it was just a road to make it home to you. Thank you for what you do.
The previous "abuser" [becauss no mother abuses a child] must be crazy because all I ever get from alex is great vibes and so much fun. I dont know how anyone could mistreat any child let alone those beautiful children who seem to always be smiling.

No one is perfect but you were a child and she was the adult and shame on HER for even saying that- and especially for the abuse she and her partner afflicted on you and the other children. Your real forever mom and dad love you SO much like you should be loved. I don’t even know you and I am proud of you and Hannah! My husband went through a lot of what Alex did, his mother abused him and him and his brother was placed into Foster Care and his aunt came and got his brother but did not take him, his brother was raised with family and he was jumped around in the system and abused, unfortunately he was never adopted just stayed in the system.
We was married 16 years when trying to have a child was unsuccessful and we adopted a baby girl from our friend who had cancer and was unable to care for her, she is now 4 and we named her Paisley.
My heart is there for adopting sibling groups, we just have to get our finances in order and get a bigger home, I absolutely love watching you all and The Crazy Middles because it makes my heart so happy to see these kids succeeding and loved!
    Now for my question..
    Alex and Hannah,
When you all came to live with your mom and dad (crystal and Aaron) how did you act? Where you nervous if you wasn't perfect that you would be abused? How long did it take you to gain trust?

Alex and Hannah thank you for sharing more of your story, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to talk about. Children should never be blamed for adults issues, Alex any adult that places blame on a minor they are transferring blame, and or their guilt. Hannah you’re a very mature 13yr old, it broke my heart to see you fighting your emotions, you certainly are a very beautiful, strong, young Lady who deserves to feel safe and loved, Alex Sam and your other siblings from your previous adoption you all deserve to feel safe and loved.
Aurora is the next level of adorable 😍, it seemed like Aurora was doing sign language to repeat what you were saying Crystal.
As someone who cannot have children, abusive parents, neglectful parents who take their children for granted is definitely a sore spot for me. Crystal I am so glad you touched on the term “rehoming” I found that term to be out there, my kids are fur-kids, and when I heard that term I was shocked and was of the same opinion as you definitely a term that should never be used relating to a human being!
Thankfully you all have found each other, and have found your forever home, that came with unconditional love respect and understanding!

I cried almost this whole video
As someone who went thru some mental abuse myself I know how it feels to put all the blame on yourself. I'm still working on finding perspective as I'm still living in an unstable household. It hard to see that it's not my fault when my parents are "mad" or "disappointed" at me.
